#MarchGoodPlaces2025 During the off-season, I stayed at the resort next to the Hakuba Ski Resort - Hotel Green Plaza Hakuba. It cost less than NT$4,000 and included breakfast for two! Although I can’t ski, at least I can soak in the hot springs, which is pretty nice. The appearance of the Baima Green Plaza Hotel is very eye-catching. The white townhouse with a red pointed roof looks like a cottage in a fairy tale. Coupled with the blue sky and green land, it is super dreamy! The hotel is actually quite old, as can be seen from the fact that the room card is used as a key. The decoration of the Japanese-style room is also a bit old-fashioned. The tatami floor mat makes the space feel larger, and the overall light is dim. Fortunately, the beautiful scenery outside the window greatly adds to the charm, as you can see the beautiful mountain and forest scenery of the ski resort. Being close to the ski resort is a plus in winter, but it also means that the location is relatively far from the city. Apart from the facilities of the resort itself, there is nothing to see outside, so it is really more convenient to drive here by yourself. #Hakuba Skiing #Nagano

#Cable car Tsugaike Plateau is a great place for hiking in the summer and a famous ski resort in the winter. Taking the cable car up and down the mountain is a very comfortable trip. Starting from Tsugaike Plateau, you need to take two types of cable cars, and the scenery is super beautiful. It also feels like taking a cable car in Switzerland. The first is a small cable car like the Jiu Zu Cable Car. Because there are few tourists, our family can take a car by ourselves. It takes about 20 minutes, and then we walk a short distance to change to a large cable car and continue to ride for about 7 minutes. Tsugaike's Gondola box cable car (large cable car) is 4,120 meters long and is one of the longest cable car lines in Japan. There were staff members on the large cable car giving explanations. Although they were speaking Japanese and I couldn't understand them, I knew they were explaining the ecology of nearby plants. The most special thing was the many purple cones on the treetops. I checked and it should be the purple cones of fir. We went to Tsugaike Nature Park on Tsugaike Plateau, where you can enter for free with your cable car ticket. The park is really ecologically rich, with many flowers blooming in summer. Cortina D’Ampezzo is undoubtedly the most famous of all the small mountain towns in the Dolomites and due to its popularity, it’s also one of the busiest and most expensive. I’ve spent a lot of time exploring Cortina and its surroundings. The high street boasts high-end fashion stores and fancy restaurants so if you want to intersperse your mountain holiday with some shopping then Cortina is the place to do it. The popularity of Cortina is definitely justified. There’s so much to do around the town, it’s difficult not to recommend it to most people coming to the Dolomites. #passionpassport #mytripvlog #urbanexplorer #tripblazers #awesomepic #cafe #awesomepic #celebratewithtrip #couplestrip #2024travelwish #passionpassport

As soon as I arrived at Green Plaza Hotel Baima, I was shocked by the red-roofed European-style building. As soon as I entered the lobby, it was full of strong European style, red carpets, and spiral staircases, which were very suitable for the mood of vacation. Dinner was served at the buffet restaurant on the second floor, which had a variety of delicious food, including grilled Shinshu beef, various sashimi, fried shrimp tempura, curry, steamed dumplings, pasta, udon, soba, baked food, salad bar, drinks, and alcohol. Some of the alcohol was at your own expense, but it really filled you up. The highlight of a hot spring hotel is the hot spring bathing and yukata. This hotel is very considerate and provides yukatas of various sizes for you to choose from. In addition, the guest rooms are equipped with Japanese tatami. You must take photos as souvenirs! The hotel also has an area for playing billiards and pool, where the children had a lot of fun. When I was having breakfast in the morning, I found out that there was a ski resort next to me. The scenery was great, and it made me feel very happy while having breakfast. Next time I will come here again to spend a special winter and experience a different seasonal atmosphere.

