Treviso travel guide and discussion

Lake Garda (Lago di Garda), known as Italy's "Blue Enchantress," is the largest lake in Italy, spanning the regions of Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige. It lies like an uncut gem quietly nestled at the southern foot of the Alps. A Picturesque Vacation Destination Lake Garda boasts over 400 kilometers of coastline and is considered one of Italy's most beautiful lakes. Here, the clear, blue waters harmonize with the distant mountains. The lakeside resorts, villas, and restaurants resemble exquisite paintings. Rich History and Culture The Lake Garda area has a long history and cultural tradition. The Adige River flows along the lakeshore, and the river mouth city of Verona is a romantic site immortalized by Shakespeare and was once a Roman colony. Additionally, the Valcamonica region features massive rock carvings that document prehistoric human life, dating back to 6000 BC. Tourist Highlights · Isola di Garda: A small island located in the center of the lake, accessible by ferry. The island features an ancient castle, hot springs, and beaches. · Castello di Garda: A castle in the town of Arco di Trento, built in the 12th century, it is one of the iconic landmarks of the Lake Garda area. The castle overlooks the entire lake district, offering beautiful lake views. · Veneto Region Resorts: Numerous resorts and villas surround Lake Garda, offering various water activities such as sailing, kayaking, and diving. · Culinary Delights: The local Garda trout is a signature dish, fresh and delicious. There are also various seafood, cheeses, and wines unique to the area. How to Get to Lake Garda · By Plane: Fly to the nearest airports to Lake Garda: Verona Airport (VRN) or Linate Airport (RTS) from Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) or Venice Airport (VCE). · By Train: Take a train from Milan to Treviso or Trieste; from Venice, take a train to Mestre and then transfer by bus or taxi to the Lake Garda area. · By Car: Drive about 2 hours from Milan via the A4 highway; about 1.5 hours from Venice via the A4 or A22 highways; about 1 hour from Verona via the SS12 road.

Treviso Life Hacks 🇮🇹✨ What to do in Treviso if you only have one day (and want to fall head over heels) 🍷 Start with wine… from a fountain Yep, it’s not a myth. During festivals back in the day, the Fontana delle Tette actually poured wine. For free. For everyone. Today, it’s just an atmospheric starting point, but it sets the perfect tone: Treviso knows how to surprise you. 👕 Catch the city’s stylish vibe You’re strolling through the birthplace of Benetton. The city may be small, but it’s incredibly tasteful—everything here exudes effortless style without being flashy. 💧 Get lost among the waterways and old mill wheels Wander along the canals, listen to the babbling water, and look out for the ancient water wheels—they’re still turning today. Make sure to check out Isola della Pescheria—a tiny island with a seriously unique vibe. 🍰 Eat *the* original tiramisu Not just "somewhere in Italy," but right exactly here. Le Beccherie is where chef Roberto Linguanotto first served this iconic dessert to the world. After trying this tiramisu, every other one will just feel… basic. 🧜‍♀️ Find the hidden mermaid Right by the island, a little secret awaits: a hidden mermaid sculpture. No tourist signs, no crowds—just a rewarding little "I found it" moment. ⛪ See a masterpiece without the queues Step inside the Duomo di Treviso—it houses the "Annunciation" painted by Titian. And the best part? No crushing crowds. Just you and the art. 🕊️ Slow down and find your zen Chiesa di San Francesco is all about peace and beautiful light. It’s the final resting place of Dante Alighieri’s son and Francesco Petrarca’s daughter—a spot rich in history, but completely unpretentious. ⸻ 💡 Pro tips for doing Treviso right: ✨ Get here in the morning—the city is practically empty and insanely photogenic ✨ It’s a stellar alternative to Venice—all the charming canals, minus the tourist hordes ✨ Grab some prosecco and just chill by the water—it’s the ultimate game plan here ✨ Give yourself at least half a day, but a full, unhurried day is even better ⸻ Treviso isn't about checking boxes off a list. It’s a whole mood that’ll keep calling you back 💛

If you think Venice has it all, spoiler alert: it doesn't. In fact, it's only the first chapter of a journey through the Veneto region, and stopping there would be a crime against impressions. Venice easily steals the show: the canals, palaces, gondolas, and crowds of tourists create the feeling that things can't get any better. But take a step aside—literally, take a train—and you find yourself in a completely different Italy: calmer, more authentic, and unexpectedly diverse. And here's the main life hack: you can stay not only in the historic center of Venice but also on the mainland—in Mestre or Marghera. Why it's convenient: · accommodation is significantly cheaper · more supermarkets and decent urban infrastructure · easier to get around with luggage (in Venice, bridges and staircases quickly turn a suitcase into a quest) · Venice's city center is 10-15 minutes by train or bus And then comes the fun part: from this point, you can easily explore the entire region. ⸻ Cities near Venice worth adding to your itinerary Padua One of the oldest university towns in Europe, lively, atmospheric, and underrated. Here you'll find Giotto's frescoes, vast squares, and a real student energy. Vicenza An ideal city for architecture lovers. Almost everything here is connected to Andrea Palladio, the man who influenced the face of all of Europe. Treviso A small, "quiet Venice" without the crowds. Canals, cozy streets, and the feeling of finding a secret place. Bassano del Grappa A city with character: a wooden bridge, mountains on the horizon, and the birthplace of grappa. Very cinematic. Verona Yes, the same Verona of Romeo and Juliet—but beyond the romance, there's an ancient amphitheater, a powerful history, and an incredible atmosphere. Abano Terme If you're looking for a recharge, the thermal springs and spa offer a wonderful contrast to the busy sightseeing. ⸻ How to get there All these cities are ideally connected to Venice by regional trains. · Travel time: 20 minutes to 1.5 hours · Cost: usually €5–15 · Trains run frequently and without complicated logistics Tickets are conveniently purchased through Trip.com—they have a clear interface and let you plan your routes in advance. ⸻ Why you should expand your trip If you limit yourself to just Venice, you'll see a postcard. Add the cities of Veneto and you get a complete journey. Everything changes here: · architecture – from Byzantine to Renaissance · pace of life – from the tourist flow to the tranquil Italianate · gastronomy – each city has its own specialties · atmosphere – from the grandiose to the intimate And most importantly, a sense of depth emerges. Not "I've been to Venice," but "I understand this region." #Italy #Veneto #Venice #Verona #Padua #Vicenza #Treviso

