🧜♀️The legend of the mermaid who couldn't laugh The most famous story of Blautopf is about the Beautiful Lau (Die Schöne Lau). She was a mermaid who couldn't laugh and gave birth to stillborn children. Her husband, the King of the Black Sea, exiled her to Blautopf until she laughed five times. They say she never managed, and her tears still colour the water blue. 💎Why is the water so blue? The secret lies in physics and geology. The water is saturated with tiny particles of limestone that scatter light. The blue rays of the spectrum are reflected back to the surface, creating that incredible colour. It's the second-largest karst spring in Germany discharging up to 2,300 litres of water per second. 💠The main mystery: a bottomless lake People tried to measure the depth of Blautopf as early as 1718, but the plumb line showed only 19 metres. Modern data suggests 22 metres, but locals have considered the lake bottomless for centuries. Legend says a mermaid lives in it, tearing measuring ropes and dragging them to the bottom. 🎒What to do by the lake · Walk around — the lake is in the centre of the old town, next to Blaubeuren Monastery (Kloster Blaubeuren). Surrounding it are picturesque streets and historic houses. · Have coffee at Café am Blautopf — the café stands right by the water, with the best view of the lake and the historic forge with its mill wheel. Guests warn: it gets crowded on weekends. · See the waterfall — if water levels allow, you can catch a small waterfall formed by the height drop. ⭐️Practical information · Where: Blaubeuren, Baden-Württemberg, 16 km from Ulm. · Entry: Free, open 24/7. · How to get there: From Stuttgart by train to Ulm (~45 minutes), then a regional train to Blaubeuren (~11 minutes). From the station to the lake — about 10 minutes on foot. · How much time to allow: 30–60 minutes is enough to walk around and take photos. · Where to stay: In Blaubeuren there are Holiday & Stay Blautopf Apartments right in the centre, 57 metres from the lake. Clean, cosy, with a kitchen and balcony. #travel2026 #naturalwonders

If there is a place on earth where gravity feels secondary to the sheer force of nature, it is Rize. Tucked into the steep northeast corner of Turkey’s Black Sea region, Rize isn’t merely visited—it is absorbed through the damp mountain air, the thunderous roar of glacial rivers, and the quiet awe of standing on an alpine ridge looking down on a sea of swirling white clouds. To travel through Rize’s deep Çamlıhemşin valleys is to move between two distinct worlds: the roaring water paths carved through ancient green forests down below, and the silent, cloud-draped mountain plateaus (yaylalar) perched high above the rest of the world. 🌊 Part I: The Water Paths & Stone Sentinels of Fırtına Valley The journey into Rize’s heart follows the relentless rhythm of water. Turning inland from the coast, the road grips the edges of Fırtına Deresi (Storm River), a surging turquoise torrent fed by melting alpine snowpack high up in the Kaçkar Mountains. The Ottoman Stone Arches Spanning this wild river are centuries-old Ottoman stone arch bridges—architectural marvels built without mortar, anchored directly into granite cliffs. Walking across the slick, cobble-paved curve of Çamlıhemşin Bridges like Timmisvat or Şenyuva, you feel the mist rising from the rapids below. The dark green boxwood trees and dripping moss lining the canyon walls make the entire valley feel entirely untouched by time. Zilkale: The Fortress in the Canopy Deeper up the canyon, perched precariously on a razor-thin rock ledge 750 meters above the valley floor, stands Zilkale (Bell Castle). Looking out from its stone battlements into the gaping, forest-filled abyss, the castle feels like something conjured from a dark fairytale. Below, the river winds like a silver ribbon; above, thick mountain fog rolls silently down the peaks, swallowing the forest tree by tree. ☁️ Part II: Kingdom Above the Clouds: Pokut & Huser Yaylası If the valleys belong to the water, the heights belong to the sky. Ascending from the valley floor to Rize’s high plateaus is a transformational experience. As your vehicle climbs the switchback dirt trails, you pass through dense chestnut forests, then towering fir trees, until suddenly—the trees disappear, the thick fog breaks, and you burst out into blinding sunlight. Pokut Yaylası: Wooden Chalets in the Sky Sitting at over 2,000 meters above sea level, Pokut is a timeless alpine settlement of dark timber chalets scattered across carpeted green ridges. Standing at the crest of Pokut, you look out not at neighboring mountains, but at Bulut Denizi—a literal, rolling ocean of fluffy clouds filling the valley below. The peaks of the Kaçkar range poke through the white expanse like isolated islands in a sky-high archipelago. Sunset at Huser: The Highest Swing Continuing higher to Huser Yaylası, the sunset spectacle reaches its peak. Here, as the golden afternoon light hits the cloud cover, giant wooden swings set at the cliff edge let you literally swing out over the abyss. With a hot glass of tea in hand and cold mountain wind on your face, watching the sun dip into the cloud sea turns the entire sky into shades of violet, amber, and fiery rose. 