The meals were excellent, with plentiful and high-quality food at breakfast and dinner, adding even more enjoyment to the trip. Our route included a wonderful variety of stops: Pitlochry, Inverness, Sheildaig, Lochcarron, Ullapool, Smoo Cave, Wick, and John O’ Groats. Each destination offered something unique, from coastal views to charming villages and dramatic landscapes. On our return journey, we visited Dunrobin Castle, enjoying a tour and an impressive falconry display in the gardens. A final stop in Pitlochry allowed us to stretch our legs and enjoy the town before heading home. The atmosphere onboard the coach was another highlight. Ullapool is a small village and port to Stornoway. It is 55 miles away from Inverness, a stop point for the North Coast 500, despite its modest size, it is the largest settlement for many miles around. Bus 961 from Inverness also reached here for around 1.5 hours. The sea front is great to walk along, watching wildlife and boat landing, you can take the boats cruise along the seafront, for an hour or two to offshore. From the village you can walk up to Braes and get a stunning view down to Ullappol and the sea. The seafood shack 200 metres away from the harbour serves delicious crab claws, prawns and Haddock wrap.