#nightlife Exploring Treviso’s nightlife was a delightful surprise! The city, often overshadowed by nearby Venice, comes alive after dark with its charming piazzas and vibrant atmosphere. 🌃 I started my evening at Piazza dei Signori, where lively bars serve up delicious Aperol spritzes and local wines. A refreshing drink in hand, I enjoyed people-watching as locals mingled and laughed. There’s no cover charge for most places, which is a bonus! After a few drinks, I headed to a small trattoria for some traditional cicchetti—small plates of local delicacies that paired perfectly with my wine. 🍷 If you’re up for some fun, I highly recommend checking out the live music scene at Café dei Banchieri; it’s a fantastic spot to enjoy local bands while soaking up the lively ambiance. For a more laid-back vibe, the riverside walk along the Sile River is beautiful at night, with picturesque views of the illuminated bridges. Treviso’s nightlife might be less frantic than Venice, but it’s definitely full of charm and authenticity! #TrevisoNights #ItalianNightlife #Cicchetti #AperolSpritz #ExploreTreviso #CharmingPiazzas

#Overseas Travel Take a stroll in Treviso, known as the Little Water City! It doesn’t have the bustle and bustle of Venice, but it has a quiet and leisurely atmosphere. There are winding canals in the center of the town. When you come to Treviso, you must visit the Fontana delle Tette (Fountain of the Breasts). In the 16th century, in order to celebrate the inauguration of the new mayor, the breasts of this fountain would spray wine for three consecutive days. One breast would spray red wine and the other would spray white wine. All citizens can come and drink free wine and celebrate together. This tradition was discontinued until 1797, after the decline of the Republic of Venice. This fountain is the most representative artifact of Treviso. The original work was created in 1559. The real body is already very dilapidated and is now stored in a glass box in Piazza dei Signori, the most important square in Treviso, for public viewing. When you come to Treviso, you will find that many houses have these circular arcades, which is also the architectural feature here. Hiding under the arcade and looking at the church buildings is like adding a picture frame to them. #Overseas Travel #Italy Travel #Europe Travel

Treviso is a city that I visited exactly 3 times. It was one of my funniest stories because I flew to Italy just to drink a coffee in #treviso and in 5h I took the flight back. I did this exactly 3 times because I managed to found super cheap tickets and the airline timetable allowed to go for half a day and then go back. I found also amazing cafés in the town that made me come again. The town itself is very small but due to its proximity to Venice is very developed and beautiful. #happynewyear

From the poet's residence to the cloisters of monasteries, and the breathtaking scenery of the Dolomites. 🏡 Asolo · The Poet's Residence My journey began with a landing in Venice, without rushing. In just an hour, I arrived in Asolo. This quaint town nestled in the hills of Veneto is quiet and slow-paced, like an unfinished poem. Villa Cipriani was the residence of poet Robert Browning in his later years. It’s not a chain hotel but a property owned by the Cipriani family. The garden, terrace, antique furniture, and mountain views are all perfectly balanced—not ostentatious, but exuding refined taste. On the first day, I didn’t plan any sightseeing. I simply made a detour to Treviso, where the Sile River branches through the town. There, I saw ancient water mills and frescoes painted on the exterior walls of buildings dating back to the Middle Ages and the 16th century. Then, I headed into the mountains, rested, and adjusted to the time zone. I sipped tea in the garden, admired the mountain views from the terrace, and went to bed early. 🏨 Accommodation: Villa Cipriani (Asolo) 🏔️ Ortisei · Mountains and Meadows Heading north from Asolo, I entered the Dolomites. Ortisei is the hub of the western Dolomites and the best base for the next two days. However, I chose not to stay in the town itself but instead headed to Selva. Upon arrival, I visited the Alpe di Siusi plateau via cable car. Europe’s largest alpine meadow unfolded beneath me—rolling grass slopes, wooden huts, grazing cattle, and sunlight streaming through the clouds. Every snapshot was picture-perfect. I still had energy left to stroll around Ortisei town. Wooden houses, churches, cafes—the air was filled with the scent of pine resin and grass. 🏨 Accommodation: Selva (2 nights) 🌄 Val di Funes · Waiting for the Light From Selva, it was a fifty-minute drive to Val di Funes. The small town of Santa Maddalena is home to the tiny Church of St. Giovanni, perched on a hillside. Behind it, the jagged peaks of the Geisler Group rise like a row of teeth—gray and white. I set out in the afternoon and waited for sunset on the grassy slope in front of the church. The light first touched the spire, then slowly climbed the mountain, turning the gray-white rocks into warm gold, and finally into pink. This was the most photogenic half-hour of the entire trip. No hiking, no climbing—the grassy slope was the perfect viewing platform. With plenty of time left that day, I also visited the Church of St. John, which is even smaller, lonelier, and looks like a postcard. 💧 Lake Braies · Gem Green Heading further northeast, I reached Lake Braies in about an hour and a half. The lake’s water is a gem-like green, crystal clear. I rowed a boat, walked around the lake, and strolled leisurely along the wooden boardwalk by the shore. Hotel Lago di Braies, an old building from 1899, sits right by the lake and offers the best vantage point for capturing stunning lake views. I stayed for two to three hours before continuing southward. Fifty minutes later, I arrived at Castel Badia. This day was a transition day, but Lake Braies broke up the long journey into manageable segments, making it far from exhausting. 🏨 Accommodation: Castel Badia (2 nights) 🏰 Castel Badia · Monastery Cloisters Castel Badia was originally a Benedictine monastery dating back to the 11th century. It was later converted into a hotel and is now part of the Leading Hotels of the World. The property features cloisters, frescoes, stone walls, and a chapel. It feels like a blend of the Monastery of Meteora and the Château de Chillon on dry land. It’s not about “modern design” but rather an “old soul.” Its timeless elegance and attention to detail seem to whisper, “You deserve to be treated well.” I didn’t plan any outings for this day. I simply strolled through the cloisters, relaxed in the garden, and indulged in the spa. The hotel itself was the destination. 🛍️ Milan · The Final Night From Castel Badia, I drove west for about three hours to Milan, stopping at Verona and Lake Garda along the way for lunch and a walk, breaking up the long drive. Portrait Milano is tucked away in a courtyard within the fashion district. It was converted from a 16th-century seminary. With walnut wood, rattan, and light, every detail is meticulously crafted yet warm—like visiting the home of a friend with impeccable taste in Milan. On the final night, I had a good sleep. The next day, I departed from Malpensa Airport. 🏨 Accommodation: Portrait Milano Seven days, no mountain climbing, no rushing, no daily hotel changes. The poet’s residence, the meadows and lakes of the Dolomites, the monastery cloisters, and the courtyard in Milan. I saw mountains, I saw lakes, I took photos, and I was cared for. Mountains and lakes, just as desired. It’s not greed; it’s about making every moment worthwhile.

