Uruma travel guide and discussion

Across the Kaichu Road from Okinawa’s main island and venture past the Katsuren Peninsula to find Hamahiga Island. In this nature-rich island sits the Takaesu Salt Factory, which produces salt using traditional methods. It is known as a place where salt is crafted with artisan dedication using only Okinawa’s beautiful, clear seawater as a raw material. I stopped by during a drive recently, so I’ll give you a detailed report on its charm and highlights! Upon arriving at the grounds, the first thing that struck me was the simple and warm exterior, reminiscent of Okinawa’s original landscape. It doesn’t feel like a flashy tourist facility; rather, the building blends into the lush nature, giving you a sense that this is a place of artisan craftsmanship. The handmade signs and somewhat nostalgic appearance warmly welcome visitors, and as soon as you step onto the property, you can feel the slow "island time" flowing. It’s a wonderful entrance that heightens the excitement of touching the true face of Okinawa away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Venturing deeper into the grounds, a small path appears, sandwiched between lush trees and flowers. It feels like a "secret path" out of a Ghibli movie, and the time spent walking through the green tunnel was incredibly romantic and memorable. The refreshing sea breeze blowing through the gaps in the trees and the excitement as the sound of the waves gradually grows louder is irresistible. Beyond the path lies the overwhelmingly beautiful emerald green and cobalt blue sea unique to the Ikei Island area! It’s a top-tier romantic spot where you can personally feel just how pure and blessed the environment is from which the seawater for the salt is harvested. It’s also extremely photogenic, allowing you to capture a memorable photo. One of the absolute must-sees here is the traditional "Ryuka-shiki" (falling-stream style) salt production facility. Ryuka-shiki is a traditional method where seawater is passed through a large, three-dimensional apparatus made of bamboo branches and the like, using the power of the sun and wind to repeatedly evaporate the moisture and increase the salt concentration of the seawater. Seeing the massive framework and equipment up close, you can't help but marvel at the depth of human wisdom and traditional techniques that make the most of nature's power. Unlike salt mass-produced by modern machinery, seeing the process of carefully condensing the sea's umami over time makes it clear just how precious and special the salt made here is. After finishing the tour, I stopped by the shop area I had been looking forward to. The store is lined with freshly made salt carefully crafted at the Takaesu Salt Factory, as well as various processed goods and local specialties using that salt. Even though it's all "salt," the grain size, texture, and flavor differ, and it is characterized by a mellow umami that condenses the minerals of the Okinawan sea. From versatile salt that enhances the flavor of dishes to the flavorful packaging, it’s perfect as a treat for yourself or as a souvenir or gift for loved ones. The staff were also extremely kind and warmly taught me about recommended ways to use it and their dedication to salt-making, making the shopping itself a very enjoyable time. Takaesu Salt Factory is a wonderful hidden gem where you can experience Okinawa's rich nature, crystal-clear sea, and traditional craftsmanship all at once, not just for shopping. It is easily accessible as a stop-off point while driving along the Kaichu Road, and I think it’s the best place to include in a driving itinerary. Listening to the sound of the waves, looking at the beautiful sea, and encountering exquisite, carefully crafted salt—this is a place where such a luxurious Okinawan experience can come true. Please be sure to stop by when you visit the island! I highly recommend it! Travel salt

📍Okinawa CAVE OKINAWA Gyokusendo is undeniably the most famous limestone cave in Okinawa. But this time, while staying at a guesthouse in Onna, we stumbled upon CAVE OKINAWA. It was originally just another stop on our itinerary, but it turned out to be a surprisingly memorable highlight. As soon as you walk into the cave, you're hit with super cool air— perfect for a stroll in the hot weather! CAVE OKINAWA isn't massive, but it's incredibly well laid out with a wooden boardwalk extending all the way through. Paired with colorful light projections, it feels absolutely magical. There are even designated photo spots along the way, which is a really nice touch. Gazing up at the intertwining stalactites truly makes you want to stop and stare a little longer. The vibe here is completely different from Gyokusendo. CAVE OKINAWA is definitely worth adding to your plans. Take an hour, slow down your pace, and just soak in the cool breeze and the natural rock walls carved by time.

