You want mountain views, a river setting, and a peaceful spot among the snow gums? Thredbo Diggings campground is definitely the site for you. During summer, lots of families and fishermen enjoy this place by Thredbo River. The former like to ride the Thredbo Valley track, walk riverside Bullocks track, or cool off in the in the water. The latter aren’t too fond of all that splashing but try to hook brown and rainbow trout with a spot of fly fishing. For hardcore skiers, who are also very well-prepared, Thredbo Diggings campground is a short drive to the ski fields at Thredbo Alpine Village and the ski tube to Perisher. Thredbo Diggings campground is also a short drive to Ngarigo campground as well as local attractions including Wild Brumby Schnapps Distillery, Lake Crackenback Resort and Bullocks Hut.#australia

Thermal pools & caves to visit on a roadtrip between Melbourne and Sydney! 🏞️🏊♀️ 📍Yarrangobilly, Kosciuszko National Park, NSW ☀️ You can swim in this outdoor thermal pool fed by a natural spring with water staying at about 27ºC year round. 🦇 We did a 45 minute cave guided tour learning about the limestone caves. This was about $25 per adult. You can also do self guided tours. 💰 You need a national park fee to access these spots which you can buy for $4 from the Info Centre next to the caves. 🚗 8 hour drive from both Melbourne or Sydney This is a super unique spot so tag someone who would love to hear about this!#easytravelpost

I joined the 3-day snow tour to Perisher and had an amazing experience! The tour included 2 nights’ accommodation, 3 cooked breakfasts, 2 dinners, admission to Kosciuszko National Park for all 3 days, and daily transfers from the hotel to Perisher. The entire trip was superbly organized. Rhys, our driver, ensured safe drives on Friday and Sunday, while Greg, our guide, was exceptionally informative and helpful throughout — whether it was recommending ski spots, assisting with ski pass collection and equipment, or ensuring smooth check-ins and showing us around the breakfast area. Both Rhys and Greg were incredibly courteous and professional, leaving a great impression that has convinced me to book again next year. The accommodation at Ski Rider was comfortable with an en-suite bathroom and a small area in the room to hang ski gear. If you’re planning to rent ski or snowboard equipment, I highly recommend booking through Ski Rider as it saves time, especially given the 40+ minute queues at Perisher. The hotel also runs its own ski bus to and from Perisher, and the buffet-style meals provided were tasty and quite decent. Bringing your own snacks would be a good idea though, as prices are pretty steep. Overall, my time on this 3-day trip was fantastic! It's totally worth it, especially for those looking to ski over the weekend. Special thanks to Rhys and Greg for making the trip so enjoyable and, most importantly, ensuring we got home safely. I’ll definitely return next year! ⛷️🏔️

Alright fam, grab your goggles and get ready to shred! My Snowy Mountains adventure was legit iconic, with non-stop action at Thredbo and Perisher – Australia’s two hottest ski spots. 🏔️🎿 First stop: Thredbo Resort! This place is sooo good for all levels, from total newbies to pros. The slopes were fresh, views were 🤯, and there’s heaps of rental shops if you forgot your gear (guilty!). Don’t miss the Thredbo Valley Track for gorgeous scenery and some Insta-worthy snaps. Address: Thredbo Alpine Village, Thredbo NSW 2625. Stay cheeky and check out the outdoor cafes – nothing hits harder than hot choc after a run. Next up, Perisher Ski Resort is a total vibe. Four killer areas (Perisher, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes, Guthega) mean you've got endless trails to cruise. The terrain parks? Chef’s kiss for anyone wanting to catch air. Perisher is also perfect for night skiing, so don’t skip the magic when the lights come on! Address: Kosciuszko Rd, Perisher Valley NSW 2624. Pro tip: Plan your lift tickets and gear rentals ahead with trip.com for maximum convenience. Both resorts usually run from June to October (weather can be chaotic, so check before you go!). Thredbo is where snowy dreams come true! 🤍⛷️ If you’ve ever wanted to learn to ski, or just see real fluffy snow, then this alpine paradise in New South Wales will blow your mind. Top Spots to Visit: 1. Thredbo Village: NSW 2627, Australia. Open year-round, most days from late morning till midnight (Wed even longer!). The village buzzes with ski shops, cafes and killer mountain views. 2. Snowfields: Slip on some snow gear and hit the slopes—even beginners will love the gentle runs and magic carpet lifts. 3. Thredbo Alpine Chairlift: Grab a ticket and soar above the trees for epic vistas. Tip: Try to ride just before sunset! 4. Merritts Mountain House: Need a break? Warm up with a hot chocolate or local Aussie pub grub. Everything’s close together, so you’ll spend less time commuting and more time playing. It can turn icy fast, especially at night. Thredbo doesn’t require a visa if you’re Aussie, but bring your ID for gear rentals. #ThredboSnow #AustraliaAdventures #AlpineFun #tripcom