Overall, a stunning hotel in an amazing location. However, the room was somewhat small, and the design wasn’t outstanding. That said, breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The room was quite compact but had everything we needed. It was impeccably clean. However, there was an odd partition at one end, creating a separate wardrobe/desk space that felt dark and dingy. Unfortunately, this took away around a meter of depth from the room. There were coffee-making facilities and a lovely selection of complimentary chocolates. The turn-down service was delightful. The bathroom looked nice, but the shower design was problematic. The tiled section in the center was surrounded by removable drains that shifted when stepped on, making the shower potentially unsafe. We didn’t file a complaint since this seemed like a permanent design issue, and we were able to manage as a fit couple. However, it could be dangerous for older guests, so maybe avoid Room 501. Breakfast was very enjoyable, offering plenty of variety. The overall staff were friendly and welcoming, with special mention to the kind and professional Philippine lady who served breakfast. Grazie to her! The hotel’s location is perfect—away from the crowded city center, yet close enough to easily visit tourist spots. It costs €2 to cross the Grand Canal by gondola, or you can take a free bridge just a 5-minute walk away. **Transfers from Airport** There are several ways to reach the hotel from the airport. A private taxi boat takes about 30-40 minutes and costs €160 for up to six passengers each way. The public water taxi costs €18 per person one way and takes 75-90 minutes, followed by around a 7-8 minute walk to the hotel. If you have just hand luggage and are fine walking 20-25 minutes to Piazzale Roma, there are cheaper options: a public bus for €10 per person, with multiple stops and a 30-minute ride, or an ATVO coach for €12 per person, which runs directly to the airport terminal. Both Marco Polo and Treviso airports have dedicated buses. We took the public water taxi (€36 for two) and found the 90-minute trip to the hotel sweaty in the August heat and rather lengthy. On the way back, we opted for the coach (€24 for two) followed by a stroll through the city streets. This route took about 40-45 minutes total but wouldn’t be ideal if carrying large luggage. If traveling as a group of 4+ or as a family with lots of bags, the private boat transfer, which drops you right at the hotel jetty, is likely the best option. As Hilton Diamond members, we enjoyed free breakfast, but no other Hilton loyalty benefits were acknowledged. We didn’t receive a room upgrade, or if we did, it wasn’t mentioned explicitly.

Stayed in May with friends—our second trip to the Maldives. The boat ride from Malé took about 50 minutes. At the hotel, we were greeted by staff with drums and applause, which was pretty fun. Due to apparent overbooking, they put us in a water villa on the first night instead of a beach villa. While they thought we'd enjoy the upgrade, we strongly preferred the beach villa vibe. The water villa was nice, but not our style. Thankfully, by morning, we were moved to a beach villa. The beach near the regular beach villas in May was excellent—calm waters, no wind or waves. The villa itself felt fresh, and the bathroom was convenient. The food at the hotel was fantastic, with tuna, beef cooked to choice, papaya, pineapple, and Eggs Benedict for breakfast. The Prosecco, from the Treviso region, was delightful and poured generously. The gym had all the necessary equipment. We genuinely enjoyed the hotel and would happily return!

Just travelled to Treviso italy for the first time, a secret hidden place one hour away from Venice! From the beautiful mountains of the dolomites to the rivers!

If you have 2 days and 1 night before heading into Venice, I highly recommend staying in Treviso, an incredibly cute little town full of canals, cafes, and authentic Italian vibes. 🥹🤍 ⸻ ☕ Day 1 : Slow Life in Treviso ✈️ Arrive in Treviso Start at 📍 Piazza dei Signori The city's main square surrounded by historic buildings, cafes, and local restaurants. A must-visit highlight: 📍 Canale dei Buranelli 🌿💙 The most beautiful canal in the city. This spot offers a romantic Italian feel without the heavy crowds. 📸 You can take gorgeous photos from almost any angle. ⸻ 🍰 Afternoon Treat Stop by to taste the original tiramisu recipe. 📍 Le Beccherie The restaurant widely recognized as the birthplace of Tiramisu. Dessert lovers absolutely cannot miss this! 🤎✨ ⸻ 🌅 Evening Walk along the old city walls. 📍 Mura di Treviso Watch the sunset and observe the local way of life. The atmosphere is much more peaceful compared to many other Italian cities. Stay overnight in the old town. ⸻ 🚤 Day 2 : Chill Vibes Before Venice Start your morning by walking through the local market. 📍 Pescheria Island A tiny island in the middle of a canal that serves as the city's historic fish market. Experience the authentic lifestyle of the locals. 🐟✨ Next, stop by 📍 Cathedral of Treviso The ancient cathedral featuring beautiful Renaissance artworks. ⸻ ☕ Before Departure Pick a cozy canal-side cafe. Sip some coffee, enjoy a croissant, and soak in the city's tranquility one last time. 🥹🤍 ⸻ 🚆 Late Morning or Afternoon Take a train from Treviso to 📍 Venezia Santa Lucia Railway Station It only takes about 35-40 minutes. And then you'll get to experience that magical feeling... When you step out of the Venice train station and see the Grand Canal right in front of you for the very first time. 🥹✨ ⸻ 💡 Why Should You Stay in Treviso Before Venice? 🌿 Hotels are much cheaper than in Venice ☕ Plenty of cute cafes 📸 Fewer crowds, making for stunning photos 🍝 Local food is better priced 🚆 Getting into Venice is super convenient 🤍 You get to experience truly local Italy For me, Treviso isn't just a stopover town; it's a charming little city that will make you fall in love with Italy from the very first day of your trip. 🇮🇹🌿✨ ☕🌿🤍🇮🇹🚆🍰📸🌅✨