🧀 Part III: Culinary Comfort in the Mountain Cold Rize’s damp climate and cool mountain air set the perfect stage for one of the most satisfying comfort foods on the planet: Muhlama (also known as Mıhlama or Kuymak). After hours of walking through misty trails, sitting inside a cozy, pine-scented wooden chalet while a copper pan of muhlama bubbles on the table is unforgettable: The Texture: Coarsely ground yellow cornmeal cooked with ungodly amounts of rich, aromatic local butter until golden oil pools around the edges. The Stretch: Melted, stringy kolot cheese is folded in until the dish becomes an elastic, gooey mass that stretches over a meter high when dipped into with crusty, freshly baked corn bread. The Tea Pairing: Followed immediately by piping-hot, crimson-red Rize tea—harvested from the very terraced hillsides you passed on your way up. 💡 Essential Traveler Hacks for Visiting Rize 4WD is Non-Negotiable: The roads up to Pokut, Sal, and Huser are rugged, unpaved mountain tracks. Rent a proper 4x4 vehicle or hire a local mountain driver in Çamlıhemşin—do not attempt these climbs in a standard sedan! Pack for Four Seasons in One Day: The weather in the Kaçkar region changes within minutes. A warm sunny morning at sea level can turn into a 10°C chilly downpour at higher elevations. Always bring waterproof shells and thermal layers. Catch the Cloud Sea Timing: The "Sea of Clouds" (Bulut Denizi) is most dramatic in the late afternoon (between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM) as valley moisture evaporates and cools against the alpine summits. #thingstodo #travelexperience #travel #travel2026

When you set off on your first cruise, you really have no idea what to expect. You imagine the sea, the sun, beautiful cities, and the buffet... but you end up getting so much more. ❤️ My journey on the ASTORIA GRANDE from December 30th to January 6th was a total fairy tale and, without exaggeration, one of the best vacations of my life! ✨ It was love at first sight. It might not be the world's largest ship... but when I walked up to it, I just stopped and thought, "Wow, this is majestic!" It was my first cruise, and I fell in love with the ASTORIA GRANDE from the very first second. The welcome on board was incredibly warm and friendly. I immediately felt like a huge celebration was about to begin. 🚢 🌊 The storm and a bit of advice. Of course, it wasn't without its adventures. We headed out to sea just before New Year’s and hit a storm! 😂 I didn't feel great the first day and had to spend some time lying down. 👉 A pro-tip for first-timers: there’s a doctor on board, and you can get motion sickness pills at the reception desk. Just remember: the first day is always the toughest as your body adapts. That’s exactly what happened to me! After that first day, I was able to enjoy the cruise to the fullest. 🛏 The inside cabin—the perfect choice! We chose an inside cabin without a window, and it turned out to be a great move. I barely spent any time there anyway—only for sleeping and changing. I was out on deck all day! So, if you don't plan on hanging out in your room, an inside cabin is a fantastic way to save money. 💰 🍽 The FOOD—absolute love! Was it good? No. It was amazing! 😍 The variety, the presentation, the portions—and something new every single day. Honestly, I wanted to give the chef a standing ovation. Every meal was a little gastronomic celebration. 🎉 Entertainment and star-studded guests A cruise is about so much more than just food. Every day was packed with concerts, events, and a full schedule. There was never a dull moment! We even had some real celebrities on board! ✨ Traveling with us were: ⭐ Zhenya and Sergey from "Uyezdny Gorod" ⭐ The "Gipsies" group ⭐ Potekhin from "Ruki Vverkh" And you know what was the best part? No ego. We ate near each other every day, exchanged smiles, wished each other "bon appétit," and joked around like we’d known each other for years. It was so warm, down-to-earth, and genuine. We even managed to snap a commemorative photo at the end. ❤️ Honestly, it felt like New Year’s Eve on the ASTORIA GRANDE lasted all seven days and was never going to end! 