During the trip, we explored St. Andrews, several castles, a distillery, Culloden Battlefield, attended a captivating bird of prey show and a sheepdog demonstration, and spent two days at the Orkney Islands marveling at stunning Neolithic ruins. Barney proved to be a highly knowledgeable and lively guide, making every stop meaningful and enjoyable. His impeccable timing ensured we arrived on schedule without unnecessary waiting, which was practically non-existent. For instance, at Ness of Brodgar on Orkney, we reached an archaeological dig just minutes before a fascinating presentation by two expert archaeologists. Barney's historical knowledge is remarkable, and his “stories behind the stories” added an entertaining dimension to the trip. His vehicle was cleaned and vacuumed every morning and offered a very comfortable ride. I doubt you could find a guide across the Scottish Highlands and Lowlands who could provide such an outstanding experience, no matter your chosen destinations. And as a bonus, he knew all the top-notch coffee shops!

We had a fantastic trip; there are a couple of things I would tweak, but nothing that affected our overall enjoyment. It was good value for money. We loved Dunrobin Castle, the Orkney trip, the Italian Chapel, and Lorraine, the guide. However, our best day (apart from Bettyhill) was at John-o-Groats, where nearly everyone on the coach had a great time at the last pub. 👍

Had an amazing trip on the NC 500 + Orkney with my husband. We were picked up in Hamilton by Craig, a friendly and helpful driver. After a few stops to gather everyone, we headed to Perth for our first stop. The trip was fantastic right from the start. The best preserved Neolithic settlement in Western Europe and part of the UNESCO Heart of Neilithic Orkney World Heritage. A 12 kilometers 13 minutes drive from Stromness. Skara Brae dates back to Neolithic times, over 5000 years ago. Skara Brae are a group of houses that are used for their daily activities, every house has a heart in the middle, stones bed on opposite walls, a tank on the floor is likely used for storing. Exposed by great storms in 1850, four buildings were excavated during 1860s by Willam Watt.
