When you're in Fukuoka, there's so much more to do than just eating and shopping—you absolutely cannot miss the zoo experiences here! On this trip, we not only visited the Fukuoka City Zoological & Botanical Garden right in the heart of the city, but we also booked the incredible Jungle Bus tour at Kyushu Natural Animal Park African Safari. It was the perfect way to enjoy two totally different types of wildlife adventures! 🤩 1️⃣ The Ultimate Thrill! The Jungle Bus Experience 🚌🦁🦓 This was hands down the highlight of the trip! We essentially became the ones being "observed" while the animals roamed freely right outside our windows. We were surrounded by herds of deer and zebras, and we could even feed them directly through the bus windows—the proximity was unreal! We also spotted a family of rhinos lounging on the grass and a majestic pride of lions. Some were cooling off in the shade, others were letting out big yawns, and we even saw some resting behind the rocks. It was such a peaceful yet awe-inspiring sight! This kind of close encounter with wildlife is something both kids and adults will absolutely love! 2️⃣ Pure Serenity! Fukuoka City Zoological & Botanical Garden 🐒🌿 In contrast to the excitement of the Safari, the Fukuoka City Zoological & Botanical Garden offers a much more laid-back vibe. The park is beautifully designed, featuring a "cute animal" area where you can observe otters and capybaras up close, along with many rare birds and primates. Strolling through the lush, green grounds while watching the animals is incredibly relaxing. It’s a perfect spot for families and a great place to snap some photos! 💡 Travel Tips Jungle Bus Reservations: The Jungle Bus is extremely popular, so I highly recommend booking in advance on their official website to avoid long waits or finding out tickets are sold out. Transportation: The Fukuoka City Zoological & Botanical Garden is very accessible via subway. To get to African Safari, it's best to rent a car or join a local day tour. Timing: If you want to visit both in one day, plan for a full day. Start with African Safari in the morning and head back to the city for the Zoological & Botanical Garden in the afternoon. Ready for an animal adventure? Make sure to add both of these spots to your Fukuoka itinerary! ✈️🇯🇵

📝 My Thoughts Oita Prefecture is filled with iconic Japanese shrines, hot spring resorts, and beautiful nature. This time, I enjoyed a classic Oita itinerary, visiting the historic Usa Jingu Shrine, the steam-filled city of Beppu, and the soothing hot spring town of Yufuin. ⛩️ Usa Jingu Shrine The head shrine of approximately 40,000 Hachiman shrines across Japan. Its vast grounds are enveloped in a solemn atmosphere, and just walking down the approach to the main hall brings a sense of peace. It’s also famous for its unique worship etiquette: "two bows, four claps, one bow." The designated National Treasure main hall and the beautiful vermilion pavilions are spectacular. It’s a must-visit spiritual power spot when traveling to Oita. ♨️ Beppu Onsen A hot spring city boasting the largest number of hot spring sources and the highest yield of hot spring water in Japan. Plumes of steam rising throughout the city create a landscape unique to Beppu. On the "Jigoku Meguri" (Hell Tour), you can see incredibly unique hot springs like the Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell) and Chinoike Jigoku (Blood Pond Hell), while enjoying hot spring-boiled eggs and "Jigoku-mushi" (hell-steamed) delicacies. Soaking in the hot springs to soothe the fatigue of the trip was an extraordinary experience. 🌿 Yufuin A highly popular hot spring resort that is perfect for a leisurely stroll. Yunotsubo Street is lined with stylish cafes, boutique shops, and sweet shops, making it exciting just to wander around. At the town's symbol, Lake Kinrin, you might even catch a magical view of the morning mist hovering over the water. Spending time gazing at Mount Yufu felt truly luxurious. 🌴 Must-Try Local Gourmet in Oita 🥩 Bungo Beef 🐔 Toriten (Chicken Tempura) 🍮 Jigoku-mushi (Hell-steamed) Pudding 🍡 Dango-jiru (Dumpling Soup) 🐟 Seki Aji & Seki Saba (Premium Horse Mackerel and Mackerel) 🍰 Yufuin Sweets 📷 Best Photo Spots 📸 The vermilion pavilions of Usa Jingu Shrine 📸 The rising steam of Beppu 📸 The Hell Tour (Jigoku Meguri) 📸 Lake Kinrin 📸 Yunotsubo Street 📸 Mount Yufu 🌟 Summary 👉 "Historic shrines, famous hot springs, and breathtaking nature. Oita is packed with charms that will heal both your body and soul." If it's your first time in Oita, Usa Jingu Shrine, Beppu, and Yufuin are absolute must-visit spots. 🔥 Final Word 👉 "I absorbed spiritual energy at Usa Jingu Shrine, relaxed in Beppu Onsen, and felt completely at peace strolling through Yufuin. It was the ultimate trip to fully experience the magic of Oita!" ♨️⛩️🌿✨📸💕🍮

