#australiatrip Googong Cascades is one of the hidden gems of the Googong Foreshores region, near Queanbeyan and Canberra. It offers a combination of dramatic granite cliffs,natural water pool, and very easy access Located in the northern part of the Googong Foreshores, the Cascades is an area where water from the Googong Dam flows through a gap in granite rocks, creating a series of small waterfalls and clear pools. Despite its proximity to the dam infrastructure, the atmosphere feels very wild and natural.One of the main attractions is its very short track. Distance: Approximately 200 meters (round trip). Time: 5–15 minutes of leisurely walking. Difficulty: Grade 2 (Easy). The trail is well-established and fairly flat. Although there are some steps and rocky areas around the lookout, Starting Point: Park in the Googong Pump Station area. Don't be surprised if you see an electrical substation at first; the path to nature is right at the end of the parking lot.

I've been exploring quite a few walks around NSW, and this time I did the East Rim and Wildflower walking tracks at Fitzroy Falls in Morton National Park. If you only visit the main Fitzroy Falls lookout and leave, you're actually missing quite a lot! The full walk is 6.7km return following the eastern rim through bushland, rainforest sections and a series of lookouts over the Yarrunga Valley. It's officially rated Grade 3 and takes around 2–3 hours. 💦 Fitzroy Falls Of course, the waterfall is the star. Fitzroy Falls drops almost 100 metres over the sandstone cliffs into the valley below. The main lookout is only around 150m from the visitor centre, so you don't actually need to do the full hike to see it. But I definitely think continuing onto the East Rim is worth it. 🥾 The East Rim Once I got further away from the main waterfall area, it became much more of a proper bushwalk. There are sections through eucalyptus forest and rainforest and I really enjoyed how the scenery kept changing rather than just walking from one lookout to another. The track itself wasn't particularly difficult for me — more of a relaxing hike where I could actually enjoy the surroundings. 📍 May Lookout This is one of the first viewpoints along the East Rim and only about 15 minutes from the visitor centre. From here you get beautiful views across Yarrunga Valley, surrounded by native bushland. 💦 My favourite view One of my favourite parts was getting further around the rim and seeing Fitzroy Falls from the side. There's something completely different about seeing the waterfall from across the gorge — you really get a sense of how tall the cliffs are. Warragong Lookout, about 1.25km from the visitor centre, is specifically known for this side-on view of Fitzroy Falls. 🌳 Worth doing the full walk? For me, yes. If you just want to see Fitzroy Falls, the main lookout is incredibly easy to reach. But if you enjoy hiking, I'd continue along the East Rim. #australiatrip Flea Creek is quite an iconic destination for off-road adventure and camping enthusiasts, located within Brindabella National Park, near the border of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).Flea Creek Campground offers a secluded and serene valley setting. This is not a busy "roadside" type of campground; it's a real escape into the wild.Situated in a deep valley beside a clear river, the sounds are dominated by flowing water and birdsong.Very limited (bush camping). There are pit toilets and several designated campfire areas. There is no drinking water, so you must bring your own.The area is quite small and operates on a first-come, first-served basis (or through a booking system via NSW National Parks if the new rules apply).