Latest data shows that China, accounting for 14% of visitors (585,000 trips), remains the largest source of international tourists to New South Wales (NSW). While maintaining this strong appeal, as many parts of the Northern Hemisphere enter a "scorching heat" mode, this beloved land is responding to the new trend of "off-season summer escape" with its unique "Southern Hemisphere winter" charm. More than just cooling down, what attracts travelers is the triple healing experience hidden in this off-season trip—snow mountain hiking to combat mental fatigue, awakening the senses with hot and cold springs, and the quiet mountain fireplace in the forest. New South Wales is the must-visit destination in this "off-season healing wave." Hiking to Cure Anxiety: NSW Brings Healing to the Roof of Oceania You’re surely familiar with terms like "mental fatigue" and "brain overload." When life is filled with trivial information, a new way to relieve stress is quietly gaining popularity: not lying flat, but "exchanging physical strength for mental power"—using extreme physical exertion to forcibly shut down the brain’s background processes. Standing at 2,228 meters above sea level on the roof of Oceania is almost the ultimate version of this stress relief method. Mount Kosciuszko, located in the Snowy Mountains region of southern New South Wales, is Australia’s highest peak and a winter sanctuary for outdoor enthusiasts in the Southern Hemisphere. Take the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift, the fastest cable car with the greatest elevation drop in Australia, soaring directly to 1,930 meters. Put on snowshoes, step into the boundless snowfield, and cross the snowy ridges against the cold wind from the Southern Ocean—heat and crowds are instantly left behind. Standing on the summit overlooking the pure white mountains is the most "off-season" and healing deep breath you can take this summer. The Hot and Cold Healing Everyone’s Chasing: NSW Brings It to Caves and Mountain Springs From Japanese-style alternating hot and cold baths to the Nordic ice bucket challenge, and the viral "ice bath sessions" on social media—hot and cold therapy has quietly transformed from a niche wellness trend into a popular stress relief method in recent years. The principle is simple: the intense stimulation of alternating hot and cold instantly awakens the body’s senses dulled by long hours in air-conditioned rooms and in front of screens, delivering immediate relief. Deep in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, this healing method takes on a wilder, more natural form, requiring no ice buckets or equipment—the valley itself is a natural "healing ground." Crossing the vast Monaro Plains, the Yarrangobilly Caves form an underground maze. Ancient stalactites quietly grow in the dim light, giving your body a cool "preheat." Emerging from the caves and descending a steep trail, the natural thermal pool hidden deep in the forest suddenly appears. The spring water stays at a constant 27°C year-round, and when it meets the cold winter air, white mist rises. Shedding heavy winter clothes and jumping into the hot spring, you are instantly enveloped by warm currents, surrounded by the cool mountain forest and crisp air. This contrast of hot and cold is the most direct experience of this healing journey. If you’re lucky, you might even spot the elusive platypus by the shore, adding a wild surprise to this valley "healing trip." The Best Place to "Unplug": A Snow Mountain Cabin and an Ever-Burning Fire "Digital detox" has become a buzzword among city dwellers in recent years—turning off phones, disconnecting signals, and fully reclaiming time for oneself is becoming a rarer experience than any luxury. As dusk falls, adventurous travelers reluctantly leave the hot springs, and the off-season journey shifts from daytime physical exploration to nighttime spiritual recharge. Drive back and stay in the high-end boutique artisan cabins hidden in the heart of the Snowy Mountains. These standalone wooden cabins scattered by lakes or in forests combine a sense of wilderness seclusion with modern comfort. Open the door to endless snowy peaks and tranquil lakes; close it to completely block out the city’s noise. Here, you only need to settle into the scenery. Unwind from the day’s fatigue, gather with family and friends around the crackling fireplace, warm a pot of tea, watch the flames dance, and let the wood’s warmth slowly embrace the lingering travel fatigue. This secluded mountain cabin feeling is something the bustling city cannot offer. True summer escape is not just about fleeing the heat but finding the tranquility evaporated by summer in the Southern Hemisphere’s winter. For Chinese travelers, NSW’s "off-season travel" is more than a climate change—it’s a renewal of travel style: from check-ins to depth, from noise to relaxation, from scorching summer to clear winter. This summer, why not fly across the equator and accept an invitation to NSW’s winter, reclaiming control of life amid snow mountains, quiet springs, and fireside warmth.