If you're visiting Beppu or Yufuin in Oita Prefecture near Fukuoka, you absolutely must check out the Kyushu Natural Animal Park. While Japan has plenty of zoos, what sets this one apart is the ability to drive your own car through the safari zones. Seeing animals walk right past your window is a truly unique and rare experience. 🚗🦁 The park opens at 9:00 AM, and I'd recommend getting there early. You have to book your Jungle Bus slot as soon as you enter; I arrived just after 10:00 AM and was already booked for the 3:00 PM slot! In the meantime, feel free to explore the walking areas. You'll find plenty of animals like miniature horses, capybaras, and hamsters. There are various dining options available too—I highly recommend the burgers from the food truck, they're delicious! 🍔 I suggest doing a self-drive tour first to see the animals up close from your car. Then, when your scheduled bus time arrives, hop on the Jungle Bus for a chance to feed the animals yourself, including black bears, lions, deer, and elephants. 🦒🍎 You can easily spend an entire day here. Whether you're a family with kids or a couple on a date, I highly recommend a visit. Driving yourself definitely adds to the adventure!

🦒 Kyushu Natural Animal Park (African Safari|Kyushu Natural Animal Park) On the second-to-last day of the trip, we set off early from the hotel to visit Kyushu Natural Animal Park. The weather was fantastic that day, with blue skies and white clouds, making the entire trip feel especially relaxing. Our family of four chose to drive ourselves into the park, which is truly the most convenient option for families with kids. If you opt for the self-driving mode to explore the animal area, the whole experience takes about 60–90 minutes, allowing you to leisurely observe lions, giraffes, zebras, and other large animals up close. The kids were thrilled throughout the visit. 📌 Friendly Reminder 🔔 During the self-driving tour, you cannot open car windows or feed the animals yourself. The safety rules are quite strict. If you want to experience feeding the animals, make sure to choose the Jungle Bus, led by staff members. It's safe and fun, and kids especially love it. 🚗🚍 How to get to the park (Practical Guide) 🚙 Self-driving (Highly Recommended) From Beppu/Yufuin: Approximately 30–40 minutes The park has a large parking lot Ideal for families and those traveling with kids 👉 Flexible and easy to manage time 🚆 Public Transportation (Non-driving option) From Beppu Station, take the Kamenoi Bus Route: Beppu Station → (about 50–60 minutes) → African Safari After getting off, you can walk to the entrance 📌 Note: Bus schedules are not very frequent, so check the timetable in advance The journey is longer, which might be tiring for kids 🚌 Guided Tours or Private Car Some travel agencies in Beppu/Yufuin offer one-day tours or private car services Suitable for travelers who prefer not to plan transportation themselves 👨👩👧👧 Family Summary Self-driving is the most comfortable and efficient option Jungle Bus is a highlight for kids Blue skies and good weather add extra points ⭐ A must-visit safari park in Kyushu, especially for families with kids. [Hotel AZ Ajimu] Although this is a business hotel, it was formerly a tourist hotel, so the rooms are relatively spacious and comfortable. ✨ The building itself is a little dated, but it was well-maintained and I didn't experience any inconveniences during my stay. The surrounding area is rich in nature, dotted with wineries and campgrounds, and there are few tourist facilities or convenience stores within walking distance. On the flip side, it's very quiet at night, making it a great environment for those looking for a peaceful rest. ⭐️ There are two restaurants on site! The family restaurant "Joyfull" and the shabu-shabu specialty restaurant "Onyasai" are a great comfort. Being able to eat without going outside is a welcome feature in Ajimu, where car travel is essential. 🍽️ The "Usa City Ajimu Onsen Center" is located on the same premises, and is connected by a covered walkway. ♨️ Famous for its beneficial, warming waters, bathing tickets are distributed to guests. ☝️ Note: As of January 2026, the facility will be operating using boiled water due to pump failure. The parking lot is spacious and Wi-Fi is free. Located about a 5-minute drive from downtown Ajimu, this inn is ideal for splitting your dining and lodging schedules. 🚗 For those who prioritize quiet and peace of mind over newness and convenient location. I felt that the "nowhere" aspect of this inn allowed for a relaxing stay. 😊 [Access] 1046-1 Shimoge, Ajimu-cho, Usa City, Oita Prefecture About 25 minutes from Usa IC. 🚗 #Ajimu #HotelAZAjimu #UsaCity #OitaTrip