📝 My Thoughts When you think of Okinawa, beautiful beaches usually come to mind, but it’s actually packed with breathtaking views, incredible food, shopping, and traditional culture. Here are my top spots that truly blew me away on my trip to Okinawa—you definitely have to check these out! 💙 Heart Rock A highly popular scenic spot on Kouri Island. It’s famous as a "power spot for love" because the two rocks align to form the shape of a heart. The contrast between the emerald green ocean and the white sandy beach is absolutely stunning, offering that classic Okinawan paradise vibe. I highly recommend going early in the morning when it’s less crowded for the best photos. 🧂 Nuchimasu Sightseeing Salt Factory This facility produces "Nuchimasu," a special Okinawan salt made using a globally rare method. Beyond the factory tour, the view of the dramatic cliffs and the expansive blue ocean right in front of you is nothing short of majestic. The grounds are home to spiritual power spots like: 🩵 "Kafu Banta" 🩵 Ryujin Fudo If you love jaw-dropping scenery, this is a must-visit place. 🏺 Tsuboya Yachimun Street The heart of Okinawa’s traditional "Yachimun" (pottery) craft. Lined with pottery studios, charming boutiques, and cafes along a cobblestone street, this area is a joy just to take a leisurely stroll through. Walking around looking for the perfect ceramic piece was a really special way to connect with Okinawan culture. 🌴 American Village A massive hotspot that feels exactly like an overseas resort. It’s packed with things to do, featuring colorful buildings, a Ferris wheel, great shopping, and diverse eats. The sunsets in the evening are gorgeous, and the vibrant, illuminated streets at night feel purely magical. I find myself wanting to drop by here every time I visit Okinawa. 🍜 Kokusai Dori (International Street) The absolute staple of Okinawa sightseeing. It's a no-brainer for souvenir shopping, but it’s also the place to be if you want to fully enjoy Okinawan cuisine. My personal favorite is Okinawa Soba. The comforting broth made from pork bone and bonito stock paired with chewy noodles is simply exquisite. There are tons of soba joints around Kokusai Dori, ranging from historic spots to modern favorites, making it fun to hop around and compare them. 🌴 Must-Try Okinawan Eats 🍜 Okinawa Soba 🥩 Okinawa Steak 🐟 Sea Grapes (Umi-budo) 🍍 Okinawan Fruits 🍨 Blue Seal Ice Cream 🥢 Goya Champuru (Bitter Melon Stir-fry) 📷 Best Photo Spots 📸 Heart Rock 📸 The breathtaking view from Kafu Banta 📸 The cobblestones of Yachimun Street 📸 The colorful vibes of American Village 📸 The neon lights and foodie finds on Kokusai Dori 🌟 To Sum It Up 👉 "Scenic views, culture, shopping, and food. There’s so much more to Okinawa than just the ocean." The true magic of Okinawa is that you’ll discover something new no matter how many times you visit. 🔥 Final Thought 👉 "Blown away by the views at Heart Rock, energized by nature at Nuchimasu, and immersed in local culture on Yachimun Street. Okinawa is a truly special place that captures your heart every single visit." 🌺🌴💙🍜🏺📸✨💕

📝 Impressions To get straight to the point, this place was **more like a "theme park with spectacular views" than just a "salt factory."** At first, I thought, 👉 "Is a salt factory really that fun?" But once I got there, it was actually super interesting. Inside the factory, salt was swirling around like a white mist, 👉 I was completely shocked like, "Wait, is this all salt!?" Plus, when you step outside, the Okinawan sea is right in front of you. The view from the top of the cliff was absolutely stunning, and honestly, I was more moved by the scenery than the factory tour itself. 🌴 Recommended Spots ・Nuchima-su Tourist Salt Factory ・Salt Manufacturing Process Tour ・Kafu Banta (Happy Cliff) ・Ryujin Fudo (Dragon God Wind Path) ・Salt Soft Serve Ice Cream 🗺️ Strategy Tips ・First, check out the factory tour ・Next, sample and browse souvenirs at the shop ・Finally, taking a walk to Kafu Banta is highly recommended 👉 The flow of Factory -> Souvenir Shop -> Scenic View was absolutely perfect. 📷 Photo Tips ・The white salt inside the factory ・The ocean view from Kafu Banta ・The scenery from the top of the cliff ・Salt Soft Serve Ice Cream 👉 Kafu Banta truly offers some of the top-tier views in all of Okinawa. 🍦 Recommended Gourmet ・Salt Soft Serve Ice Cream ・Salt Chinsuko (Okinawan shortbread) ・Sweets made with Nuchima-su salt ・Salt Rice Crackers 👉 The salt soft serve was incredibly delicious, with a perfect hint of saltiness balancing the sweetness. 🎫 Tickets ・Factory tour is free ・Kafu Banta is also free 🚗 Transportation ・About 1 hour and 15 minutes by car from Naha Airport ・2768 Miyagi, Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture ・Renting a car is highly recommended 🕝 Business Hours ・9:00 AM - 5:30 PM ・Open year-round 🏷️ Other Points ・Since you get a great view of the ocean, going on a sunny day is recommended ・The factory tour is short, making it an easy pit stop ・The souvenir selection is huge, so you'll naturally want to buy things 👉 Honestly, rather than a "factory tour," 👉 it felt more like "the most scenic pit stop in Okinawa." 🌟 Summary 👉 "This is the best value spot in Okinawa." If you're visiting Okinawa's main island, taking a leisurely drive to explore is highly recommended! Here are two must-visit scenic spots on Okinawa's main island 📝 ① Hyakuna Beach Known as a sacred site where the Ryukyuan creation deity Amamikiyo is said to have landed, Hyakuna Beach 🏖️ features a picturesque tree tunnel at the entrance. Be sure to snap some photos here before heading to the beach! ② Cape Kafu Banta Drive through the Kaichu-doro (Sea Road) to reach Miyagi Island 🚗. Cape Kafu Banta offers breathtaking views of the ocean from a cliff about 70 meters high 📝. Visit around noon to see the vibrant blue of the sea in all its glory 🩵.

