Mittenwald travel guide and discussion

Innsbruck, Austria → Mittenwald, Germany I took the S6 regional train from Innsbruck Hbf toward Mittenwald. The journey itself is part of the experience—the train winds through the Alps with spectacular mountain views along the way. Arriving in Mittenwald, it felt like stepping into a postcard: colorful Lüftlmalerei-painted houses, traditional wooden balconies, charming little streets, and the dramatic Karwendel Alps rising behind the town. 🏘️🏔️ And then came the perfect finale—a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by snowy mountains and forest. 💙 🚆 Train: S6 📍 Route: Innsbruck Hbf → Mittenwald #mittenwald #innsbruck #austriatravel #germanytravel #alps #bavarianalps #traintravel #daytrip #traveleurope #tripmoments #mountainescape

Bavaria is one of the most beautiful regions in Germany, combining fairytale castles, crystal clear lakes, charming alpine villages and spectacular mountain scenery. This itinerary is perfect for 4 to 6 days, allowing you to experience the very best of southern Germany at a relaxed pace. 📍Munich Start your adventure in Bavaria’s capital. Spend a day exploring Marienplatz, the English Garden, Viktualienmarkt and one of the city’s famous beer gardens before hitting the road. 📍Neuschwanstein Castle The world’s most famous fairytale castle is a must visit. Built by King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein inspired Disney’s Sleeping Beauty Castle and sits dramatically above the forests and lakes near Füssen. Book your tickets in advance, walk up to Marienbrücke for the iconic panoramic view and, if possible, arrive early in the morning before the crowds. 📍Hohenschwangau Castle Just a short walk from Neuschwanstein, this beautiful yellow castle was King Ludwig II’s childhood home. Many visitors skip it, but visiting both castles offers a much richer understanding of Bavaria’s royal history. 📍Füssen One of Bavaria’s prettiest towns, Füssen is known for its colourful streets, medieval centre and beautiful riverside setting. Wander through the Old Town, visit the High Castle, enjoy traditional Bavarian restaurants and walk along the turquoise Lech River. It’s also an excellent place to spend the night before continuing your road trip. 📍Alpsee Located just below the castles, Alpsee is a peaceful alpine lake surrounded by mountains and forests. You can rent boats, enjoy lakeside walks or simply relax while taking in the incredible scenery. 📍Linderhof Palace Often overlooked by visitors, Linderhof is the smallest of King Ludwig II’s royal palaces but arguably the most elegant. Its beautifully landscaped gardens, fountains and famous Venus Grotto make it one of Bavaria’s hidden treasures. 📍Oberammergau This charming village is famous for its colourful painted houses (Lüftlmalerei), woodcarving traditions and the Passion Play performed every ten years. It’s an excellent stop between Linderhof and Garmisch. 📍Grainau Nestled at the foot of Germany’s highest mountain, Grainau is a peaceful alpine village surrounded by forests and spectacular mountain scenery. It’s the perfect base for exploring the Zugspitze region while enjoying a more relaxed atmosphere than nearby Garmisch Partenkirchen. 📍Eibsee Often called Germany’s most beautiful lake, Eibsee is famous for its crystal clear turquoise water and breathtaking views of the Zugspitze. Walk the easy 7.5 km trail around the lake, rent a kayak or paddle boat in summer, or simply enjoy one of the many swimming spots. Sunrise and sunset offer the most magical light for photography. 📍Zugspitze Take Germany’s highest cable car to the summit of Zugspitze at 2,962 metres. On a clear day you can enjoy panoramic views across Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy. Whether you visit for the snow, hiking or simply the scenery, it’s one of Bavaria’s most unforgettable experiences. 📍Partnach Gorge Located near Garmisch Partenkirchen, this spectacular gorge features dramatic waterfalls, narrow rock passages and walkways carved into the cliffs. It’s an easy hike suitable for most visitors and a great addition to the route. 📍Mittenwald Just across the Austrian border, Mittenwald is one of Bavaria’s most picturesque villages. Its beautifully painted buildings, charming cafés and mountain backdrop make it feel straight out of a postcard. Ride the Karwendelbahn cable car for breathtaking alpine views or simply wander the historic centre. 📍Leutasch Ghost Gorge (Leutascher Geisterklamm) Only a few minutes from Mittenwald, this spectacular gorge offers suspended walkways attached to towering cliffs above rushing waterfalls. The easy circular trail is suitable for families and provides some of the most dramatic scenery in the Alps. 📍Walchensee One of Germany’s deepest and most beautiful lakes, Walchensee is known for its turquoise water and mountain surroundings. Drive along the lakeshore, stop at scenic viewpoints or take the Herzogstand cable car for incredible panoramic views. 📍Kochelsee Just south of Munich, Kochelsee is a peaceful lake perfect for relaxing after several days of sightseeing. Visit the Franz Marc Museum, enjoy lakeside cafés or take a gentle walk along the shore. 🚗 Suggested 5 Day Itinerary Day 1 · Munich · Overnight in Munich Day 2 · Neuschwanstein Castle · Hohenschwangau Castle · Alpsee · Overnight in Füssen Day 3 · Linderhof Palace · Oberammergau · Grainau · Sunset at Eibsee Day 4 · Sunrise at Eibsee · Zugspitze · Partnach Gorge · Overnight in Garmisch or Grainau Day 5 · Mittenwald · Leutascher Geisterklamm · Walchensee · Return to Munich via Kochelsee 💡 Tips · Rent a car for maximum flexibility, as many of the best viewpoints are only accessible by road. · Travel between late May and early October for the best hiking conditions, or visit in autumn for spectacular foliage. · Book Neuschwanstein and Zugspitze tickets well in advance during summer. · Start your days early, especially at Eibsee and Neuschwanstein, to enjoy the scenery before the crowds arrive. #Germany #Bavaria #RoadTrip #Neuschwanstein #Fussen #Eibsee #Mittenwald #Walchensee #TravelGermany #ScenicDrive #FairytaleCastles #EuropeTravel #MountainViews #TripMoments