I enjoyed a soft-shelled turtle course for lunch at Takimien in Ajimu-cho, Usa City, Oita Prefecture. ♪ Located right next to Higashi-Shiiya Falls, one of Japan's 100 best waterfalls, the restaurant's natural surroundings are a real draw. ✨ With a soft-shelled turtle farm on-site, the freshness is guaranteed. Every dish is carefully prepared, and the quality of the ingredients is clearly evident. 🐢 Soft-shelled turtle is often associated with collagen and nutritional value, but this dish is completely unobtrusive and easy to eat. 👍 The sashimi was chewy, and the flavor unfolded with every bite. 😋 The deep-fried turtle was fragrant and juicy, truly bringing out the deliciousness of the soft-shelled turtle. The blood instantly warmed my body. ✨ The hot pot concluded with rice porridge, leaving me feeling satisfied from start to finish. The entire course was highly complete, and I truly felt like I'd savored a nutritious meal. In addition to soft-shelled turtle, they also offer a wide variety of river fish dishes, including local chicken🐔, duck hotpot🦆, eel, and yamame trout. The soft-shelled turtle course is ¥7,800, and the hotpot only is ¥3,800—a very reasonable price considering the menu.💰 Enjoy nutritious cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. As I stepped into the old Bungo Mori Roundhouse area, the view before me made me wonder if I had entered the world of anime 😌😌 1⃣️ The old Bungo Mori Roundhouse 🚂, surrounded by a small museum. At the center, there's now a white door from 'Suzume no Tojimari', and next to it, a broken-down figure of Sota. 2⃣️ Usa Shrine ⛩️, which covers a vast area. Walking through the forest in the middle, it becomes even more dazzling under the sunset glow. 3⃣️ The sunset at Matama Beach 🌇. I was incredibly lucky to witness such a beautiful sunset, marking the perfect end to the day's journey 😌