🎄✨ 🤍 The White Party—pure magic! The White Party was the perfect final note. It wasn't just the last night; it was truly magical. Everyone was dressed in white, surrounded by music, smiles, dancing, and a wonderful sense of unity. The white theme seemed to wash away the daily grind and our usual roles. All that was left were emotions, real conversations, laughter, and the urge to dance until the very end. Each of us became part of this bright, beautiful celebration. 🕺💃 🙏 A huge shoutout to the crew! I have to give a special mention to the ASTORIA GRANDE team and crew. Their hospitality, kindness, and genuine care were evident in every "Good morning" and every smile. It felt like I wasn't just a guest, but a dear friend who was truly welcome. The coziness, comfort, and attention to detail made this trip so special. 💔 Then came time to leave... My suitcase was packed, but my heart stayed on board. ❤️🚢 I really didn't want to leave. In short—I’m thrilled, amazed, and so grateful to the entire ASTORIA GRANDE team for these unforgettable seven days. This was my first cruise. And you know the main question I’m asking myself now? It’s not "Did I like it?" but: "When’s the next one?" 😍 I’ll definitely be back! 🚢❤️ --- The rest of the story is already on my page—check out my stops off the ship and my walk through Istanbul 🇹🇷✨ I’m sharing everything exactly as I saw and felt it. Follow along so you don't miss any new adventures! I’d love to see you there. ❤️

There are places where nature seems to have deliberately created scenery for legends. The Vorontsov Caves near Sochi are exactly that. You descend 60 meters underground, walk through halls with colorful lighting, listen to the sound of an underground river, and feel as if you’ve entered another world. And all around lies the Colchic forest, dense and humid - a place where it’s easy to believe in ancient mysteries. The Vorontsov cave system is one of the longest karst systems in Russia, with a total length reaching 11–12 km. The complex includes four caves: Vorontsovskaya, Labirintovaya, Dolgaya, and Kabaniy Proval. The upper level of Vorontsovskaya Cave is equipped for visitors: a route of about 500–600 meters with paths, bridges, and lighting that turns mineral formations into fairytale figures. The tour lasts 45–50 minutes, with a maximum depth of around 60 meters. Inside, you’ll find the Prometheus Grotto with massive stalactites and traces of ancient collapses, the Musical Hall and the Hall of Silence, underground streams, lakes, and even internal waterfalls. The walls preserve traces of inhabitants who lived here long before us: archaeologists have discovered Paleolithic human settlements in the caves dating back 35–40 thousand years, and even earlier, cave bears and other animals sought shelter here. But the magic of this place isn’t only underground. The Vorontsov Caves are surrounded by the relict Colchic forest, tens of millions of years old. Dense thickets of boxwood, ferns, and lianas, constant humidity, fog, and silence broken only by the sound of water create the feeling of an ancient, almost prehistoric world. Many call this forest mystical - here, time seems to flow differently, and the path you walk on remembers both prehistoric humans and wild beasts. 📌I recommend visiting in the morning or on weekdays to avoid crowds, and wearing comfortable shoes with a light jacket: the cave is cool and damp. For an extra dose of mystique, go after rain - the forest becomes even denser, more humid, and foggy. The Vorontsov Caves are a place where history, nature, and legends intertwine into one. Here, you don’t just look at stalactites - you feel that you’re part of something far greater and more ancient. If you’re seeking the atmosphere of a true adventure in Sochi, this is the place to go. 📍Address: Krasnodar Krai, Sochi, Khosta District, Vorontsovka village, Vorontsovskaya Street (Vorontsov Caves, Sochi National Park). #adventuretrips #travel2026 #russiatravel #sochi

