So, whether you’re off on an urban adventure or just people-watching, you’ll see locals zipping through under the classic stone arches while futuristic trains slide by. Past, present, and future — all on the same track. The vibe? Undefeated. Any time of day is magic, but if you catch sunrise or sunset, Luz feels extra alive with that low-key buzz: arrivals, departures, suitcase wheels rolling, people hugging hello or goodbye. There are info desks if you get lost, cute shops, and grab-and-go bites inside so you can fuel up before your next adventure. The Cascade Wellness Resort truly stands out as the premier destination in Lagos. Overlooking the breathtaking Ponta De Piedade and Praia do Canavial, the resort boasts amazing accommodations, including villas and spacious hotel rooms. The staff are exceptionally well-trained, polite, caring, and go out of their way to ensure a perfect stay. The facilities are impressive, featuring six pools, a massive and well-equipped gym that’s never crowded, tennis courts, table tennis, and a games room. The cliff-top walks with accessible boardwalks are beautifully developed. Whether heading east or west from the hotel, the views are incredible, offering access to cliffs, the ocean, and diverse wildlife for an unforgettable experience. Adventurous guests can take the scenic yet challenging 90-minute hike to Praia Da Luz. For those venturing into town, Lagos, one of the Algarve’s best, is a short taxi ride or about a 30-minute walk, which is pleasant and mostly flat. The large main pool area is perfect for relaxation, and over many years of visiting, I have always found plenty of sun loungers available. Though there are minor areas that could use refurbishment, the overall charm of the resort easily overshadows these small issues. This year, we tried the Senses Restaurant and the immersive dining experience at Le Petit Chef—both were fantastic, with excellent food, service, and attention to detail. Overall, the Cascade Wellness Resort offers excellent value for money.

Where should I start? I led a group of 9 yogis to Quinta Bonita last May, and it was an absolutely astonishing stay! The gorgeous grounds, exceptional staff, and complete culinary experience truly left us in awe of this incredible home! I've been organizing retreats for the last four years, and this was genuinely the easiest and most authentic experience my group has enjoyed! Despite rarely returning to the same spot, I am eager to host another group at Quinta Bonita again!
