Tucked away in Victoria’s High Country, it’s a lovely mix of bush, creeks and cool relics from the gold mining era. The walk to Fry’s Hut is super easy and worth it just for the chill riverside vibes. The hut itself has an awesome backstory about Fred Fry, a bushman who built it by hand. There are lots of good camping spots around here, right by the Howqua River, and if you’re into fishing, this place is a win. Definitely bring proper shoes if you're going to do some of the trails, and pack food because it’s remote with zero shops. It’s also dog friendly which is always a bonus. Whether you’re there for the scenery, history or just a quiet escape, Howqua Hills is a proper gem for a weekend adventure.

Mansfield is a small holiday resort for locals. It is not too big but has everything you need. The whole town has a strong European atmosphere. For other tourists, staying for an hour is already a long time because there is nothing to do. But why come here? The reason is that you can rent cheaper snow equipment here (reservations are required). It is also a small town before entering Mt. Buller Snow Mountain. It is also a good choice to take a short break when taking a long-distance bus as a transfer station.