The Leutascher Geisterklamm (Leutasch Ghost Gorge) is one of the most impressive gorges in the Alps, located on the border between Germany and Austria near Mittenwald. Suspended walkways cling to the cliffs above the roaring Leutascher Ache, creating an unforgettable adventure with dramatic viewpoints, waterfalls, and lush forest scenery. It’s an easy excursion that’s perfect for families, couples, and anyone looking for a unique nature experience. One of the best things about visiting is that the gorge itself is completely free to enter, making it an incredible experience without an entrance fee. If you’re driving, there is a convenient car park next to the entrance that costs €6 for the day. The main circular route takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on how many photo stops you make. Along the way, you’ll cross wooden bridges, elevated platforms, and scenic viewpoints while discovering the local legends of the “Ghost Gorge” through interactive displays. Wear comfortable shoes, as some sections can be damp, and try to visit in the morning or late afternoon for softer light, fewer visitors, and the best photography conditions. The gorge is easily reached by car or by taking a train to Mittenwald followed by a short walk. If you have extra time, combine your visit with the charming town of Mittenwald or the beautiful village of Leutasch for a perfect day exploring the Bavarian Alps. #Bavaria #Tyrol #GermanyTravel #AustriaTravel #Alps #HikingAdventure #NatureLovers #ScenicWalk #MountainViews #Waterfalls #HiddenGem #TripMoments #travel2026 #naturalwonders

Last Christmas, I spent 14 days across Switzerland, France, Germany, and Austria—and every stop felt like a different chapter of a fairytale. From snow-covered mountains to colorful medieval streets, these four towns completely stole my heart. 🏔️ 1. Zermatt, Switzerland A car-free alpine village nestled beneath the iconic Matterhorn. Picture cozy wooden chalets, snowy streets, and crisp mountain air. Whether you’re skiing or simply wandering through town with a hot chocolate, Zermatt is pure winter magic. 🎨 2. Riquewihr, France If Beauty and the Beast had a real hometown, this would be it. Timber-framed houses painted in vibrant colors, cobblestone lanes, and festive Christmas decorations make every corner look like a postcard. It’s impossible not to slow down and soak in the charm. ⛰️ 3. Mittenwald, Germany Often overshadowed by Bavaria’s bigger destinations, Mittenwald is a hidden gem. Surrounded by the Alps, it’s famous for its beautifully painted buildings (Lüftlmalerei), peaceful atmosphere, and traditional Bavarian character. A perfect place to escape the crowds. 🌅 4. Hallstatt, Austria One of Europe’s most photographed villages—and for good reason. Sitting between towering mountains and a crystal-clear lake, Hallstatt looks surreal in every season. Early morning, when the mist rises over the lake, is simply unforgettable. 💰 Budget 🗓️ 14 Days / 13 Nights 💸 Around RM12,000 (including flights, accommodation, transport, food, and attractions) #hallstatt #zermatt #mittenwald #riquewihr #europetrip #europeonbudget

