The cliff moss is the first 5 km: old-growth hemlock–fir with Polytrichum and Rhytidiadelphus on every nurse log, Drury Creek roaring beside you, then the canyon narrows and the falls hit in three tiers. I camped at the Della warden cabin site (free, first-come, 16 km in) and did the falls at 07:00 next morning—spray soaking the moss, zero people. Mistake: I tried to day-hike 32 km return and turned back at 11 km—2-day minimum. Another: I paddled the lake in a 15 km/h west wind and fought it 2 hrs; check wind, or take the taxi.