One thing I quickly noticed while wandering around the Old Town of Treviso was that many of the historic buildings seemed determined to blend in with one another. Beautiful? Absolutely. Easy to identify? Not always. The buildings stand shoulder to shoulder along narrow streets and charming piazzas, many dating back centuries and sharing similar architectural styles. After a while, I started feeling like I was playing a historical version of "spot the difference." Perhaps that's just my ignorance speaking. Lol. Fortunately, one building manages to stand out from the crowd: the impressive Palazzo dei Trecento, also known as the Palazzo della Ragione. Located right in the heart of Piazza dei Signori, this historic palace has been one of Treviso's most important civic buildings for centuries and today serves as the home of the Treviso Municipal Council. The palace was built during the 13th and 14th centuries as the seat of the Maggior Consiglio ("Highest Council"), which was the city's main governing body. Designed by Venetian architect Gabriele Saccon, the building is constructed primarily of brick and features a large open loggia on the ground floor. The upper level is distinguished by three elegant triple-mullioned windows, giving the façade a stately yet surprisingly graceful appearance. Inside, visitors can find remnants of beautiful frescoes painted between the 14th and 16th centuries by Venetian artists. These works depict coats of arms, themes of civil authority and justice, and religious subjects, including a Madonna and Child, Saint Liberalis, Saint Peter, and representations of the Cardinal Virtues. In short, it is exactly the kind of place that history lovers would happily spend time exploring. Or at least that was the plan. My brother immediately spotted a staircase and decided to climb up to see what kind of view awaited him at the top. Meanwhile, I became distracted by details underneath the staircase. A classic case of sibling sightseeing. By the time he came back down, I had already gone up. And when I came back down, he had wandered off again. For a brief moment, we were probably conducting two completely different tours of the same building without realizing it. Efficient. Or chaotic. Possibly both. Unfortunately, our timing was less than ideal. When we first arrived, it was lunchtime and the palace was closed. No problem, we thought. We'll come back later. And we did. Sure enough, when we passed by again, it was open. Excellent. Perfect. The only small problem was that by then, the afternoon heat had reached a level where even our enthusiasm for history was beginning to melt. I pointed toward the building. My brother pointed toward a gelato shop. The gelato shop won. Without much of a fight. In fairness, it was one of those scorching Italian summer afternoons where every step felt like a negotiation with the sun. At that point, the choice between medieval frescoes and cold gelato was never really a fair contest. History is important. But so is survival. And gelato, as it turns out, is surprisingly effective at preserving both morale and tourists. So while we admired the Palazzo dei Trecento from the outside and explored parts of its surroundings, the deeper historical investigation would have to wait for another visit. Preferably during a cooler season. Or at least after dessert. 😄🏛️🍨🇮🇹 📍 Address Palazzo dei Trecento (Palazzo della Ragione) Piazza dei Signori, 31100 Treviso, Italy A symbol of Treviso's civic history, standing proudly in the city's most famous square—and proof that even centuries-old palaces can occasionally lose a battle against a scoop of gelato on a hot summer afternoon. 🍨✨🏛️🇮🇹 #foodie #travel2026 #treviso #italy

If your dream road trip involves emerald-green rolling hills draped entirely in grapevines, the drive through the Valdobbiadene wine region is pure heaven. This stunning, UNESCO World Heritage landscape is where Italy’s finest Prosecco Superiore is crafted, and navigating the winding ridge roads offers breathtaking panoramas at every turn. We pulled into a local cantina (winery) for a tasting session. While a full gourmet guided tour generally sits around €20 to €30 nowadays, you can still easily enjoy a casual, incredibly affordable tasting of their crisp, bubbling Prosecco paired with rustic wooden boards piled high with local cured meats and regional cheeses. The sparkling wine is so light and fresh, and getting to buy a couple of authentic, estate-bottled vintages straight from the cellar doors to pack into our suitcases was the ultimate souvenir! Insider Tips: · Designated Driver: The winding, steep hillside roads require sharp focus. If everyone wants to participate in the tastings, consider hiring a local driver from Treviso or booking an e-bike tour through the vineyards! · The Prosecco Vending Machine: Look out for the famous All'Osteria senza Oste (The Inn Without a Host)—a rustic hilltop cottage where you can buy chilled Prosecco and snacks directly from vending machines and sit on the grass overlooking the valley. #Valdobbiadene #ProseccoHills #ConeglianoValdobbiadeneene #VenetoWine #WineRoadTrip #CantinaTasting #UNESCOWorldHeritage #ItalianWine #TripMoments

While most travellers head straight to Venice, stopping in the incredibly picturesque town of Treviso is the ultimate insider move. Often called "Little Venice" because of the crystal-clear canals threading beneath its ancient weeping willows and frescoed houses, it has all the charm with a fraction of the crowds. Wandering down its narrow, winding streets feels like stepping into a storybook, packed with lovely little specialty shops and local boutiques. Make sure you track down the quirky Fontana delle Tette (the Fountain of Breasts), a historic 16th-century fountain that used to flow with free wine during celebrations! And fun fact: Treviso is the official, undisputed birthplace of Tiramisu. Stopping at a local pasticceria to have an authentic, incredibly creamy slice right where it was invented is a non-negotiable culinary rite of passage. Insider Tips: · Where to Eat Tiramisu: Head to Le Beccherie, the historic restaurant where the dessert was officially added to the menu in the 1970s, for the definitive, original recipe. · Exploring on Foot: The historic centre is completely pedestrian-friendly. Take your time to simply get lost along the river paths; the water wheels scattered around the town are incredibly peaceful. #treviso #visittreviso #venetotravel #tiramisubirthplace #fontanadelletette #hiddenitaly #exploreveneto #italytravels #tripmoments