We drove ourselves to Lautersee in Mittenwald, a place known for its beautiful lakes and mountains. The beautiful lake offers a distant view of the Alps, and it is surrounded by green trees, making it very peaceful and beautiful. Mittenwald is also a famous art town, with houses decorated with exquisite murals everywhere. One of those places where Bavaria looks like it belongs in a fairytale. ✨ Nestled near the village of Gerold, just outside Mittenwald, Geroldsee is surrounded by the spectacular peaks of the Bavarian Alps. In autumn, the landscape becomes even more magical—golden meadows, crisp mountain air, colorful trees, and dramatic alpine peaks creating a picture-perfect scene. 🍁🏔️ The calm waters of Geroldsee beautifully reflect the surrounding mountains, especially on a still morning. The combination of the peaceful lake, rolling meadows, traditional Bavarian countryside, and rugged peaks makes this one of the most photogenic landscapes in southern Germany. 🍂 Why visit in autumn? · Golden foliage and warm autumn colors · Clear views toward the Wetterstein and Karwendel Alps · Peaceful lakeside atmosphere · Beautiful sunrise and early-morning photography · Scenic walking routes through the surrounding countryside · Traditional Bavarian landscapes without the feel of a major city 📸 Photography tip: Visit early in the morning when the water is calm and the mountains can create beautiful reflections on the lake. Misty mornings can make the landscape feel especially atmospheric. 🚶 Nearby: Geroldsee is close to Mittenwald, making it easy to combine with a visit to the charming old town, alpine viewpoints, and other scenic spots around the Karwendel region. There’s something incredibly peaceful about standing beside this little alpine lake, surrounded by autumn colors and towering mountains. Sometimes you don't need a famous landmark—just a quiet corner of nature. ❤️🍂 📍 Geroldsee, Krün, Bavaria, Germany 🇩🇪 Bavarian Alps 🍁 Best mood: Autumn mornings 🏔️ Perfect for: Nature, photography, hiking & peaceful escapes #Geroldsee #Bavaria #Germany #BavarianAlps #Mittenwald #AutumnInGermany #GermanyTravel #Alps #AutumnColors #NatureLovers #MountainViews #LakeView #TravelPhotography #ExploreGermany #VisitBavaria

Drive 3 kilometers west from Mittenwald. The road gets narrower, the trees denser, and the GPS signal is almost gone. Then, around a bend, Lautersee lies quietly in the embrace of the mountains. I was stunned at first sight. The water was so clear I could see the stones and fish swimming below. The distant Alps were reflected on the surface, as if someone had dropped a postcard straight into reality. The best part was the temperature. It was over 30 degrees outside, but here it was only 20 degrees. The breeze blowing off the lake felt cool, and after standing there for a while in my short sleeves, I actually wanted a jacket. The lake isn't big; it takes about half an hour to walk around it. But no one is in a rush. Some people are sitting on the grass by the shore reading, others have taken off their shoes to soak their feet in the water and zone out, and there's a family feeding the wild ducks with bread. I found a spot in the shade, sat down, and dipped my feet into the lake. It was icy, and the water was so clear I could see my toes perfectly. A German man walked by carrying a beer, nodded at me, and said, "Entspannung, oder?" (Relaxing, right?). I nodded with a smile, even though that's the only German I know. If you want to swim, just jump in. The water isn't deep, and the bottom is covered in pebbles that feel slippery underfoot. There's a small restaurant on the shore that sells Bavarian white sausages and pretzels. Sitting on the terrace facing the lake, eating, with an ice-cold beer—I had two sausages and a drink for less than €15. It felt like this is what life is all about. Mittenwald hides Lautersee, a 20-degree summer that feels like such a luxury. Practical information: Drive 3 kilometers from Mittenwald or take the bus to the Lautersee stop Free, no admission ticket Bring water shoes, as the stones on the lakebed can be sharp The small restaurant closes at 5:00 PM, so go early if you want to eat There is a parking lot by the lake, but spaces are limited, so arriving in the morning is best If you're visiting Bavaria in the summer, don't just squeeze into the crowds at Neuschwanstein Castle. Take a detour, come to Lautersee to soak your feet, have a beer, and spend half a day living like an Alpine local in 20-degree weather.

