The entrance fee is sixty yuan, and there are so few tourists you can practically have the whole mountain to yourself. Sanbaishan is the source of the Dongjiang River; the water is so clear you can see the pebbles at the bottom. The scenic area features a glass walkway overlooking a crystal-clear lake. It might make the timid's legs tremble, but once you cross it, you're in a primeval forest with air so sweet you'd want to take it all home. ⏰ In September, the mornings and evenings at Sanbaishan are already cool, so bring a light jacket. At midday, you can still wear short sleeves under the sun. Don't miss Ganzhou city either. The ancient city wall runs along the Gongjiang River. Walking along it in the evening, the river breeze blows in your face, and smoke curls from the chimneys of old houses on the opposite bank. Red lanterns hang in the old houses of Zao'er Lane, and the bluestone paths are polished smooth by time. 🍜 The mugwort cakes sold at the alley entrance come in both savory and sweet fillings. They're best eaten piping hot, fresh out of the pan, and cost two yuan each. 06 Altay Region|Xinjiang September in Altay is truly the golden season. The birch forests of Kanas begin to turn yellow, the lake water is a milky blue, and when the morning mist rises from the lake, you can't tell if it's a painting or reality. 🚄 It takes about four hours by bus from Beitun. The entrance fee plus shuttle bus fare is a little over 200 yuan, but it's worth the price for just one look. ⚠️ Temperatures start to drop in late September, so a thick coat is a must. The temperature difference between day and night is so great that you can experience all four seasons in a single day. Keketuohai sounds like a sea, but it's actually a canyon. The Ertis River rushes through the valley floor, and the mountains on both sides have been eroded by the wind into various bizarre shapes. Take the shuttle bus to Shenzhong Mountain, then hike two kilometers further in. The entrance fee to Zhenhu Wetland Park is 60 yuan. Take a rowboat through the reeds, the boatwoman humming a tune, water birds flying overhead, and the wind carrying the sweet scent of aquatic plants. ⏰ Enter at 8:30 am when it opens; the mist on the lake hasn't dissipated yet, creating an ethereal atmosphere. Qintong Ancient Town is right next to the wetland. No need to specifically look for attractions; just wander along the stone-paved streets. The walls of the old houses are covered with trumpet vines, and stalls selling fish balls in the alleys are steaming hot—a box costs 10 yuan, and they're so bouncy you could use them as ping-pong balls. 🍜 Find a small restaurant in town for lunch. Although the Zhenhu crabs aren't at their fattest yet, it's still worth trying them early. Visit the Daohe Ancient Street in the city center in the evening. It's not crowded, and the lights gently illuminate the old houses. Find a teahouse, order a pot of Taizhou dried bean curd with hot dried bean curd, and listen to the old man at the next table chatting in his soft Taizhou dialect. Suddenly, life slows down. If your budget allows, stay overnight in a guesthouse in the old street; the river view is right outside the window, and it only costs around 300 yuan. 08 Wenzhou City | Zhejiang Wenzhou people are good at business, but the scenery of Wenzhou is underestimated. Yandang Mountain Scenic Area is quite famous, but there aren't many people visiting in September. The night view of Lingfeng Scenic Area is a must-see. Enter the park after 7 pm, and those ordinary stones during the day transform into various animals and figures under the lights and moonlight. The guide's explanation is fascinating, making the 50 yuan entrance fee worthwhile. Even at the tail end of the September rainy season, Dalongqiu Waterfall retains its power. Water cascades down from a nearly 200-meter-high cliff, and standing below, the spray is so refreshing it makes you want to scream. ⏰ The water volume is highest in the afternoon; if you go in the morning, there might only be a trickle. Walking along the cliffside walkway in Fangdong Scenic Area, with a sheer drop below, can be a bit nerve-wracking in the wind, but the scenery is absolutely stunning. Liu Bowen's hometown is in Wencheng County. It's a detour from Yandang Mountain, but worth it. The Baizhangji Waterfall group is a series of waterfalls, each cascading down in three tiers, more spectacular than the last, with the lowest pool a vibrant emerald green. ⚠️ There are many steps; those with elderly people or children should be cautious, but young people will feel completely refreshed after walking down. 🍜 Bowen sesame seed cakes in Wencheng County, filled with preserved vegetable and pork, are incredibly crispy when you bite into them fresh out of the oven, and cost only three yuan each. Of these eight places, I personally recommend Dandong and Yulin the most. One is gentle, the other desolate; both are typical examples of places where you can see amazing scenery on a budget.