I never knew that in Treviso, the birthplace of tiramisu, you could find a perfectly good serving of this legendary dessert for just €2. Naturally, that discovery made my day. Since the weather was hot enough to convince us that walking was an overrated activity, my brother and I decided to make full use of our day pass and explore Treviso by city bus instead. After completing what felt like the grand tour of the city, the bus stopped near a bridge in the Old Town. An unusual place for a final stop, perhaps. Then again, in Italy, I've learned not to question these things too much. Right across the bridge stood Caffè Diemme Italian Attitude, a charming café that has been serving customers since 1927. By now, you've probably noticed that I have a soft spot for businesses that have survived decades of changing trends, economic crises, and generations of customers. If a place is still thriving after nearly a century, they must be doing something right. And they certainly were. The staff were incredibly friendly and patiently explained that they offered two sizes of tiramisu. A small one for €2. A large one for €3. The decision should have been difficult. It wasn't. For scientific and gastronomic reasons, I naturally chose the larger one. Lol. To combat the summer heat, we also ordered iced tea. Unfortunately, they had run out of their Moroccan mint iced tea, which sounded perfect for the weather. So I settled for a refreshing ginger and lemon iced tea instead, while my brother went for the raspberry version. Both were excellent. The café itself was a lovely place to relax. Besides coffee, they offered sandwiches, pastries, cakes, sweet treats, and even coffee beans to take home. Yet somehow, the humble tiramisu remained one of the best bargains on the menu. And what a location. The café sits right beside one of Treviso's beautiful canals, with lovely views of the bridge and water. It was the sort of place where you plan to stop for fifteen minutes and somehow find yourself still sitting there much later, wondering whether another dessert would really be such a terrible idea. Probably not. After all, this is Treviso. If there is any city in the world where nobody will judge your daily tiramisu consumption, surely it is the city that invented it. To this day, I'm still suffering from a mild case of tiramisu withdrawal. The only known cure appears to be returning to Italy and conducting further research. Preferably in spring. For purely medical reasons, of course. 😄🍰🇮🇹 📍 Address Caffè Diemme Italian Attitude Via Roma, 33, 31100, Treviso TV, Italy A historic café, a canal-side view, refreshing iced tea, and a tiramisu that costs less than some bottles of water—what more could a traveller ask for? #italy #travel2026 #treviso #foodie #tiramisu

In Treviso, nobody seems remotely interested in counting how many cups of gelato, slices of cake, or bowls of tiramisu you're consuming in a single day. Honestly, that's one of the city's greatest qualities. If tiramisu could somehow be classified as a balanced meal, I would happily eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner—especially during a scorching Italian summer. On this particular afternoon, my brother and I were waiting for a nearby ramen restaurant to open at 7 pm. The problem was that the sun appeared to have declared war on humanity. Walking around outside felt less like sightseeing and more like participating in a slow-cooking experiment. So, in the interest of survival, we ducked into Feltrin Sommariva. This charming spot seemed to have everything imaginable: alcoholic drinks, gelato, cakes, snacks, starters, and even proper meals depending on what time of day you arrived. In other words, it was the sort of place where you could stop for a quick drink and accidentally stay for two hours. Its location was equally lovely, sitting right beside one of Treviso's enchanting canals. Under normal circumstances, I would have happily sat outside admiring the view. But these were not normal circumstances. This was air-conditioning versus heatstroke. As someone who has spent more than twenty years living in Singapore and still prefers the comfort of an air-conditioned room, the decision took approximately three seconds. The indoor seating won by a landslide. My brother ordered an Affogato al Mirtillo along with his faithful travel companion, the Aperol Spritz. At this point, I was beginning to suspect that Aperol was sponsoring our holiday. Meanwhile, I chose a generous serving of tiramisu and helped myself to a few of my brother's salted peanuts. By "a few," I mean enough for him to notice. The cold desserts were exactly what we needed to combat the summer heat. Now, I'm generally not a huge fan of gelato or ice cream, especially when they come loaded with toppings. My brother, on the other hand, approaches such desserts with the enthusiasm of a child entering a toy shop. But the real star for me was the tiramisu. It was absolutely heavenly. The mascarpone cream was rich yet wonderfully light, while the ladyfingers had absorbed just the right amount of coffee and liqueur. The flavours were perfectly balanced—not too sweet, not too strong, and not overly heavy despite the creamy texture. The kind of dessert that quietly convinces you to order another portion. If only social norms—and waistlines—weren't a thing. Looking back, it was probably one of the most enjoyable "cooling breaks" of our trip. And yes, before you ask, we still managed to have ramen afterwards. Apparently, tiramisu counts as an appetizer when you're on holiday. 📍 Address Feltrin Sommariva Corso del Popolo, 1, 31100, Treviso TV Italy A delightful stop in Treviso for desserts, drinks, and a much-needed escape from the summer sun—where tiramisu isn't just dessert, it's a perfectly reasonable pre-ramen course. 🍰🍹😄🇮🇹 #italy #travel2026 #tiramisu #gelato #treviso