#epictravelmoments If you’re staying in Novy Afon, one of the best ways to see another side of Abkhazia is to take a day trip into the mountains. 🚌 Organised bus and minibus tours leave from Novy Afon and usually take around 8–9 hours. Depending on the route, they can include: 💧 waterfalls 🏔️ Bzyb Gorge 💙 Blue Lake 🪨 Yupshara Canyon 🌲 mountain forests 💙 Lake Ritsa 🌿 Little Ritsa on some longer tours You can also find similar mountain tours starting from Gagra and Sukhumi, but Novy Afon is a convenient base if you’re already staying there. 🚗 Tours are a good option because the mountain roads are remote, and many operators arrange pickup in Novy Afon. The route itself is part of the experience. You leave the Black Sea coast and gradually climb through green valleys, dramatic gorges and mountain landscapes. For me, this is one of the best ways to see how different Abkhazia can be within a single day. Would you take the bus tour or prefer to explore the mountains independently? 🏔️👇 #NovyAfon #NewAthos #Abkhazia #LakeRitsa #LittleRitsa #Caucasus #MountainTravel #NatureTravel

#slowtraveling Ayder Plateau (1,350 m) in the Kaçkar Mountains is the gateway to Black Sea yayla culture. From Rize, dolmuş to Çamlıhemşin (₺120, card at the Rize otogar), then shared 4x4 to Ayder (₺80, cash only). The cloud forest road from Çamlıhemşin to Ayder is 19 km of switchbacks where moss eats the stone walls, fog rolls in by noon, and Laz tea houses steam on the verge. I stayed at a yayla pension (₺900/night, cash, breakfast included). Hiked the Bulut Waterfall spur (2 km, free) at 8 am—moss on the rhododendron trunks, 30 waterfalls in May snowmelt. Mistake: I trusted the weather app—sun at 7, whiteout at 10. Pack a shell. A pension owner lent me his Laz baglama and played a tuneabout the moss that “holds the mountain’s breath.” Kindness beat. Permit: none for day hikes, but the Kaçkar summit zone (3,000 m+) needs a guide + municipal registration (₺500, arranged in Ayder). Is a yayla still a pasture when the cows wear bells for tourists?

Krasnaya Polyana is a place that completely shatters the "Soviet Sochi" stereotype. There are no basic check-the-box tourist traps here, but there is a level of service that will surprise even a seasoned traveler who has seen it all in Thailand . It's not just a ski resort; it's a year-round paradise for lovers of active holidays and stunning views. Winter brings perfect snow and slopes for all skill levels. Summer offers trekking through ancient forests and breathtaking panoramas from an altitude of 2,000+ meters . My Impressions I came here spontaneously, without high expectations, and was pleasantly shocked. First, the views here seriously give the seaside a run for its money. Second, the infrastructure: cable cars and hotels with incredible breakfasts (crepes with honey and morning champagne — that's next-level living) . The absolute highlight is the Bzerpinsky Cornice. It's an alpine plateau sitting at 2,063 meters in the Caucasus Nature Reserve . You hike through a fir forest, pop out at the Bear Gates (Medvezh'i Vorota), and boom — a 360-degree panorama of the Chugush, Achishkho, and Aibga peaks opens up before you . It's not just a walk; it's a real journey that completely flips your perception of Russian mountains. How to get there The easiest way from Adler or Sochi is taking the "Lastochka" high-speed train to the "Rosa Khutor" station or taking bus No. 105 . From there, hop on the "Gazprom" resort cable cars (the "Alpika - Pikhtovaya" or "Laura - Pikhtovaya" lines) to reach the trailheads . Prices (important!) · Ski-pass: from 8,100 ₽ for 5 days on the slopes . · Reserve entry fee: 500 ₽ per adult (available online on the Caucasus Nature Reserve website) . · Accommodation: during the low season (early June), you can score some great rooms in chain hotels at sweet prices . Lifehacks 1. Seasonality. During the off-season (June, late September), hotel prices drop, and the weather is still perfect for enjoying the mountains. Plus, there are practically no lines for the ski lifts . 2. Gear. If you don't want the hassle of bringing your own gear, renting directly at the resorts is pretty pricey. It's better to rent your equipment in Adler before heading up into the mountains — you'll save up to 30%. 3. Food. The restaurants in Rosa Khutor are pretty steep. To avoid overpaying, look for cafes in the village of Esto-Sadok — you'll find authentic spots that are much easier on the wallet . 4. Plan your time. Besides hitting the slopes, definitely set aside a day for a hike (the Bzerpinsky Cornice is top-tier) and an evening stroll through Esto-Sadok with those gorgeous mountain views. Krasnaya Polyana is a place you'll definitely want to come back to. It’s seriously awesome in any season, as long as you know where to go and what to look for. 🏔️