✒️ A single road extending into the ocean ✒️ A stunningly beautiful spot that will move you to tears 🥺 Take a drive from Okinawa's main island, crossing the Kaichu Road to reach Miyagi Island 🚗 I wanted to see a spectacular view I had never experienced before, so I decided to visit this place ✨ Uku Beach is a scenic spot where a concrete path leading into the sea creates a magical world reminiscent of "Spirited Away" 🌍 Even just gazing at the sea in a daze is mesmerizingly beautiful. Access is most convenient by car 🚗 I was a bit nervous about the narrow road leading there, wondering what would happen if a car came from the opposite direction, but luckily, no cars came, and I was relieved 😮💨 You’ll need to park in the lot before the beach and walk, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes 👟 📌 Yonashiro Miyagi, Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture

#OkinawaTravel AJ Resort Hotel Ikeijima is located in a tranquil sanctuary on the north end of the secluded and less-visited Ikeijima Island. It boasts the unique Kuroshio Onsen and breathtaking ocean views, which are worth the price of admission alone. The hotel offers numerous recreational facilities, including a swimming pool, a children's playground, tennis courts, a natural beach, and the Kuroshio Onsen. The slightly alkaline spring water is known to soothe muscle fatigue and promote blood circulation, and the spacious bathing area is a delightful experience. As a resort, the room types are diverse, including Western-style, Japanese-style, and single-family cabins. The hotel evokes a relaxed, vacation-inspired atmosphere and offers ample space. A standard double room with ocean view is 35 square meters. Weekdays, two people sharing the room, including breakfast, cost around NT$3,500 per night, making it a good value, though it's best suited for self-driving.