📍 3 nights 4 days Fukuoka travel itinerary You can enjoy various small cities nearby during your trip to Fukuoka, but I went to Fukuoka city and some parts of Beppu and Yufuin with my child. ✨️ Day 1 (Hakata trip, Oriental Hotel Hakata) Arrive in Japan around 3 o'clock > Pick up rental car and check in > Amu Plaza shopping > Kiwamiya hamburger On the first day, I started my trip lightly by visiting the Amu Plaza Pokemon Center with my son who is crazy about Pokemon and eating Fukuoka's signature dish, Kiwamiya hamburger. ✨️ Day 2 (Beppu/Yufuin trip, Baien Garden Resort) After breakfast, we went to Beppu > African Safari > Yufuin > Ryokan I went to African Safari, one of the most anticipated travel destinations. There are two ways to view it: by safari car or by private vehicle, but I used my private vehicle. After that, I had a late lunch at Yufuin's famous restaurant Yufu Mabushishin, and after sightseeing in Yufuin, I spent the evening at a ryokan with kaiseki and hot spring bathing. ✨️ Day 3 (Tenjin trip, Cross Life Hakata) After breakfast, I went to Tenjin > Canal City Hakata > Lalaport > Yakiniku Koushi Dinner > Don Quijote I went to Fukuoka's representative shopping malls and ate delicious food. Personally, I was satisfied with the cost-effective Yakiniku Koushi Umakase that I had for dinner. ✨️ Day 4 (Return) I had a brunch near the hotel and returned home There was a famous restaurant Sabataro near the hotel where I could have breakfast, but for my son who doesn't eat fish well, I had gyukatsu at Akamiya Koushi and returned home. #Travel itinerary #Japan travel #Fukuoka travel #Fukuoka travel itinerary #Fukuoka 3 nights 4 days

[Family Travel Village Anshin-in] It's peaceful❤️ We stayed in a cottage in the countryside and enjoyed nature⭐️ You can rent a barbecue set for 1,210 yen, so we had a barbecue on the terrace🥩 We bought a food set from a local butcher, and the meat and vegetables we grilled over charcoal were exceptional! The shiitake mushrooms, a specialty of Oita, were especially thick and fragrant💕 There is a kitchen in the cottage, so you can make snacks and midnight meals♪ There are cooking utensils and dishes, and the refrigerator is large💡 The place to sleep is up the stairs to the second floor. It has a big loft-like atmosphere and is exciting🎵 There is a door on the second floor that leads out to a small balcony where you can enjoy the view. The bare countryside scenery was soothing. We were given a ticket to the hot spring center♨️, but it is quite far away (800m), so we used the shower room in the cottage. Glamping is nice in a beautiful, well-equipped place, but staying in a traditional cottage is also recommended❤️ Air conditioning and Wi-Fi are available👍 There is a fine winery and sports facilities on the premises. Cottage accommodation 16,500 yen (same price for up to 6 people) Facility usage fee 210 yen 📍Location: 1046 Shimoge, Anjimu-cho, Usa-shi, Oita There are few buses, and it takes about 30 minutes by taxi from Usa Station, so it's easier to rent a car at Oita Airport🚗 #Family Travel Village Anjimu #Anjimu #Oita Trip #Cottage Accommodation #Barbecue #100 Travel Styles

📍 Kyushu Zoo Admission ticket including Jungle Bus: ¥3600 (~hkd217) I personally think this zoo is worth visiting! You can feed various animals that are usually out of reach, including lions. You can touch the more docile animals. Although you can't go to Africa to see the great animal migration, this has satisfied me🥹. As the largest wildlife park in Japan, there are wildlife areas and small animal communication areas in the park. You need to take the jungle bus to the wildlife area. The small animal communication area is more concentrated. After getting off the bus at the zoo, you will go directly to the ticket office. You can buy tickets for the jungle bus. After waiting for a while, you can get on the jungle bus. When getting on the bus, each group will be distributed with a portion of food to feed the animals. Most of the people on the bus are Japanese, only we are Hong Kong people😂. I can't understand Japanese at all, but I follow what others feed. I feel like I am in Jurassic Park when I drive. In fact, there are two sturdy iron nets and plastic sheets on the car for super protection. It's not that the animals are trapped in the cage, but we are trapped in the car. It's very interesting. The first stop is the more docile antelope. Everyone is already very excited. Then it's the black bear! ! ! : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : If you like small animals, you must come ✨ #GlobalTravel #100TravelWays #JapanTravel #Japan #FukuokaAttractions #FukuokaItinerary