Come to Hokuriku, Japan and stay in a super mysterious hotel Tudor architecture has a fairytale feel The European-style building with red roof is surrounded by mountains and there is a super large ski resort behind it. The overall feeling is not only fairytale, but also a castle hotel with European style. The room features a Western style with a Japanese tatami style. The sum of the two together is really unique. The only thing is that the toilet is a bit small. However, the hotel's large public bath is very large and the spa water column is really good. The buffet dinner is delicious, rich and varied. The hot spring pool is great. It is a hotel worth staying in. The open-air hot spring also offers a direct view of the ski resort. #accommodation in japan #nagano #hakuba onsen

Tenguhara is probably the first resting point if you start climbing from the trailhead at Tsugaike Nature Park toward Hakuba Oike Pond. It is a magnificent wetland, and Mount Hakuba Norikura can be seen in the distance. There is a boardwalk, so it is easy to walk. However, ahead of you, there are snowfields in the summer and rocky areas in the fall, so you will want to make sure to recover your strength. #MountainClimbing #AutumnFoliage #Tenguhara #Wetland #Hakuba

Tsugaike Nature Park is one of Japan's top spots for viewing autumn leaves. It has been featured in various media outlets, so many people may already know the name. As you walk along the paths maintained in the beautiful wetlands, you will be greeted by a variety of highland plants and beautiful autumn leaves. On sunny days, the peaks of the Hakuba mountain range enhance the beautiful scenery even more. It gets very crowded, but we recommend you visit. #Mountain climbing #Autumn leaves #Nagano #Tsugaike Nature Park

Tsugaike Hutte is one of two buildings located near the trailhead to Mt. Hakuba in Tsugaike Nature Park. It is quite beautiful for a mountain hut, has a cafe attached, and can be used by non-guests. As it is a mountain hut, shared rooms are the norm, but private rooms are also available. The classic idea is to spend the night here and then start hiking Mt. Hakuba early the next morning. #Mountaineering #AutumnFoliage #TsugaikeNaturePark #Nagano

This is Shizen-en Station, the last stop of the Tsugaike Ropeway. By the time you get here, you've risen to a much higher altitude, and the scenery is completely different from the foot of the mountain. On the ropeway, the mountain scenery and the recent state of Tsugaike are explained to you, making you look forward to the scenery ahead. The station building itself is quite clean, and has everything you need, including toilets and souvenir shops. The autumn leaves visible through the windows are truly beautiful. #autumnleaves #mountainclimbing #ropeway #tsugaikekogen #tsugaikenaturepark

This is Tsugadaimon Station, the station at the base of the Tsugaike Ropeway. From this point onwards, it becomes harder to get cell phone signals, and you start to feel like you're in the mountains. There is a large sign in front of the ropeway station, and it seems you can take commemorative photos. The surrounding area is completely covered in autumn leaves, and I can't wait to see the scenery ahead. #autumnleaves #mountainclimbing #tsugaikekogen #ropeway

Tsugaike Kogen Station is the entrance to Tsugaike Nature Park, one of Japan's most famous spots for viewing autumn leaves, and the ropeway station that serves as the gateway to hiking Mt. Hakuba. Tsugaike Kogen becomes a ski resort in the winter, and the ropeway facilities are also very well-equipped. The exterior looks relatively new. There are also foot baths and a cafe within the facility, so it seems like you could even enjoy yourself here. #hiking #hotsprings #autumnleaves #tsugaikekogen #ropeway

Climbing Mt. Norikura (3,026m), the clouds kept rolling in and disappearing - revealing turquoise crater lakes, rugged ridgelines and the first little patches of autumn below. 🍁 One of those hikes where the view changed every few minutes. 😊 #MtNorikura #Nagano #JapanAlps #JapanHiking #AutumnInJapan

