The Kind of Beach You Think Only Exists in Screensavers
#springtravel Ouvea Island in Loyalty Islands Province is honestly one of those places that feels unreal the moment you arrive. The sand is insanely white and soft, and the water is that perfect clear turquoise you usually only see in photos. What makes it even better is how quiet it is. No crowds, no noise, just long empty beaches and chill island vibes. Walking along the shore feels endless, and every angle looks like a postcard. Locals are friendly and the pace of life is super slow, which makes it easy to fully relax. It is not about activities or luxury, it is about disconnecting and enjoying pure nature. Perfect spot if you just want peace and simple beauty.
Mouli Bridge (Ouvea Island)
Muri Bridge connects the islands of Ouvea and Muri.
To the west of the bridge are the cliffs of the Wrekin, and to the east is a lagoon of mysterious hues.
I went there to relax, as the sea is said to be a deep blue or a bright emerald blue, but unfortunately it rained, rain, and more rain...
When the weather is good, the sea below the bridge becomes a passageway for fish, so you can apparently see them swimming.
Unfortunately...there were no fish to be seen at all.
But even in the rain it was so beautiful, so I imagine it must be truly amazing when the weather is good.
Ouvea Island Day Tour
I'd always wanted to visit the "island closest to heaven" I'd seen in a movie as a child, and finally made it happen.
It seemed like it would be quite difficult to go on my own, so I signed up for a local day tour. Since it's a small island, I heard it would be enjoyable even on a day trip, so I signed up.
The schedule was to depart Noumea Airport first thing in the morning and return to Noumea Airport in the evening.
Unfortunately, it rained that day... (crying)
It was beautiful even in the rain, so I imagine it would have been dozens of times more beautiful in fine weather... I guess that can't be helped.
However, perhaps because of the weather, there were very few tourists.
While I was on Ouvea, I had lunch at the hotel (the only one apparently). It was raining, so it was a great way to rest.