This is Russia too. 🌊 VLADIVOSTOK Expectation: ❄️ Endless snow and Soviet buildings. If you think you already know Türkiye because you have seen Istanbul, Cappadocia and the Mediterranean coast, there is another side of the country that feels completely different. Welcome to the Turkish Black Sea. 🌧️🌲 This is a region of dramatic green mountains, misty plateaus, dense forests, tea plantations, waterfalls, traditional villages and small coastal towns. The landscape changes constantly as you travel east, making it one of the most rewarding regions in Türkiye for a road trip. And honestly, this is not a journey I would recommend rushing. The best part of the Black Sea is often the road between the destinations. ⸻ 🗺️ My Suggested Black Sea Road Trip For a longer trip, I would plan the route approximately like this: Istanbul → Amasra → Sinop → Samsun → Ordu → Giresun → Trabzon → Uzungöl → Rize → Ayder → Artvin You can shorten the route depending on how much time you have, but if you have around 10–14 days, this itinerary gives you a wonderful mix of coast, mountains, culture and nature. ⸻ 🌊 1. Amasra — Where the Mountains Meet the Sea Start your Black Sea adventure in Amasra. This small coastal town is surrounded by rocky shores, green hills and beautiful sea views. Instead of treating it as a quick photo stop, spend some time walking through its historic streets, exploring the waterfront and enjoying a traditional Black Sea meal. The atmosphere here is much slower than in Türkiye’s major cities. It’s the kind of place where you can sit beside the sea with a cup of Turkish tea and simply watch the boats come and go. My tip: Stay overnight if you can. Amasra feels particularly peaceful after the day-trippers leave. ⸻ 🌲 2. Sinop — A Quiet Coastal Escape Continue east toward Sinop, one of the most peaceful stops along the route. Sinop combines a beautiful coastline with forests, historical sites and a relaxed harbor atmosphere. Hamsilos Bay and the surrounding natural areas are especially worth exploring. If you enjoy photography, this is a great place to slow down and capture the contrast between the dark green forests and deep blue Black Sea. And don’t leave without trying some fresh local seafood. ⸻ 🌿 3. Ordu — Green Hills Above the Sea As you continue toward the eastern Black Sea, the scenery becomes increasingly green. In Ordu, head up to Boztepe for a panoramic view of the city and coastline. This is one of those places where you really understand the geography of the Black Sea: mountains rising directly behind the city while the sea stretches endlessly in front of you. Spend some time exploring the city, but also leave room for the surrounding countryside. ⸻ 🍃 4. Giresun — Slow Down & Enjoy the Landscape Giresun is another great place to experience the quieter side of the region. The surrounding landscape is dominated by green hills, forests and traditional agricultural areas. The region is also famous for hazelnuts, while the broader Black Sea cuisine is known for fish, vegetables, tea, corn-based dishes and local dairy products. This is the kind of destination where I wouldn’t create a strict schedule. Find a local restaurant, order something regional and let the day unfold naturally. ⸻ 🏔️ 5. Trabzon — History Among the Mountains Then comes Trabzon, one of the most important stops in eastern Black Sea Türkiye. The city has a fascinating combination of history, culture and dramatic natural scenery. But the place I would prioritize is Sümela Monastery. Built dramatically into a steep mountainside, the monastery is surrounded by dense forest and feels almost hidden inside the landscape. The combination of architecture, history and mountains makes it one of the most memorable stops on this route. My tip: Don’t visit Trabzon only as a base for Uzungöl. Give the city itself some time too. ⸻ 💚 6. Uzungöl — The Iconic Black Sea Landscape From Trabzon, continue toward Uzungöl. A lake surrounded by steep green mountains, wooden buildings and misty landscapes — this is probably the image many travelers have in mind when they imagine the Turkish Black Sea. But there’s more to the area than taking a photo beside the lake. Walk around the surrounding area, explore the mountain roads and, if the weather is good, spend some time simply enjoying the scenery. And don’t worry if you wake up to clouds or mist. In the Black Sea, bad weather can actually make the scenery better. 