The children's long-awaited trip 🦒🦓🐘🦘🦘 We drove from Oita Prefecture at 08:45 in the morning Arrive at the zoo around 09:00 There are already 20 cars in front of me😨 The zoo opens at 09:30 The queue was slow and took about 20-25 minutes Finally bought the 12:50 Jungle bus Let's drive into the park once I saw many animals moving freely up close The advantage of driving into the park is that you can park at any time Look at the animals and take pictures (of course there is no car following behind before stopping). However the animals know that there is no food in these private cars Can't walk too close Then we went to feed the small animals Buy carrots at your own expense to feed the horse Watch the kangaroo 🦘 touch the rabbit 🐇 feed the gold 𢇁𤠣🐒 Holding a guinea pig 🐹 also has a 🐱🐶 cat and dog experience pavilion... Then go to the restaurant in the park for lunch It's ramen 🍜 curry rice 🍛 dumplings 🥟 etc Taste normal buffet form of restaurants There is also a souvenir shop next to it where you can walk and buy After eating and walking, the time is just right Time to take the Jungle bus The leader first briefly explains what animals are fed with different foods It doesn't matter if you don't understand. There will be pictures to compare I fed lions 🦁 big black bears, elephants 🐘 camels 🐪 that day Also saw zebra 🦓 giraffe 🦒 bell sheep 🐐. Saw the animals rushing around the jungle bus It feels very different from self-guiding You can interact with the animals on the Jungle bus Kids are happy and excited is another kind of memorable experience #JapanTravel #FukuokaDrivingTour #Kyushu Zoo 🦁Kyushu Natural Zoo🐯 📍Japan〒872-0722 Oita, Usa, Ajimumachi Minamihata, 2−1755-1

Kyushu Natural Animal Park is located in Oita Prefecture and is an ultra-large wildlife park covering an area of 1.15 million square meters. In the "Wildlife Area" of the park, you can see lions, black bears, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, cheetahs, elephants, and more than 20 other species of animals up close. In addition to driving into the park by themselves, visitors can also take the animal-shaped "Jungle Bus" to the wildlife area. It takes about an hour to go around the park, passing through the black bear and alpine animal area, lion area, herbivore area, tiger area, cheetah area, and antelope area in sequence. The driver will even stop at spots where animals gather so that everyone can feed them! On the bus, you can watch the wild animals' every move from a very close distance, which is very thrilling. 📍Address: Minamihata, Anshinin-cho, Usa City, Oita Prefecture #Zoo #100 Ways to Travel

On this self-drive trip, we traveled from Fukuoka to Yufuin, enjoying the beautiful natural scenery along the way. The roads were not crowded, making the drive very comfortable. However, traveling with children can be challenging due to the long distances, so it's best to plan a stop at an attraction to stretch and take a break. That's why we included a visit to the Kuju Natural Zoological Park midway. The zoo is easy to find, and the animals are mostly free-roaming in their natural habitats, not confined to cages. The best way to tour is by vehicle. You can either take the park's sightseeing bus to view and feed the animals or drive your own car through the park, but you must keep the windows closed. We chose the latter, so we'll have to wait until next time to see the lions and tigers up close. The park wasn't too crowded when we visited, so even with self-driving, there was no traffic congestion. After seeing the savannah animals, you can also visit the indoor salon to pet dogs or cats, and for an additional fee, feed the ponies. These activities are separate from the car tour but offer a full experience, and the kids had a lot of fun. Petting the cats is not highly recommended, as they were mostly sleeping, and we didn't want to disturb them; it's better to just watch from a distance. Overall, the zoo offers great value for money and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend a visit! Address: Ajimumachi Minamihata, Usa, Oita 872-0722, Japan

