The moss on the 1940s sheep-estancia ruin was black-green with gull-guano, ate a CLP 4,000 Natales milcao+cordero, watched the 13:00 sun stripe the ciprés trunks — no trail, just driftwood-logged beach forest. Mistake: I tried the shoreline at 15:00 spring tide — kelp-slick rocks, cut my boot; land at slack low tide, the mossy forest is above the 2 m line not on the beach. The Murray & Darling River Rendezvous is an incredible tour packed with enriching experiences and learning opportunities. Simon, our coach driver, and Leanne, our tour leader, made this journey a true success, not only through their shared knowledge and meticulous organisation but with their warm friendliness that fostered harmony among all participants. During the long drives, we were entertained with music, sing-alongs, jokes, and engaging quizzes. The accommodation and meals were top-notch, but the real highlight was the fantastic activities we enjoyed. From descending into a mine at Lightning Ridge to admire sculptured artwork on the walls, gliding up the river aboard a paddle steamer, marveling at sculptures during sunset overlooking Broken Hill, watching a play about Ned Kelly in Glenrowan, to exploring the stunning Cowra gardens—every moment was memorable.