One of the things I quickly learned about Treviso is that its old town isn't particularly large. That's actually part of its charm. You can wander through medieval streets, cross picturesque canals, stop for a tiramisu break (or two), and still find yourself discovering hidden corners you hadn't noticed before. One such discovery was the Chiesa di San Martino Urbano. Located just beyond the busiest parts of the historic centre, this church is easy to spot and well worth a look. While many visitors focus on Treviso's famous canals, city walls, and piazzas, San Martino quietly stands as one of the city's oldest religious sites. And when I say old, I mean really old. The church traces its origins back to the 8th century, making it one of the oldest churches in Treviso. To put that into perspective, the church was already around long before coffee arrived in Italy, long before tiramisu was invented, and long before tourists started taking photos of everything they ate. Over the centuries, the church witnessed countless changes in the city, surviving wars, political upheavals, and generations of Trevisans. Unfortunately, World War II proved particularly devastating. The original Romanesque church was almost completely destroyed during a heavy bombing raid in 1944. What visitors see today is a modest modern church rebuilt during the 1960s. While the current structure is much newer, it continues the long tradition of worship on the site. One particularly lovely feature that survived the passage of time is the bell tower, which remains older than the present church building and adds a sense of historical continuity. Standing beside the newer church, it feels like a quiet reminder of the centuries that came before. We passed by the church several times during our stay in Treviso. As luck would have it, the one occasion we found the church open happened to coincide with a Mass in progress. Naturally, photography was not permitted, and quite rightly so. Some places are best appreciated respectfully rather than through a camera lens. So instead of taking pictures, we simply admired the church from the doorway before continuing our walk. Despite its relatively simple appearance, there was something undeniably charming about it. Unlike grand cathedrals that demand attention, San Martino seems content to sit quietly among the surrounding streets, blending naturally into the rhythm of everyday Treviso. Perhaps that's why I found it memorable. Not every historic church needs towering domes or elaborate façades to leave an impression. Sometimes a peaceful church with more than twelve centuries of history, an elegant bell tower, and a quiet place in the city is enough. And honestly, after a day of sightseeing, pasta, gelato, and chasing down the best tiramisu in town, a little peace and quiet felt perfectly appropriate. 📍 Address Chiesa di San Martino Urbano Via San Martino Urbano, 31100 Treviso, Italy A humble yet fascinating piece of Treviso's history—proof that sometimes the oldest stories in a city are found in the quietest places. ⛪🔔🇮🇹✨ #travel2026 #church #italy #treviso

When your brother is a devoted fan of all things Italian, you quickly learn that in Italy, old restaurants are treated with almost the same respect as historical monuments. So when he discovered Toni del Spin, a trattoria that has been serving customers since 1880, there was absolutely no way we were skipping it. Established more than a century before either of us existed, Toni del Spin is one of Treviso's oldest trattorias and is renowned for its traditional Venetian cuisine. The restaurant sits in the heart of the old town, quietly proving that if you serve good food for long enough, people will keep coming back for generations. We almost didn't make it. Like many establishments in Treviso, the restaurant closes in the afternoon before reopening for dinner. We found ourselves racing against the clock to arrive before the 2:30 pm lunch cutoff. Nothing motivates tourists quite like the possibility of missing lunch. Fortunately, we arrived in time. My brother immediately ordered one of Treviso's most famous pasta specialties: Bigoli in Salsa di Acciuga e Cipolla. For the uninitiated, Bigoli is a thick, rustic pasta traditionally associated with the Veneto region. The sauce combines anchovies and onions, creating a flavour that is unapologetically bold. After stealing one or two strands from my brother's plate in the name of culinary research, I can confirm that the anchovies definitely introduced themselves very clearly. No need for name tags there. Meanwhile, I chose the Gnocchi di Patate con Ragù di Coniglio—potato gnocchi with rabbit ragù. It was delicious on its own, but naturally I enhanced it with Parmesan cheese and my trusty Indonesian chili sauce. Somewhere in Italy, an elderly grandmother probably felt a disturbance in the force. Had a true-blue Italian witnessed this combination, I suspect I would have earned enough eye-rolls to power the entire city of Treviso for a week. Lol. Not content with one dish, my brother also ordered a secondo: Seppie in Umido con Polenta, or stewed cuttlefish with polenta. I have to say, Italian menus possess a remarkable talent. "Seppie in Umido con Polenta" sounds elegant, refined, and worthy of a white tablecloth. "Stewed cuttlefish with corn cake" sounds like something your aunt improvises on a Tuesday evening. Language really is everything. Lol. Then came dessert. Naturally, we ordered tiramisu. My brother immediately approved because, according to him, it contained a proper amount of liquor. Throughout our Italy trip, he seemed to judge tiramisu using a very simple rating system: More liquor = better tiramisu. However, the real surprise of the meal was something I had been hunting for throughout our trip: Semifreddo all'Amaretto con Riccioli di Cioccolato. I had searched menus, checked reviews, and even planned parts of our itinerary around finding a good semifreddo. Some people build travel itineraries around landmarks. We apparently build them around desserts. In fact, our food itinerary was probably more detailed than those offered by some tour companies. Lol. And it was worth it. The semifreddo was unlike anything else I had tried. Creamy, smooth, slightly cheesy, yet not quite a cheesecake. There were delicate chocolate curls throughout, adding texture without overwhelming the dessert. It wasn't overly sweet, nor was it savoury. It simply sat in that perfect middle ground where every spoonful made you want another. For the first time during the trip, I found myself abandoning the tiramisu in favour of another dessert. That's how good it was. Of course, my brother accompanied his meal with an Aperol Spritz, which by this stage had become his unofficial travel companion. Meanwhile, I was delighted to discover that the restaurant actually served iced tea. Sometimes happiness comes in a glass filled with ice cubes. The final verdict? Outstanding. My brother's dishes captured the rich umami flavours of the sea, while my rabbit ragù carried hints of the famous ragù traditions of nearby Bologna, though thankfully with a gentler hand on the salt. Every dish felt authentic, comforting, and expertly prepared. After one meal, it became very clear why Toni del Spin has survived since 1880. Restaurants don't stay open for nearly a century and a half by accident. They stay open because generations of customers leave happy, full, and already planning their next visit. 📍 Address Toni del Spin Via Inferiore 7, 31100 Treviso, Italy A historic Treviso institution serving classic Venetian cuisine, memorable desserts, and enough culinary charm to make you understand why some restaurants become legends. 🍝🍹🍮😄🇮🇹 #travel2026 #foodie #pasta #desserts #italy #treviso

