Climbing the castle tower offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire lake region. 🌟 Exclusive experience recommendation: Sit at a café in the old town, order a cappuccino, and watch the snow-capped mountains shimmer in the distance—100% therapeutic. 🚞 Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe Riding the world's highest-altitude cogwheel train to the summit of Jungfraujoch was the most spectacular part of this journey. Departing from Interlaken, the train winds through snow-capped mountain tunnels and glacial platforms, finally reaching the "Top of Europe" at 3,454 meters above sea level. You can visit the Sphinx Observatory, standing on the edge of the Alpine ridge to overlook the glaciers, or step into the Ice Palace and walk through ice tunnels adorned with crystal sculptures—like entering the real world of "Frozen." 🌟 Note: The thin air at the summit may be challenging, so take it slow—every step is worth savoring. 🌲 Lauterbrunnen Valley, Interlaken District Dubbed the "most beautiful valley in Switzerland," it lives up to its reputation. Before going to Switzerland, I didn’t have high expectations, always thinking the scenic photos were filtered. But after going, I realized what my eyes saw was even clearer than what the camera captured. Weather and Feel I went in early May, and the temperature difference in the mountains was ridiculously large. In the morning in Interlaken, I wore a light down jacket; by noon at First mountain, it was warm enough for short sleeves; in the evening when getting off the cable car, the wind blew and I quickly put my jacket back on. There was no rain the whole time, and the sunlight made the lake look like melted emeralds. The UV rays were strong though, and my arms got a bit sunburned. Details Not Covered by Influencer Filters First mountain in Grindelwald deserves a special mention. Looking out the cable car window, the grass looked like it was covered with thick wool, and the sound of cowbells on their necks drifted in with the wind, intermittent and soft. The Cliff Walk isn’t long; standing on the glass platform looking down, the canyon seemed bottomless, making my legs a bit weak, but the breeze was especially refreshing. Riding a scooter down the mountain was a pleasant surprise—the scooter was very stable. As I slid down the mountain road, wildflowers on both sides seemed to run behind me. The speed was slow enough to enjoy the wooden houses on the grassy slopes, much more interesting than taking the cable car. The boat ride on Lake Brienz was very quiet, mostly locals. Sitting on the deck watching the water, near the shore it was a transparent light green, turning into deep emerald towards the center. Occasionally, small fish jumped out of the water, and the splashes sparkled briefly in the sunlight before disappearing. The Iseltwald pier was very small, with just a few boats docked. On a bench by the lake, an elderly couple was feeding swans. When they threw bread crumbs, the sound of the swans paddling was especially clear. The waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen are hidden in the canyon. Looking up near the train station, the water looked like it was falling from the clouds, and the sound of it hitting the rocks was muffled. The little train to Wengen was very slow, with low windows you could reach out and touch the grass by the roadside. There was a stretch along the cliff, and looking down was a deep valley. I held the handrail tightly, scared but unable to stop looking. Trip Pace: Like a Special Forces Soldier but Not Exhausted We bought the Swiss Pass, which was indeed convenient for transportation, but you have to be on schedule. The SBB app was very accurate for checking trains, though sometimes you had to run to find the platform. · We spent most of the day in Grindelwald, taking cable cars, walking the cliff path, and riding scooters, all at a leisurely pace, not tiring. · The boat ride on Lake Brienz plus strolling the town involved little walking, perfect for resting. · The stretch from Thun to Spiez had small castles. The stairs in Thun Castle were so narrow only one person could pass at a time. The garden at Spiez Castle overlooked the lake, where we sat for half an hour soaking up the sun. · The last day going to Mount Rigi was really intense. The cogwheel train clanked as it climbed, and the wind at the top was so strong I could barely stand. We quickly took photos and rushed down. But when taking the cable car down, passing through the clouds and seeing the lake for a moment made the rush worthwhile. The mountain cabin we stayed in was a pleasant surprise, with the smell of wood mixed with pine needles. At night it was so quiet you could only hear your own breathing. It was a bit far from the train station, requiring a 20-minute ride on a small train, but the schedule was punctual, with trains running until 9 or 10 pm. I keep thinking about the wind when riding the scooter on First mountain and the elderly couple feeding swans by the lake. Switzerland’s scenery isn’t the kind that shocks you with “Wow, so spectacular,” but slowly seeps into your heart, like drinking a cup of lukewarm tea that lingers for a long time. If you have enough time, there’s really no need to rush to so many places. Just find a spot by a lake and sit for an afternoon—it might be even more comfortable.