Another day without rushing. Driving leisurely, stopping in small towns whenever I see a beautiful view, strolling around, looking for a cafe to sit by the river, then continuing on. Japan during the Green Season might not have red leaves, or white snow on the mountains, but what I got was lush greenery, freshness, and cool, comfortable weather. Low-lying clouds covered the mountains the entire way. It's another atmosphere I really love 🌿⛰️ Along the way, I saw many Japanese people out traveling, cycling, walking, and rafting. As for me, I did my usual thing… Stopping when tired, stopping when hungry, getting out to take pictures whenever I saw a beautiful spot 😂 My favorite part was probably sitting quietly and looking at Lake Aoki. Not having to do anything, just looking at the mountains and the lake in front of me. That's the good thing about choosing to travel by car. We don't have to race against time and don't need a tight plan every day. Sometimes the highlight of a road trip isn't the big places we intend to visit, but the small towns, ordinary roads, and the cafes we stumble upon by chance. And the view along the way made us stop the car 💚 Green Season Japan — another kind of beautiful. 🇯🇵🌿 #JapanRoadTrip #GreenSeason #Nagano #LakeAoki #Hakuba #RoadTripJapan #BeBraveBeEssy

"I wanted to see the stunning ridgeline from Funakoshi-no-Kashira." Mountain weather can be unpredictable and often shrouded in fog, but this time, a breathtaking ridgeline and a vast sea of clouds stretched out before my eyes. It was a special moment, as if I were walking through a paradise in the sky. Just before reaching the summit of Mt. Shirouma, I miraculously witnessed a Brocken spectre. It was such a mystical sight that I felt as though I was being rewarded for good deeds—or perhaps I had used up a lifetime’s worth of luck! ✨ I stayed at Shirouma Sanso, one of Japan's largest and most historic mountain huts. For dinner at the famous Sky Plaza Hakuba, I opted for the limited-edition beef stew upgrade. The quality was so high it was hard to believe I was on top of a mountain; it was an absolute delicacy that makes it hard to go back to regular mountain hut meals! 🍴 (*Note: Dinner upgrades must be requested by 4:00 PM!) The staff were fluent in English and very welcoming to everyone. The atmosphere was wonderful, with foreign hikers smiling and returning my "Konnichiwa" as we passed each other. Unfortunately, the summit was inside the clouds the next morning, but I started my descent feeling warm and recharged after sleeping in a cozy futon. Near Mt. Hakuba-Norikura, I encountered two ptarmigans quietly taking in the view, a truly heartwarming moment. After the descent, I treated my tired body to a hot spring soak and some soba noodles. ♨️ Stunning views, warm encounters, and delicious food. It was a blissful two days that captured the very best of the mountains. 📅 Timetable & Route 【DAY 1】 03:45 Depart Tokyo 🚗 07:00 Arrive at Tsugaike Ropeway Station 09:00 Start trekking 🥾 15:15 Check-in at Shirouma Sanso 20:00 Bedtime 🌙 【DAY 2】 04. 00 Wake up & Bento breakfast 🍱 05. 30 Start descent 10:30 Arrive at Tsugaike Ropeway / Trek complete ✨ 🏡 Stay Shirouma Sanso There are no showers, but the toilets and water stations are very clean and comfortable. To protect the environment, using face wash or toothpaste is prohibited on the mountain. I highly recommend using "Chacott Cleansing Water" on a cotton pad—it acts as a cleanser, face wash, and toner all in one! ♨️ After Trekking ・Hakuba Happo Onsen - Happo-no-yu (Entrance fee: 1,000 yen) Equipped with shampoo, body soap, and hair dryers. Towel rentals are available. You only need to bring your own makeup remover and skincare! 🥢 Gourmet ・Soba Shubo Zen A favorite soba shop I just had to revisit after being so impressed last year. The noodles are great, and the side dishes are exquisite.