➡️: Kyushu Natural Zoo 📍: 2-1755-1, Usa City, Oita, Fukuoka ⏰: March to October 09:00 am to 4:30 pm; November to February 10:00 am to 4:00 pm In addition to wild animals, Kyushu Natural Zoo also has another area that introduces smaller, less wild, and protected animals‼ ️ Here are rabbits🐰, rats (Hamtaro)🐹, donkeys🫏, horses🐎, macaques🐒, mongooses (Timon) and kangaroos🦘~ If the small animals in this area are not dangerous/not trapped in cages, you can touch them at will~~ Be careful⚠️ not to get bitten~ In the rabbit area, you can pick up the rabbit and sit it on your thighs to touch it~ They are all very tame~~ There are animals enclosed in cages, such as mongoose~ They must live in a constant temperature box, so tourists should not reach out❌👋🏼 to disturb them, just let them live well~ What’s more funny is that there are a bunch of kangaroos who belong to the scammers🦘 here, they directly block the road to beg for food, very cunning🤣 For the donkeys and horses, you can buy carrots🥕 from the staff and feed them. If the children are not overweight, they can also ride them under the arrangement of the staff~ Very good experience‼ ️ You must take your children to this kind of zoo to teach them how to protect animals~ The earth🌍is not for humans~😅 The scenery in the park is also charming😍, and there are endless maple leaves in autumn🍁, so you don’t have to worry about the crowds outside~~|🥰 #Zoo #Good Place for Parents and Children #Fukuoka Attractions

#OitaTourism A waterfall located deep in the mountains of Usa City, Oita Prefecture. It may not be very famous nationwide, but the height of the waterfall, the volume of water, and the pool at the bottom are quite impressive. It's about a 20-minute walk from the parking lot, and there is a promenade, so even the elderly and children can go there without difficulty. When you see it up close, it's so big that the whole waterfall doesn't fit in a photo. The pool at the bottom is deep, so don't swim there by mistake. Obviously, it's in a remote area, so avoid heavy rainfall days and plan your visit taking into account sunset times. #777

This time I want to introduce the zoo that is suitable for both men, women and children. Its biggest selling point is that you can drive your own car🚗 into the park and see wild animals up close It's like going to see the Asian version of the Great Animal Migration🐅🐆🦓🐘🦬🐫🐑 The scenery in the park is stunning, I guarantee you won't regret it, seeing a large section of hills, and many different breeds of animals, such as: lions, tigers, giraffes, elephants, camels, sika deer, etc... If you are not driving, you can join the tour bus 🚌 provided by the park It can feed animals, which is very stimulating On the contrary, if you drive, you can't feed, you can't open the windows and doors throughout, but you can stop and watch the animals, decide your own viewing time, and you can rent a CD player to guide the explanation (I personally think you can not rent a CD player, CD players are a bit old and often broken) 📍Location: Kyushu Natural Zoo, Japan #familygoods #overseastravel #japantravel #fukuoka #kyushu attractions #zoo #safari #drivetour #hkblogger #hongkongfoodie

Usa Jingū, also known as Usa Hachimangū, is a Shinto shrine in the city of Usa in Ōita Prefecture, Japan. Emperor Ojin, who was deified as Hachiman-jin, is said to enshrine the entire place dedicated to him. On top of it stands a large tree that can be hugged by several people, providing shade. The Japanese say that this tree is hundreds of years old. It is also said to be very sacred. A female idol from a Japanese group once prayed for a position at the top of her group. Her wish came true. As a result, the tree is just as famous as the shrine. In addition to the shrine and the tree, there are also prayer tablets in the area. It is truly a shrine for making wishes.

Usa Shrine in Oita Prefecture Of the 110,000 shrines in Japan, over 40,600 are Hachiman shrines. Usa Shrine is the head shrine of all of them. It is famous not only for worship but also as a tourist spot. Please note that the proper way to worship is two bows, four claps, one bow. There is also a couple's stone, which is said to bring happiness if a couple holds hands and steps on the stones on either side, so be sure to look for it 👩‍❤️‍👨 The gourmet food in the shopping district is also recommended.