The first photo with the title written on it is the view from the inn where I stayed☺️ It's a little difficult to get to from Naha, but there are fewer people, so it's worth going to Okinawa just to spend time on this island! In fact, that's what I did😁 [What is Tsuken Island?] Tsuken Island is a small island in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, with a circumference of 7 kilometers, one elementary and junior high school, one clinic, and one simple post office. In addition to the beautiful sea and beautiful beaches, 1/3 of the island is carrot fields, so it is also known as "Carrot Island", and you can find a carrot observation deck and sweet and delicious carrots for meals! You can enjoy a "peaceful trip" enjoying the nature and tranquility of Okinawa🤤 [Recommended Accommodations] ・Kamiyaso It's no exaggeration to say that I went here because I wanted to stay here🫨 The inn is located along a beautiful white beach, and the sea is right there! The view from the window is so close that you'll think, "I'm not on the sea, am I?" Apparently, the inn has produced many folk singers, and there is a stage in the dining room on the first floor, where you can enjoy live performances during the day. 😃 The food is delicious and filling! At night, you can have a barbecue on the beach, and of course carrots! In front of the inn, there is a swing that is both photogenic and comfortable! · Basic plan (includes 2 meals, dinner and breakfast) Adults ¥9,000 Children ¥6,000 Children Free · High-quality BBQ plan (includes 2 meals, dinner and breakfast) Adults ¥11,000 Children ¥7,000 Children Free I think you will be very satisfied with the basic plan! And what's more! "Artists only!! BBQ breakfast + accommodation, island revitalization performance plan with music" is ¥5,000 for adults, ¥3,000 for children, free for children. If you perform a live show at the inn, you can stay at a good price and interact with the inn. Musicians, it's a good deal! 🫨 [Recommended spots] You can do marine activities, but the main premise of Tsuken Island is to "enjoy doing nothing." So it's OK even if it's not summer! In fact, it's lucky that there are not many people on the island. The island is flat, so it's best to rent a bicycle to get around the island and relax at places that interest you. You can rent a bicycle at "Azuma Shoten" near the port for 500 yen a day. Cycle, cross the farm road, look at the sea, and relax at the inn. Spend your time slowly like this. [Access] Flights to Tsuken Island depart from Heshikiya Port Passenger Terminal. From Naha Airport, take the Okinawa Expressway and drive about 34km (about 40 minutes) From Heshikiya Port Passenger Terminal, take a boat for about 8km ・15 minutes by high-speed boat Round trip: 1,530 yen for adults, 790 yen for children ・30 minutes by ferry Round trip: 1,240 yen for adults, 630 yen for children · There are about 5 buses a day, but they may change, so please check the time before you go. You can also get to Heshikiya Port by bus from Naha Bus Terminal, and parking is free at Heshikiya Port, so you can also go by rental car 🙆 Please enjoy the best scenery and true relaxation 😊 #Introduction to beautiful scenery in Japan #Okinawa #Okinawa trip #Seaside scenery #Tsuken Island #Few people #Kamiyaso

🙋♀️ Okinawa soba with seafood and chicken and pork broth. Light but with a strong flavor! The soup is made by slowly bringing out the flavor of several types of seafood, such as dried sardines and kelp, at a low temperature, and then combined with chicken and pork broth. It's so delicious that I found a flavor I liked💓 🙋♂️ The original noodles made in the shop are made with wheat flour blended with whole wheat flour from Okinawa Prefecture! The smooth and chewy texture is appetizing😍It goes perfectly with the broth🌟 🙋♀️ Juicy and inari are also recommended❣️You can order juicy or inari for an additional 100 yen with Okinawa soba☺️It's nice to fill your stomach with a large serving of Okinawa soba, but it's also recommended to eat it with rice dishes such as juicy✨ 🙋♂️ All seats are tatami mats in the style of an old Ryukyu house! #springgoodplace2024 #日本 #Okinawa #中海路 The road connecting Uruma City to Yonaga Castle and Heianza Island/Miyagi Island is one of the most famous sea roads in Okinawa. It should not be difficult for self-driving travelers to get there, but it will be more difficult if you take public transportation because there are only communities Buses pass by and are infrequent. This time I was pressed for time and the weather was bad, so I only walked around the Yonaga Castle side for a while. Fortunately, it was only lightly raining. Transportation: Take bus No. 52/61 and get off at the terminal "Yakina Bus Terminal".

#springgoodplace2024 #Japan #Okinawa #United Nations World Heritage Amahori was the last city lord of Katsura Castle. It was once prosperous. Currently, there is a visitor center and a permanent exhibition hall near the ruins of Katsura Castle. It is hoped that the city will become a tourist attraction together with the nearby pond in the future. But in my opinion, this plan may not be successful because it is relatively remote. Transportation: Take bus No. 52/61 and get off at "Satsuren Castle Ruins-mae".

The Katsuren Castle ruins are one of the oldest castles in Okinawa🤩 and part of the World Cultural Heritage👍🏻 Located on a towering limestone hill in Uruma City, it consists of five It is composed of curved wheels, showing a long and narrow shape. On the castle ruins, you can enjoy the beautiful sea view and the scenery of the Okinawa Peninsula, and you can also see the architectural ruins of the time such as the castle gate, well, and place of worship. The Katsuren Castle ruins also have a legendary history. It was once the residence of Amari, a peasant hero who once ruled Okinawa and developed overseas trade. Later, he rebelled against the Ryukyu Kingdom, but was eventually destroyed. , his wife Baidu Tayang also had a tragic fate, so the Shenglian City ruins is a scenic spot full of historical and cultural charm, worth a visit👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 📍 3807-2 Katsurenhaebaru, Uruma, Okinawa 904-2311 Japan #日本must-go check-in point #overseas travel #travel #weekend travel #japan travel #japanese attractions