🌫️ ⸻ 🍵 7. Rize — Welcome to Tea Country One of my favorite parts of the journey would be Rize. This is where the landscape becomes almost unbelievably green. Tea plantations cover the hillsides, and tea culture is an important part of everyday life in the region. Rize, along with Trabzon and Artvin, is one of Türkiye’s major tea-producing areas. Visit a tea garden, sit down for a glass of freshly brewed Turkish tea and look across the green hills. If you enjoy photography, this is a destination where you should definitely bring a wide-angle lens. My tip: Don’t just photograph the tea fields. Walk through them and look for the small roads, villages and mountain views around them. ⸻ 🏡 8. Ayder & Çamlıhemşin — Into the Mountains From Rize, head toward Çamlıhemşin and Ayder. This is where the trip becomes much more about nature and mountain life. Think: 🌲 Dense forests 🏔️ High plateaus 💦 Waterfalls 🌫️ Misty valleys 🏡 Traditional wooden houses 🌿 Mountain trails The area around Çamlıhemşin also offers opportunities for hiking, rafting and exploring highland villages. Fırtına Creek, for example, is known for rafting, while nearby highlands such as Pokut and Huser offer spectacular mountain scenery. If you have enough time, don’t just stay in Ayder. Go higher. The real magic of the eastern Black Sea often begins when you leave the main tourist roads behind. ⸻ 🏞️ 9. Artvin — The Wildest Part of the Journey Finish your road trip in Artvin. The landscape here becomes more dramatic again, with deep valleys, mountains, forests, lakes and canyons. Artvin is particularly appealing to travelers who enjoy outdoor adventures. Hiking, trekking, camping, rafting and exploring mountain landscapes are all part of the region’s appeal. If you want to get away from crowded tourist destinations, this is the part of the journey I would prioritize. Take your time. Stop at viewpoints. Explore small villages. And don’t be afraid to take the longer road. ⸻ 🍴 Don’t Leave Without Trying Black Sea Food A Black Sea road trip isn’t complete without trying the regional cuisine. Look for: Kuymak / Mıhlama 🧀 Hamsi dishes 🐟 Cornbread 🌽 Black Sea-style cabbage dishes 🥬 Fresh seafood Local cheeses Turkish tea 🍵 Hazelnuts The region’s cuisine is strongly connected to its landscape, with fish, tea, hazelnuts, corn, cabbage, cheese and butter appearing frequently in local food traditions. And one important rule: Don’t eat only at places designed for tourists. Try small family-run restaurants whenever possible. ⸻ 📸 What Should You Photograph? The Black Sea is perfect if you love landscape photography. My personal shot list would be: 🌿 Tea plantations in Rize 🌫️ Mist covering a mountain village 🏔️ Kaçkar mountain landscapes 💦 Waterfalls around Çamlıhemşin 🌊 Black Sea coastal towns 🏡 Traditional wooden houses 🌲 Forest roads 🕌 Village mosques surrounded by mountains 🌅 Sunset over the coast 🍵 A traditional tea glass overlooking the mountains And don’t worry about getting perfect blue skies. Clouds, rain and fog are part of the Black Sea’s personality. ⸻ 🚗 My Biggest Road-Trip Advice Don’t plan every hour. The Black Sea is one of those places where the journey itself becomes part of the destination. You might see a small village from the road and decide to stop. You might find a viewpoint that isn’t on your itinerary. You might see a waterfall and turn around. Do it. That’s exactly what a Black Sea road trip should feel like. ⸻ 🌦️ When Should You Go? The Black Sea is famous for its lush greenery partly because of its rainy climate, so don’t plan the trip expecting perfect sunshine every day. The rain is one of the reasons the region looks so dramatically green. For hiking and exploring the highlands, warmer months are generally more comfortable. But if you want the classic misty, atmospheric Black Sea feeling, a little rain isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I’d say: Bring a rain jacket, waterproof shoes and a camera — and embrace the weather. ☔📸 ⸻ ❤️ Why I Would Choose the Black Sea Türkiye has beaches. Türkiye has ancient ruins. Türkiye has huge cities. Türkiye has Cappadocia. But the Black Sea shows you something completely different. It shows you green Türkiye. The Türkiye of mountain villages, tea gardens, wooden houses, family kitchens, winding roads, waterfalls and misty plateaus. And that’s why I think this journey deserves a place on any Türkiye itinerary. Don’t just visit Türkiye. Drive through it. Take the long road. Stop somewhere unexpected. Drink tea with a mountain view. And let the Black Sea surprise you. 🇹🇷🌿 📌 Save this route for your next Türkiye road trip! #Turkey #Türkiye #BlackSea #BlackSeaTurkey #TurkeyTravel #TravelTurkey #ExploreTurkey #VisitTurkey #BlackSeaRoadTrip #Rize #Trabzon #Artvin #Cappadocia #TravelInspiration #Tripcom