Between Mittenwald and Krün lies a landscape whose quiet beauty simply invites you to linger: the famous Buckelwiesen. 💚🏔️ This atmospheric photo was taken here two years ago—featuring a traditional hay barn nestled in the gentle, rolling meadows of the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. To me, these small barns are among the most beautiful motifs in the region. They tell the story of traditional farming and give the landscape its very special character. 🌾🏡 Mountains rise in the background while the meadows stretch across the landscape like a green carpet. This place feels especially peaceful in the early morning: soft light, fresh mountain air, and a wonderful stillness that you can almost feel in the heart of nature. ✨ The Buckelwiesen are best known for their characteristic, slightly hilly terrain. Together with the traditional barns, the surrounding peaks, and the wide-open views, they create a quintessential Bavarian Alpine backdrop. 🏔️🌿 If you find yourself traveling between Mittenwald and Krün, you should take the time for a walk through this landscape. The region shows its most atmospheric side especially in the beautiful morning light or during the early days of autumn. 🍂📸 📍 Buckelwiesen between Mittenwald & Krün, Bavaria, Germany 📸 Reminiscing about a beautiful morning from 2 years ago

The morning began peacefully in Mittenwald, as the first rays of sunlight bathed the mountains and rooftops in a soft golden glow. The crisp September air felt fresh and wonderfully invigorating — exactly the kind of atmosphere that makes an early morning walk in the Alps so unforgettable. The trail up toward Kranzberg led through quiet sections of forest, passing majestic trees and opening up again and again to breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. With every step, everyday life seemed to fade a little further away, while the landscape became more and more impressive. Passing through St. Anton, the route continued toward Lautersee. Once there, a truly magical scene awaited: the peaceful lake surrounded by wooded mountain slopes and the majestic peaks of the Karwendel. The water reflected the gentle morning light, while the first warm colours of early autumn were already beginning to appear among the green forests. 🍁💧 This area is especially beautiful in September, when summer and autumn seem to blend together. The days are often still pleasantly mild, while the early mornings already carry that crisp, refreshing feeling of autumn. A leisurely walk without any rush, surrounded by nature, tranquillity, and spectacular mountain views — exactly the kind of morning that stays in your memory for a long time. ❤️ 📍 Mittenwald – Kranzberg – St. Anton – Lautersee, Bavaria 🍂 September | 🏔️ Karwendel Region | 🌲 Alps | 💧 Lautersee Sometimes, all it takes is a quiet mountain trail, crisp air, and a little morning sunshine to make the perfect start to the day. ✨

We visited Eibsee, Partnachklamm, and Mittenwald with a private car and guide/driver. The driver was very polite, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area, making the whole trip comfortable and enjoyable. The private car was extremely comfortable, giving us the freedom to enjoy the journey without feeling rushed. The scenery was stunning, and the experience was truly worth it!

Mittenwald is surrounded by one of the most beautiful Alpine landscapes in southern Germany. The dramatic Karwendel Mountains, green meadows, forests, and the nearby Isar Valley create an unforgettable mountain panorama. 🏔️ Berglandschaft bei Mittenwald The rugged limestone peaks of the Karwendel rise dramatically above the town, while the Buckelwiesen—gently rolling alpine meadows—add a softer foreground to the landscape. From higher viewpoints such as Kranzberg or the Karwendelbahn area, you can see an impressive combination of mountains, forests, meadows and the Isar Valley. A particularly spectacular experience is taking the Karwendelbahn from Mittenwald up to 2,244 metres, where expansive views open across the surrounding Alps. 📍 Location: Mittenwald, Bavaria, Germany 🏔️ Mountain range: Karwendel Alps 🌿 Highlights: Karwendel panorama, Buckelwiesen, Kranzberg, Lautersee, Ferchensee and Isar Valley