Deep in the mountains of Hakuba, Nagano, lies an English half-timbered manor. Its striking bright red pointed roof pairs with black-and-white timber-framed walls. The neat cross patterns spread layer by layer along the building, outlining a rich European style amid the green wilderness. Next to the main building are several simple annexes. Old red roofs blend with green grass and wild trees. A vintage pickup truck quietly rests on the gravel road. Shedding the main building’s refinement, the manor gains a more natural, rustic charm. The hillside is planted with hydrangeas that bloom in clusters during the rainy season. White and pale purple flower balls crowd together, their soft colors contrasting with the manor’s strong architectural lines. Looking up, endless green mountains stretch out. Clouds drift over the pointed roofs. A gentle breeze carries the scent of grass, trees, and flowers across the lawn. Visitors stroll slowly among the flowers, gazing up at the grand building. The elegance of the English manor, the openness of the highland forest, and the gentleness of the hydrangea sea blend here. Bustling yet peaceful, quiet yet not lonely, the mountain scenery and foreign architecture embrace each other softly. Time seems to slow down with the mountain clouds. Here, it feels like stepping into a fairy tale world!

The museum is clean and tidy, with well-organized displays. Avoiding peak tourist seasons means fewer crowds, making it easy to take photos. 2. Especially during snow and frost season, your phone and camera batteries will run out quickly, so plan your equipment in advance. · Food Suggestions: The breakfast options at the Bei'an Phoenix Hotel are average. Nearby, try the local "Guo Bao Rou" (sweet and sour pork) or street-side baked flatbreads – the aroma fills the entire street! · Winter Precautions: Roads in Bei'an and Xiaogu Village can become icy in winter. Wear non-slip shoes and warm clothing. It's recommended to book ski equipment in advance; it gets crowded during peak season, so arrive early to avoid crowds. If you're visiting Hakuba in the winter and want to give skiing or snowboarding a shot, there are tons of slopes to choose from. It all depends on what you're looking for and how extreme you want to get. Tsugaike is definitely one of the best spots for beginners! If you're a total newbie and aren't sure if you'll even like it, you can just rent some gear and practice at the base of the mountain first. There's no need to buy a gondola pass right away, as the lower area is wide open with plenty of room to comfortably practice your balance, braking, and turns. For snowboarders, make sure to set aside plenty of time—it might take a whole day of practice just to get the hang of controlling your board! 😆 Beyond the slopes, the vibe at Tsugaike is absolutely gorgeous. The surrounding snow-capped mountains offer breathtaking views. Once you're done hitting the slopes, there's even a foot bath area where you can kick back and relax before heading home. A quick tip: be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as the buses heading back to the village stop running pretty early. If you do happen to miss the last one, you can still catch a taxi back. If you're planning a multi-day trip or want to ride until the evening, I highly recommend booking a place to stay near the resort. It’s way more convenient—you won’t have to rush to catch a bus, and you can fully enjoy playing in the snow or taking a stroll to soak up the village atmosphere. For first-timers looking for their very first slope, Tsugaike is an awesome choice in the Hakuba area. ❄️⛷️🏔️ That being said, you should still have some basic knowledge or just go ahead and hire an instructor, as extreme sports always come with the risk of accidents at any time.

This road trip from Narita Airport to Hakuba in Nagano was a magical experience, surrounded by snow! Located at 12851 Chikuniotsu, the hotel is just a short ride from local train stations with shuttles available—no stress getting here, even if it’s cloudy or rainy. The ski rental shop and lockers on-site are lifesavers for active days. After a long day on the slopes, soak in the relaxing hot springs—an absolute must for unwinding sore muscles. Families and groups will love the spacious room setups, including tatami areas and multiple beds for flexibility. If you need help in Chinese, the front desk staff can assist, though English can be hit or miss. Personal tip: While the hotel is comfy for a ski holiday, bring your own toiletries and double-check bedding charges. Room cleaning is every three days, so those who like a spotless stay may want to ask for extra service. Don’t miss grabbing bread and local treats at the dining area—perfect fuel for snowy activities! Booking is a breeze through trip.com. For Otari first-timers, plan at least one hot spring night and get an early start for the best slopes. #Hakuba #Otari #SkiHotel #JapanTravel #HotSpring