If there’s one food establishment that remains unforgettable from our time in Treviso, it has to be Signore & Signori. Calling it simply a restaurant feels almost unfair. It's a ristorante, caffetteria, gelateria, and pasticceria all rolled into one stylish package. In other words, whatever food-related craving you happen to have, there's a very good chance Signore & Signori has already thought of it. Its location couldn't be more perfect either. Sitting right on Piazza dei Signori, Treviso's most famous square, it's practically impossible to miss. Whether you're exploring the old town on foot, joining a guided tour, arriving by public bus, or even riding the adorable Trenino Green di Treviso, sooner or later you'll find yourself passing by its doors. And that's exactly how temptation begins. The café proudly claims to be the best tiramisu house in Treviso, which is a bold statement in a city that considers tiramisu part of its culinary identity. Naturally, on our last day in town, there was no way we were leaving without putting that claim to the test. The moment we stepped inside, we understood the danger. The pastry display was absolutely irresistible. Rows of beautifully crafted cakes, pastries, and desserts stared back at us like a team of highly trained salespeople. Had my brother and I not already eaten elsewhere beforehand, I'm fairly certain we would have left with enough pastries to qualify as a small bakery ourselves. The atmosphere was equally impressive. The place felt chic, elegant, and slightly theatrical, as though someone had combined a classic Italian café with a vintage movie set. Faux film posters decorated the walls, old-fashioned chairs lined the outdoor terrace, and the interior somehow managed to feel both modern and nostalgic at the same time. Every corner seemed carefully designed to make you stop and admire it. Then came the main event. The tiramisu. My brother's first observation was the generous presence of rum. In fact, he was positively delighted by it. According to him, many tiramisu places had become far too shy with the alcohol, whereas this one remembered that rum was meant to be noticed. As for me, I have to defend Treviso's tiramisu in general. Throughout our stay, we found the tiramisu here richer, creamier, and more indulgent than many versions we'd tried elsewhere. And really, it shouldn't be surprising. After all, Treviso is widely regarded as the birthplace of tiramisu. If any city knows how to make this dessert properly, surely it's this one. The verdict? Absolutely worth it. Delicious, creamy, beautifully balanced, and carrying just enough rum to make my brother grin with approval. If you're visiting Treviso, skipping tiramisu would be like visiting Venice and ignoring the canals. It's simply not something you're supposed to do. And if you're looking for a place to start your tiramisu pilgrimage, Signore & Signori makes a very convincing case. 📍 Address Signore & Signori Piazza dei Signori 9, 31100 Treviso, Italy A stylish café, pastry shop, gelateria, and restaurant in the heart of Treviso—and possibly one of the most delicious ways to say goodbye to the city that gave the world tiramisu. Ciao, Treviso. And thanks for the extra calories. They were absolutely worth it. 🍰☕😄🇮🇹 #tiramisu #foodie #italy #treviso

Venice is redefining exploration. The floating city has stepped up its sustainable tourism model to curb overcrowding, meaning you can minimize your carbon footprint while experiencing the authentic Venetian soul. 🌸 When to Jet: Late autumn or early spring (October–November or April). The weather is refreshingly crisp, and visiting off-peak directly helps alleviate seasonal strain on local resources. 🚀 Eco-Transit Hacks: Forget fossil fuels. Use electric ACTV Vaporetto water buses by grabbing a multi-day pass. Crucial update: If visiting as a day-tripper on peak dates, register for the mandatory Venice Access Fee (Contributo di Accesso) online four days early to pay €5 instead of the €10 last-minute rate! 🗺️ Sustainable Itinerary: Day 1: Explore the artisan glass-blowing workshops of Murano. Day 2: Follow the city's official #Detourism routes to discover hidden gardens in the quiet Cannaregio district. Day 3: Take a zero-emission regional train to nearby eco-farms in Treviso. 🥢 Green Eats: Avoid plastic-heavy tourist traps. Dine at Osteria alle Testiere for strictly sustainable, daily catch seafood sourced directly from local lagoon fishermen. 🛑 The Eco-Rules: 🟢 Carry a reusable bottle; the city center features over 100 public drinking fountains. 🟢 Always walk single-file on the right side of narrow canalside alleys. 🔴 Never sit on historic bridge steps or monument stairs to eat meals. 🔴 Avoid buying cheap, imported souvenir trinkets; buy authentic local handicrafts instead. #SustainableVenice #VeniceAccessFee #DetourismVenice #EcoFriendlyTravel #VeniceTravelTips