If you are looking for a corner of Europe that looks straight out of a picture book, Mittenwald is undoubtedly one of the most magical and charming stops in Germany. Nestled in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, very close to the Austrian border, this alpine village is famous for its houses decorated with traditional Lüftlmalerei artwork, centuries of violin-making history, and an imposing natural setting surrounded by snowy peaks. 🌲🏘️🗺️ What Makes Mittenwald Unique 🎻🎨🏔️ Dreamlike Painted Facades: Walking down its main street, the Obermarkt, is like strolling through an open-air art gallery. The historic houses are adorned with beautiful hand-painted frescoes depicting biblical scenes, local stories, and floral motifs. 🏘️🖌️✨ A Global Cradle of Music: Mittenwald has been famous for over 300 years for the mastery of its artisans in building violins. Even Goethe once called it a living picture book. 🎻📜🎶 Dazzling Alpine Nature: The village is guarded by the towering rock faces of the Karwendel massif, offering a perfect contrast between traditional Bavarian architecture and the grandeur of the mountains. 🌲⛰️🦅 Top Highlights You Can't Miss 🥾🌉🎻 Stroll Down the Obermarkt: Walk leisurely through the historic center, admire the artistic details of the houses, and stop at a traditional bakery to enjoy a coffee with mountain views. ☕️🚶♀️📸 Walk the Leutasch Gorge: Just minutes from the village, you can walk along suspended walkways over the turquoise waters of the river in a stunning rock canyon. 🌊🪵⛰️ Visit the Violin Museum: Learn the fascinating story of how this small mountain town became one of Europe's premier centers for string instrument craftsmanship. 🎻🏛️✨ Ride the Karwendel Cable Car: Take the cable car from the edge of town up to over 2,200 meters in altitude to enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Bavarian and Tyrolean Alps. 🚠❄️🦅 Quick Tips for Your Visit 💡👟🚗 Comfortable Shoes for Cobblestones: The historic center is pedestrian-only and paved with traditional cobblestones, so opt for comfortable walking shoes. 👟👍❌ Combine It with Nearby Lakes: Mittenwald is in a prime location, very close to crystal-clear alpine lakes like the Lautersee or Ferchensee. 💧🌲🦢 Great for Day Trips or a Quiet Stay: It is very close to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, making it perfect for either a day trip or a relaxing getaway in the mountains. 🗺️🇦🇹🇩🇪 #Mittenwald #GermanyTravel #Bavaria #BavarianAlps #Alps #ViolinMaking #FairytaleVillage #Wanderlust #TravelGram #NatureLovers #EuropeTravel #HiddenGem

I traveled from Innsbruck by regional train (25 min, €9.40), strolled into Mittenwald’s Obermarkt, and paid €6 for the Geigenbau- und Heimatmuseum—three rooms filled with Mathias Klotz violins, plane shavings, and a rare 1700 bow. However, the free views outside are even better: Mittenwald’s houses are adorned with Lüftlmalerei, traditional Bavarian trompe-l'œil frescoes of saints, hunters, and violin scrolls painted directly onto the plaster. Afterward, I caught a bus for the 10 km ride to Leutasch and hiked the Leutaschklamm (€4.50 gorge entry, open May–Oct)—a 1.5 km stretch of steel walkways bolted to the limestone cliffs, with the Leutascher Ache river thundering 40 meters below. The walk from the museum lane to the bus stop takes you past the painted houses along Innsbrucker Straße, where every other door boasts a violin or edelweiss fresco. A coffee at Café Krämble cost €3.50 and came with a charming violin-shaped biscuit. My first mistake: I visited the gorge at 1 PM in July, and the sunlight reflecting off the mid-gorge spray created a blinding white-out; go at 9 AM for perfectly shadowed water. My second mistake: assuming Mittenwald is just a quick stop. Between a 2-hour town visit and a 2-hour gorge hike, it’s best to base yourself in Garmisch or Innsbruck and split the day. Is it worth it? The museum is a must for luthiers, but the Lüftlmalerei lane and the gorge are the true highlights of Mittenwald. Your €6 buys historical craft context, while €4.50 buys pure adrenaline—prioritize the gorge if you're short on time. The real question: does a €6 violin museum ticket genuinely add to a free painted-alley walk, or is the Leutasch Gorge the only ticket truly worth buying here?

