On the third day of the voyage, we finally landed on the island for the first time. Under the guidance of the expedition team members, everyone went to the locker room to dress according to the landing group. After completing the disinfection in an orderly manner, we changed to the assault boat to land. Today the outdoor temperature is about 9 degrees, the weather is sunny and cloudless, and the sea situation is relatively stable. After docking, we walked about 3 kilometers along the red flag and arrived at the steep cliff about 380 meters southwest of the island. We observed the habitat of black-browed albatrosses and crested yellow-browed penguins up close. The number of them gathered in this area is very spectacular, and they are not afraid of humans at all. They just quietly groom and bask in the sun, occasionally looking up and looking around, and then continuing to squint; Xijiao Island is 6 kilometers long and 4 kilometers wide. It is an IBA controlled area. The island is home to short-winged boat ducks, South American penguins and red-legged giant falcons, as well as Conro's dwarf dolphins that surround the archipelago waters. The landing point in the afternoon is Saunders Island, located in the northwest of the Falkland Islands. It is the fourth largest island in the Falkland Islands. There are flocks of sheep on the island. It is also the residence of king penguins, yellow-browed penguins, white-browed penguins and long-browed penguins. From the speedboat, you can see from a distance a large group of penguins with their hips swaying and waiting in line for us to dock on the beach. From time to time, there are a few curious penguins following the team. November every year is the season for penguins to hatch eggs. If you are lucky, you will also see penguin babies who have not yet shed their fur playing on the beach.