❄️Hit the Slopes in Perisher Valley: Australia’s Winter Wonderland⛷️ Perisher Ski Resort is your go-to snowy escape in Kosciuszko National Park—think endless powder, lively crowds, and heaps of runs for all skill levels! Start your day at the Perisher Ski Resort, conveniently located on Kosciuszko Rd, and get going right when the doors open at 8:30 AM to beat the rush. Grab gear from the rental shop if you don’t have your own, then hit Front Valley for classic beginner slopes or jump on the Interceptor Quad for advanced terrain. Don’t miss the Superpipe for jaw-dropping action, and if you're up for a challenge, the Ridge Quad Chair offers unbeatable views (hello, insta-worthy shots of the snow-covered range and bustling skiers!). Pause midday for coffee or hot chocolate at Jax Bar on the mountain—perfect for warming up and people-watching. The crowds can be intense, so plan for breaks during off-peak times if you want quieter corners. For first-timers, lessons are a must and bookable ahead to avoid long lines. Watch your step at peak hours: icy pathways get slippery, and with so many people, it’s easy to lose your group. If you’re visiting after heavy snowfall, goggles are essential—the glare can be blinding! My top tip: Embrace the vibe! The flurry of snow and people adds to that exhilarating, buzzing energy—just be patient when waiting for lifts. #PerisherValley #SkiAustralia #WinterEscape #SnowAdventure #TravelTips

At home: cicadas chirping, air conditioning, hot weather 😩 Australia: whale watching, chasing the Southern Lights, skiing on powder snow, Great Barrier Reef with the best visibility all year round ❄️✨ Seasons are reversed in the Southern Hemisphere, so our summer vacation = Australian winter (June to August). But this winter is anything but harsh— Northern Cairns enjoys 25°C+ dry season perfect for fun, southern Sydney and Melbourne are 10-16°C damp and chilly but great for whale watching and chasing the aurora, Red Centre (Uluru) is unbearable at 40°C in summer, winter is the only right time to go. · 🎯 Choose your route based on "What kind of winter do you want?" ▫️ Warm escape group · North Queensland route 👉 Cairns → Great Barrier Reef → Port Douglas → Palm Cove 👉 Temperatures 18-26°C, almost no rain in the dry season, sea visibility is best all year 👉 Suitable for: those who dislike cold, want to snorkel or dive, families with kids ▫️ Whale chasing group · Classic East Coast 👉 Sydney → Jervis Bay for whale watching → Gold Coast → Brisbane 👉 From June to November, humpback whales migrate north along the east coast; you can see tail slaps right after setting sail from Sydney/Gold Coast ▫️ Hardcore group · Red Centre route 👉 Uluru → Kata Tjuta → Kings Canyon 👉 Summer is 40°C+ with swarms of flies, winter days at 20°C perfect for hiking, nights at 0°C ideal for stargazing 👉 Suitable for: repeat visitors, photographers, those avoiding crowds ▫️ Romantic group · Tasmania + Aurora 👉 Hobart → Wineglass Bay → Freycinet → Strahan 👉 Aurora season from May to August, purple-pink light bands sweep the night sky, combined with Dark Mofo winter solstice art festival (unique to Tasmania) ▫️ Ski group · Victoria/New South Wales ski resorts 👉 Mt Buller / Perisher / Thredbo, snow season from June to October 👉 2-3 hours drive from Melbourne/Sydney, mountain cabins for stargazing 💡 A counterintuitive tip: In winter, you can swim with whale sharks at Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia (peak in June), fewer people and clearer water than the Great Barrier Reef · ——— 🧥 Dressing alert: Temperature difference up to 20°C in the same country! Australia’s winter is split like this—people in Cairns wear short sleeves, Melburnians bundle up in down jackets, so pack in layers: ✅ Sydney (8-17°C): thin sweater + windbreaker + jeans, add a down vest for whale watching trips, sea breeze is biting ✅ Melbourne (5-14°C): "four seasons in a day" + average 13-14 rainy days per month, thick down jacket + waterproof coat + scarf are essentials, rain is frequent ✅ Cairns (18-26°C): dry season paradise, short sleeves, shorts, flip-flops, but bring a long sleeve for mornings, evenings, and air-conditioned cars ✅ Uluru (20°C daytime / 0°C night): T-shirt is fine during the day, but it freezes quickly after sunset, thick jacket + fleece are must-haves ✅ Snow mountains: professional waterproof ski suit + gloves + warm hat, snow chains for driving · — ⚠️ Winter-specific pitfalls (not mentioned in summer guides) ❌ Penguins return early in winter—sunset is 2 hours earlier than summer, don’t follow summer schedules, check sunset times daily ❌ Great Ocean Road winter winds and waves are strong—driving is more dangerous than in summer, avoid night driving, kangaroos are more active at dusk in winter ❌ Snow chains—when renting cars in Tasmania/ski areas, clarify snow chain policies to avoid fines ❌ Vivid/Dark Mofo accommodation—hotel prices double during early June in Sydney and mid-June in Tasmania festivals ❌ Don’t slack on sunscreen—UV rays are still intense in winter, especially in Cairns and Uluru · — 🌏 The best part about going to Australia in summer is—while others are sweating in the heat, you’re experiencing a different season. Watching whales, chasing the aurora, sipping wine under Uluru’s starry sky—this contrast can’t be had in Australia’s summer in December. When are you planning to fly? Escape the cold on the East Coast or chase the aurora in Tasmania? Let’s chat in the comments 👇