Snow, lakes, mountains. Winter in Mittenwald has always been on my must-visit list, and this time I finally experienced the joy of winter hiking. It still feels like a built-in filter, so beautiful it seems unreal 🥹 🌟Difficulty: 2.5🌟! The first half of the route up to Hoher Kranzberg is all uphill, with a maximum slope of 23°, so it requires a certain level of endurance. The second half is mostly flat, but some parts in the mountains may have ice patches. 🚄Transportation: Take the RB6 train directly from Munich Central Station (München Hbf) to Mittenwald, about a 2-hour ride. 🎫Tickets: The entire trip is covered by the 58-euro monthly Deutschlandticket, no extra cost. 👣Hiking Route: Refer to map 18 Mittenwald Hbf — St Anton (P2-3) — Hoher Kranzberg (P4) — Ferchensee (P8-11) — Lautersee (P12-13) — Mittenwald Hbf Big loop: The first half is all road/gravel paths, uphill all the way, with a very steep and long slope before St. Anton, extremely tiring! At the summit, there is a small cabin to rest, and the view is spectacular. The horizon is vast, with endless mountain ranges and Wildensee in sight. After passing through a forest trail, you reach Ferchensee ❄️ where the lake surface is already frozen. Walking around the lake offers different views at every turn! Going down leads to Lautersee, where on a clear day you can see snow-capped mountains reflected on the lake. The descent mostly follows a creek (P15-16), very soothing~ I was lucky to see the golden sunlight on the mountain peaks and a full moon that day (P17)🌕 👚Clothing: Warm base layers + inner layer + down jacket. It was very cold when I got off the train, but after starting the hike, I took off the down jacket. Two layers were enough; I was already sweating after the first half. I wore waterproof snow boots which worked, but it was still a bit slippery—hiking boots are best, but crampons are not necessary. 📌Notes: 1️⃣ Winter days are short, don’t linger too long enjoying the scenery. I started hiking around 10:30 at Mittenwald station, stopping often to take photos, and just made it in time for the 16:30 return train 🚄 The timing was quite tight. 2️⃣ Signal is poor in the mountains on the second half, so download offline maps 🗺️ in advance. 3️⃣ Bring a power bank! Phones drain quickly in cold weather, especially when using maps and taking photos. Trading steps for scenery, once again embraced by snowy mountains, icy lakes, and quiet valleys—feeling so happy 🤍

Hiking around Mittenwald, I first walked from the train station to Lautersee and thought the scenery was just okay. I asked ChatGPT if it was necessary to go to Ferchensee, and it said, "Since you've already reached Lautersee, if time permits, it's 100% worth it. There you'll find the snowy mountains you imagine." It was just past 1 PM, so of course I had time. I started heading toward Ferchensee. As I walked, I noticed white mist ahead, like entering a fairy tale forest, passing through rows of "Christmas trees." It seemed I had reached the lakeside because the original lake surface was completely covered with ice and snow, a vast white expanse. The sunlight shone on the snowy mountains, while mist hovered over the lake and mountains. The golden sunlight on the mountains also meant the sun was about to set, so I hurried back. Passing Lautersee again, I found it even more beautiful than at noon. At noon, it was a tranquil deep blue lake, but now it reflected the beautiful snowy mountains. Although the distance wasn’t long, some paths were icy, so we walked very carefully. Once the sun set, it got dark very quickly. On the way back, we took another path by a small waterfall. Where the path was easy, we jogged all the way until we saw the small town beneath the snowy mountains, which reassured us. Finally, we just made it to the 5 PM return train. By the time we boarded, it was completely dark. Winter in Mittenwald is so beautiful.

If the weather’s moody, duck into a local shop for woodcarvings or explore the violin-maker museum — Mittenwald is famous for it! 🌦️🏡 Practical tips: If you’re on a quick trip, the whole town can be explored on foot in under two hours. The first snow of the year has arrived again The town of Mittenwald welcomes a perfect sunny day This mountain town has once again transformed into a fairy-tale snowy world❄️ Highly recommended restaurant: Berggasthof Kärntner Alm Elegant environment, with stunning panoramic views of the town from the window seats (P4) and outdoor balcony seats (P1), and their schnitzel is absolutely delicious!

After arriving in Munich, this photography enthusiast fell in love with hiking! Therefore, I am starting a new series called "Hiking Diary" to document the scenery, hiking routes, and tips I encounter during hikes. In fact, this is my third hike around Munich. The first two were to Garmisch and Kufstein, both with quite beautiful scenery. I will organize and share them with everyone later. 📍Mittenwald🇩🇪 Depart from Munich Central Station, take the RB6 train directly to Mittenwald station. Note!! The train may split at a certain station along the way, and only the front part will continue to Mittenwald, so pay attention to the train announcements 📣 The hiking route is shown in the last picture. Personally, I find the difficulty moderate, with a climb through the forest in the middle and a very long downhill section in the second half. Friends going in winter should be cautious. The scenery along the way is very nice, with almost no sections without views. The coolest part is probably the canyon section at the beginning, with absolutely stunning Alpine snow scenery! The snow-capped mountain reflection on Lautersee Lake is quite breathtaking, and the streetscape of Mittenwald town is also very pretty. However, daylight in Germany in November is a bit short. Walking and taking photos for 5 hours felt a bit rushed. The scenery is so beautiful that there simply isn’t enough time to capture it all.