A few days ago, I saw a post asking, "With the war in the Middle East, what other overseas countries can I visit?" Someone commented that Russia itself is still at war and is very unsafe. Based on my personal experience: I flew to Russia in the summer of 2024, when the Russia-Ukraine war was still in full swing. It wasn't hot in the summer, making it perfect for escaping the heat, and people were living very comfortably. This winter in 2026, there was absolutely no sign of war in Russia's major cities (except for the satellite positioning in Moscow). Major tourist destinations like Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Murmansk were peaceful and had nothing to do with the war. The streets were bustling with people, the snowy scenery was accompanied by Christmas lights, and the flea markets were lively—there was absolutely no sense of tension. Subways, malls, and tourist attractions were still crowded, and walking along Nevsky Prospect and Red Square at 10:00 PM was super lively. The Slavic people are friendly toward Chinese people. They were very kind when I asked for directions or help taking photos, and some even offered to help carry my things! But! Don't go to the Russia-Ukraine border or sensitive areas like Belgorod; tourist cities are completely fine. It's actually safer in the winter: everyone is celebrating the holidays, playing in the snow, and ringing in the New Year; no one is concerned about anything else~ On this trip, I also met some Chinese students from Minsk, Belarus, and St. Petersburg, and we made plans to visit Lake Baikal and Kamchatka next time. The students went to Sochi a while ago, and it was very safe too~

Beihai is one of China's warmest seaside resorts. You can vacation here pretty much year-round, but your experience will heavily depend on the season. If you're looking for comfortable weather without the grueling heat, picking the right time to go is key. 🌸 March – May — the best season for first-timers. Air temperatures hover between 22…30°C (72–86°F), there isn't much rain yet, and nature gets exceptionally lush and green. By May, the ocean has warmed up enough for a swim. It's the perfect time for: · strolling around the city; · relaxing on Silver Beach; · taking a trip to Weizhou Island; · sightseeing and photo shoots. ⭐ April and May are widely considered some of the most comfortable months. ☀️ June – August — a hot summer. Temperatures often climb to 30…34°C (86–93°F), and the ocean gets very warm, making this season great for a beach getaway. However, keep in mind: · high humidity; · the rainy season; · the chance of typhoons in late summer. If you can handle the heat and your main goal is the beach, this is a good window. 🍂 September – November — the perfect blend of great weather and relaxation. The heat gradually dials down, temperatures stay around 24…31°C (75–88°F), the ocean remains warm, and the rain tapers off. Autumn is an especially wonderful time to: · walk along the promenades; · lounge on the beaches; · explore Weizhou Island; · catch beautiful sunsets. ⭐ Many consider October and November to be the absolute best months to visit Beihai. ❄️ December – February — the quiet season. Daytime highs are usually around 15…24°C (59–75°F). There's no sweltering heat, and the tourist crowds thin out significantly. It's a great time for: · wandering through the old town; · checking out the mangrove parks; · going on guided tours; · unwinding by the sea. Swimming isn't always an option in winter since the water gets noticeably cooler than in the summer. 📍When is the best time to go? 🌸 April – May — the ultimate combo of mild temperatures, warm water, and fewer tourists. 🍂 October – November — the perfect window for hitting the beach, sightseeing, and taking long walks. ☀️ June – August — your best bet if you're all about the ocean and swimming. 🌿 December – February — a fantastic choice for a peaceful, crowd-free getaway away from the summer heat. 💬 When do you prefer a beach vacation — during the peak hot season or when the crowds have cleared out?

Book Kazbek and Mestia lodging at least one month in advance. ③ Always use ride apps or negotiate fares in advance. Some Batumi taxis don’t use meters. ④ Food tends to be salty and oily. Ask for less salt. Wine is cheap but strong. ⑤ Mountain weather changes four seasons in one day. Bring a shell jacket and warm layers. Strong UV, so sunscreen is a must. ⑥ Women must wear headscarves and skirts below the knee to enter Orthodox churches. Scarves are usually available at the entrance. ⑦ Safety is good, but avoid wandering alone in remote streets late at night. ⑧ Confirm prices before shopping. Only buy from clearly priced stalls to avoid scams. Almost gave up on this treasure of a country. Georgia in July and August is unbelievably amazing 🍃 Tag someone you want to watch the snowy mountains and sea with!