After a back-to-back marathon of tiramisu and gelato, I was desperately craving something salty. 😂 Treviso turned out to be delightfully old-school in a way that reminded me of my first visit to Venice more than 20 years ago. Many shops still close in the afternoon and reopen in the evening, even on weekdays. When we arrived in the town centre at around 1:30pm, almost every non-food shop had already disappeared behind closed shutters for their afternoon break. Even lunch required careful planning. Some restaurants stopped serving at 2:30pm and only reopened at 6:30pm. In all my recent trips around Italy, I hardly ever encountered this anymore. Naturally, this became our perfect excuse to keep hopping in and out of cafés, pastry shops, and gelaterias all afternoon. Purely for survival purposes, of course. 😇 By 7pm, we were more than ready for dinner and headed to: 📍 Mic Ramen Treviso Via Inferiore 35, 31100 Treviso, Italy The moment we stepped inside, it felt like we had accidentally taken a wrong turn and ended up in Osaka. The place was bursting with personality. Loud Japanese-style decorations, quirky merchandise, colourful signs, and even costumes scattered around the restaurant. To this day, I still have no idea whether those costumes were for sale, for customers to wear, or simply part of the décor. 😂 They even recreated seating inspired by old Japanese metro trains. It was wonderfully cheeky, playful, and completely over the top—in the best possible way. The décor may be fun and quirky, but when it comes to ramen, Mic Ramen means business. There were plenty of choices on the menu. As expected, I immediately went for the spiciest option available which was Spicy Miso because apparently I enjoy making myself sweat twice in one day. 🌶️😂 Meanwhile, my brother chose a Dry Pork Ramen. The drinks were equally interesting. They even had their own Japanese-inspired take on a Spritz called Midori Spritz, made with melon liqueur. Naturally, my brother couldn't resist trying it. I stayed loyal to my simple combination of water and iced lemon tea. For starters, I ordered the fried tofu, which turned out to be absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and dangerously addictive. One thing I really appreciated was how accommodating they were with customisations. They happily added extra chilli oil upon request, and when I decided I wanted my chopped bacon transferred directly into my brother’s bowl while adopting his unwanted corn into mine, nobody batted an eyelid. A successful ingredient exchange programme was carried out. 🤝🌽🥓 As the evening progressed, the restaurant became noticeably busier. More and more diners streamed in, proving we weren't the only ones who had discovered this gem. Before we knew it, we had spent nearly two hours there and only left close to 9pm—just in time to catch the last bus back to our B&B. And honestly, that's what I loved about Treviso. It's so different from modern Singapore. Life moves at a gentler pace here. People are friendly. The sun shines brightly. Tiramisu seems to appear around every corner. And everywhere you go, you're greeted with a cheerful and enthusiastic "Buongiorno!" Treviso may not be Italy's most famous city, but it has a charm that quietly wins you over one smile, one bowl of ramen, and one tiramisu at a time. 🇮🇹🍜☀️😋 #foodie #ramen #italy #treviso

When you're in Italy, there are certain things you simply cannot skip: pizza, pasta, espresso... and anything proudly labelled artigianale (artisanal). Italians take that word very seriously, and after a few times of travelling around the country, so do I. 😌 And since Treviso is widely regarded as the birthplace of tiramisu, there was absolutely no way I was leaving town without squeezing in one final tiramisu mission. Our target: 📍 Max Pasticceria Via Barberia 35, 31100 Treviso, Italy This elegant pastry shop is associated with renowned pastry chef Massimo Albanese, and boldly presents its tiramisu as one of the finest artisanal versions in Treviso. Miglior tiramisu di Treviso 🤤. A bold claim. A dangerous claim. A claim that naturally required immediate investigation. 😂 So in we went. The verdict? Absolutely delicious. The mascarpone was silky smooth, the coffee flavour beautifully balanced, and the whole thing somehow disappeared far quicker than I would like to admit. Let's just say the spoon was working overtime that morning. ☕🍰 Of course, stopping at tiramisu alone would have shown remarkable self-control, which neither my brother nor I possessed. Max Pasticceria has an impressive display of pastries that could easily make you forget every diet you've ever attempted. There were all sorts of beautiful creations with flavours and combinations that felt far more inventive than the classic pastries we usually encounter elsewhere in Italy. My brother immediately locked onto a raspberry pastry like a guided missile. 🎯😂 One bite later, his facial expression told me everything I needed to know. Success. As we sat outside enjoying our breakfast, Treviso showed off its softer side. The morning air was still pleasantly cool before the afternoon heat arrived, and a gentle early-summer breeze drifted through the streets, occasionally attempting to rearrange our hair for free. It was one of those simple travel moments that somehow become the most memorable. No rushing. No schedules. No sightseeing checklist. Just excellent pastries, legendary tiramisu, good company, and a beautiful Italian morning. The funny thing about travelling is that you often remember these small moments more than the famous landmarks. Years from now, I may forget exactly which street we walked down that day, but I'll probably remember sitting in Treviso with a spoonful of artisanal tiramisu, wondering whether it would be socially acceptable to order a second one before 10am. 😂 Our next destination was Padova, and our European adventure was slowly approaching its final chapter. But while holidays eventually end, the memories — and unfortunately the calories — tend to stay with us a little longer. 🇮🇹✨🍰😋 #italy #travel2026 #treviso #tiramisu

The weather in Treviso was absolutely scorching today — the kind of heat that makes you actively look for shade every three minutes and consider gelato a basic survival necessity. ☀️😂 Luckily, our friendly B&B host came to the rescue with a very important local tip: if you're in Treviso, you simply must try gelato. Apparently, many gelato makers learn the art of authentic gelato-making here, so we took that as a challenge we were more than happy to accept. Our destination: 📍 Gelateria Calmaggiore Via Calmaggiore, 31100 Treviso, Italy And what a find it was. Established in 1978, Gelateria Calmaggiore proudly holds the title of the first gelateria in Treviso. That's nearly half a century of scooping happiness into cones and cups — and yes, it's even older than me. 😂 Now, here's the funny part: I'm not actually a huge fan of ice cream, sorbet, or gelato. My brother, on the other hand, treats frozen desserts like a major food group. So while he was busy studying the gelato flavours like a scholar preparing for an exam, I was wondering what on earth I was going to order. Then I spotted it. Tiramisu. Not tiramisu gelato. Not tiramisu-flavoured anything. Just honest-to-goodness tiramisu. ❤️ At this point, I've realised that in Italy, whether it's a café, trattoria, osteria, deli, restaurant, or gelateria, somebody somewhere will find a way to serve tiramisu. And frankly, I'm not complaining. One bite was all it took to understand why this place has lasted since 1978. It was rich without being heavy, creamy without being overly sweet, and packed with that beautiful coffee flavour that makes tiramisu one of Italy's greatest inventions. Easily one of the best tiramisus I've had this year. My brother was equally happy with his gelato combination of raspberry and zabaione, which he happily devoured despite the generous portion size. The raspberry brought a lovely fruity freshness, while the zabaione added a smooth, creamy richness that balanced everything perfectly. So whether you're a serious gelato enthusiast or someone like me who somehow ends up ordering tiramisu at every opportunity, Gelateria Calmaggiore is well worth a visit. After all, a gelateria that has been delighting people since 1978 must be doing something right. 🍨😋 Go try it yourself — your taste buds will thank you, especially on a hot Treviso afternoon. #italy #travel2026 #treviso #tiramisu #desserts #foodie