It is featured in small print in tourist books, but there are relatively few tourists, so you can take your time looking around. There are slopes and stairs from the parking lot, so it may be difficult for those with weak legs. It is a castle ruin that can be visited for free, but it is quite worth seeing, so I recommend it. ♯trip2023 #wintertrip #greatview #autumntrip

#japanhotel #hot spring hotel #Okinawa what to do in winter #Okinawa Family Hotel #Unparalleled Sea View #Farm Animals #Must Visit I've been to Okinawa so many times, I always thought there was no real hot spring in Okinawa♨️. I went to soak in the underwater energy water before. Recently, I was introduced by a friend in Japan🇯🇵 and found that Okinawa has many leisure facilities suitable for winter. The more rocky, the other is the #hot spring hotel Okinawahotspring we are introducing this time This time this hot spring is really good, my father took a dip and then his feet slipped. He said it was very effective and asked me to book a second time soon 😂😂 It rained 🌧 when I went there for the first time, but this time it was finally nice 😆☀️ In addition to soaking in hot springs, the hotel also has many #children-friendly rides. There is also a large park, and there are puppies🐶 so that you can pull the leash to experience dog walking😆 For those of us who do not keep small animals, finally satisfied Tongtong's own wish to let the dog 😁 There are also rabbits and goats can feed 🌿🐐🐰, and #giant big thousand autumn, facing the unbeatable sea view🌊, swinging up like flying into the sky☁️☀️🌈 super fun The hotel also offers Roller roller skates and electric cars for rent, as well as free table tennis and children's playground, and #free massage chairs. The hot spring hotel itself includes one night and two meals, the night meal is a buffet of all-you-can-eat barbecue 🔥🥓🥩😍😍 with my favorite beef ribs all-you-can-eat, the next day's breakfast is also a buffet breakfast. The hot spring can also be soaked until 11 o'clock, there are indoor and indoor hot spring, suitable for me after throwing the children to sleep and then secretly out to soak in the hot spring 😆😆👩🏻, or 6:00 in the morning and can get up early and soak again 😂😂 There is also a free hot spring foot bath outside the hotel, and I think I can come and walk even if I don’t stay at the hotel. Or you can buy a hot spring package alone without staying in a hotel, or rent a private bath for your family to soak. The price is of course a little expensive, but the view is very beautiful😆. It's really suitable for winter parent-child activities, Tong Tong Xin Xin 👧🏻🧒🏻 both love to soak in hot springs ♨️ Details 🔎 can be seen here 👇🏻 AJ Resort Island Ikeijima 〒904-2421 Okinawa City Yonajo Ike 1286 Remember to follow and like our post to stay up to date with the latest #Okinawa Parent-Child Travel Information Itinerary

Visited in December 2022 *Amawari Park One of the main facilities There is a historical and cultural facility 😊 Not only were there exhibits on the excavated items from the World Heritage site of Katsuren Castle, and the history and culture of Uruma City, centered around the Katsuren Castle ruins, but we also enjoyed a live performance that told the story of Amawari, the 10th head of Katsuren Castle, with dynamic acting ✨ #tripmemory2022#Okinawa #OkinawaTrip #OkinawaTourism #KatsurenCastleRuins

Visited in December 2022 *Katsuren Castle Ruins Katsuren Castle is known as the castle of Amawari, who resisted the Ryukyu Kingdom✨ In November 2000, it was registered as a World Heritage Site along with Shuri Castle Ruins, and it is the oldest of the five gusuku sites registered at that time😊 The "Ichino Kuruwa" at the top has a great view, and you can see Nakagusuku Bay and the underwater road below. It's the best view🙌 #tripmemory2022#Okinawa #OkinawaTrip #OkinawaTourism #KatsurenCastleRuins

#Japan Attractions #I was surprised to see a giant ax 🪓😳 #It turned out to be an attraction # By the way you can take pictures of the series The creativity of the Japanese is really interesting and exaggerated. Maybe seeing that the place is very big and nothing to put, they make an ax for you to check in 😝 So they managed to attract us to get off the car 🚗 Giant ax location: Restored ruins 〒904-2421 Okinawa Prefecture Yonajo Ichi The hot spring hotel is about 3 minutes away from the big ax 🪓 drive without washing to arrive, except the big ax, inside there are some historical ruins there, nothing more than thatched hut 🛖 well, etc., not much to see, but free admission, if passing by can come to take pictures. But if it weren't for the big ax, I wouldn't get off the car 😂😂, proving that the big ax can be seen and placed, attracting many tourists, very practical.