The land on which it is located once belonged to the Volkonsky princely family, hence the name "Volkonsky." This dolmen is believed to be the only full-size, monolithic dolmen in the world (that is, carved from a single, enormous boulder) that has survived to this day. Others have different structures, often with separate floors and walls, and a roof slab. The purpose of these megaliths remains a mystery, and many theories exist. They were most likely not intended for burial, as most dolmens did not, and could not, contain remains; their openings are too small, or even missing, and their shape is too unique. Other dolmens have only two walls and a roof, a sort of stone table. Many have a stone plug, often found lying nearby. The Volkonsky Dolmen is enormous; you can climb inside, but it's best to treat the monument with care. Nearby is a mountain river and magnificent tropical scenery. A truly picturesque place! Also located next to the dolmen is a slab in which a strange, irregularly shaped depression has been carved out using multiple drilling (I've attached a photo). Who, when, and why did this is unknown. There are hundreds of dolmens in the Krasnodar Region, others are simpler, many are accessible; I've seen more than a dozen. Incidentally, one is located in the courtyard of the Sochi Museum of Local History. True, the ancients ground the giant stones perfectly, but our contemporaries, after dismantling this dolmen, were unable to properly reassemble it in its new location in front of the museum... Which is ironic, of course, because it seems to suggest that our technology is inferior to that of the ancients. 👀 This object, relocated to the city, is in my last photo. No one knows when the dolmens were built, as they were made of stone, and dating is done using carbon dating, based on organic remains. Archaeologists estimate the age of these structures at 2,000-10,000 years... such precision)) #russia #travelrussia #russiatravel #archaeology #archeology #sochi #Sochi #katimpostrane #history #history #Ancienthistory

🌅 On the eastern coast of the Black Sea in Batumi, there is a dreamy square where time seems to stand still~ Europe Square is definitely the most Southern European-style place in the entire Caucasus region!🏰 💔【Medea Statue|The Gaze of a Tragic Myth】 At the center of the square stands the statue of Medea, the most tragic heroine in Greek mythology. This story of love-driven madness truly breaks your heart to the point of suffocation😭 📍Highlight: Look at the sword tightly held in her hand and feel the madness of doing anything for love! 🌊【Poseidon Statue|Guardian of the Black Sea】 Turn the corner and you’ll meet the golden Poseidon! The sea god holding his trident looks so cool~✨ 📍Legend says he is the protector of this seaside city, blessing every sailor with a safe return from their voyages~⛵ 🎡【Batumi Tower|The Unfinished Dream Suspended in the Air】 The most regrettable sight is the high-altitude Ferris wheel hanging on the tower! The world’s only aerial rotating observation cabin, 100 meters above the ground, but it remains forever stuck in the construction phase...💫 ☕【Square Life|Slow-Paced Caucasus Time】 During the day you can: · Watch the astronomical clock chime⏰ · Gather around the musical fountain🎵 · Browse the weekend handicraft market At night we recommend: · Take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the square🐎 · Drink Georgian coffee under the arcade · Say hi to the pigeons on the square~ 🌌 When night falls and the lights illuminate the entire square, those ancient Greek mythological figures seem to come alive... Every detail here tells a story of intertwined romance and sorrow💙 Recommended visit time: 1-2 hours Beautiful both day and night!

On the eastern edge of the Black Sea, in Georgia, the city of Batumi unfolds as a coastal meeting point between old subtropical ports and bold contemporary architecture. The first impression is movement. Palm-lined boulevards curve along the waterfront, while the sea breeze carries salt and humidity into streets that shift quickly from historic quarters to futuristic silhouettes. Glass towers rise beside 19th-century facades, creating a skyline that feels deliberately layered rather than uniform — as if different eras were allowed to coexist without editing each other out. Along the Batumi Boulevard, the city opens toward the water. Ferris wheels turn slowly against the horizon, sculptures appear unexpectedly between gardens and promenades, and evening light reflects off the Black Sea in shifting tones of silver and deep blue. In the old town, a different rhythm takes over. Narrow streets, carved balconies, and pastel-colored buildings preserve the memory of Batumi as a trading port shaped by Ottoman, Russian, and European influences. Cafés spill into sidewalks, and everyday life blends naturally into architectural heritage. What defines Batumi is this dual identity: a city that looks simultaneously toward history and experimentation, anchored by the sea but never confined by it. 📍 Location: Batumi, Georgia 🌊 Known for: Black Sea coastline, modern skyline, subtropical climate, mixed architectural styles 🏙️ Highlights: Batumi Boulevard, Old Town, seaside towers and sculptures 💡 Travel tip: Walk the promenade at dusk — when the city lights begin to merge with the sea’s reflection. In Batumi, the coastline is not a border. It is a stage between past and future.