Celebrating 460 days of travelling with Trip.com: Together, we've explored 7 cities worldwide; in 2025, I unlocked 7 new cities and was honoured with the title of Horizon Chaser#2025travelstory

Hello Everyone The Land of the Kangaroos, Australia, also has snow during winter. It's different from other "snowy" countries. There are only a few snowy spots in Australia, including Mt Buller, Mt Thredbo, Mt Falls Creek, and others. It takes several hours from the city center to reach these mountains. For me, this was a valuable experience because I experienced snow in Australia for the first time. Thanks for reading 🙂

Skiing

Thredbo Mount Kosciuszko, NSW, AUS. The snow was okay, some days are bad but overall experience is good. Had a great time day, the view is spectacular! The price is okay, good to spend 4/5days there. There are many trials, can challenge different trails. They provide lessons for different level skills for both skii and snowboard. Different restaurants over there, serve different cuisine as well. #travel #snow #skii

#holidayitinerary Blue Waterholes Campground is such a peaceful little spot hidden in Kosciuszko National Park. The drive in is part of the fun, gravel roads, open plains, and wild brumbies if you’re lucky. Once you get there, it’s all about the clear creek, limestone cliffs, and wide open space. The campground is basic but lovely, with grassy areas, drop toilets, and fire pits. No phone signal, which honestly makes it even better. The Clarke Gorge and Nichols Gorge walks are both awesome. You’re literally walking through the creek, climbing over rocks, squeezing past cliffs, and even ducking into a few small caves. The water is freezing, but it feels good once you commit. Good shoes are a must, and maybe a dry bag for your stuff. No shops, fuel, or water nearby, so stock up before you head in. It’s quiet, beautiful, and feels way off the grid in the best way. If you’re up for some barefoot creek adventures and big sky camping, this place totally delivers.

#holidayitinerary Yarrangobilly Caves is such a cool mix of caves, forest walks, and a hot spring thrown in for good measure. It’s tucked away in Kosciuszko National Park and feels like a proper little adventure. We checked out the Jersey Cave, super colourful formations and crazy details everywhere. You can do self-guided or join a tour depending on the cave and your vibe. After the caves, we hiked down to the thermal pool. The walk is steep but not too long, and the pool itself is warm, clean, and surrounded by bushland. It was the perfect way to chill out after all the exploring. Bring swimmers and a towel if you’re keen for a dip. There are picnic areas and toilets around, plus some shorter bush tracks if you want to stretch your legs more. The drive in is beautiful, winding through mountains and valleys. If you're in the Snowy Mountains area and want a mix of chill and adventure, Yarrangobilly is totally worth the detour.
