Even if I'd recommend to anyone to spend more time in this incredible city, I'm well aware that many don't have the time or budget to do so, for this reason I put together the perfect 24h Venice itinerary in hopes that everyone gets to enjoy this city that I love! You can see the main highlights of Venice in 24 hours by following a smart walking route that covers St. Mark’s Square, the Grand Canal, and hidden local neighborhoods, there's no time to avoid the touristy spots so you'll encounter some crowds, planning during the right time of the year is crucial (avoid the summer if possible!)!! Morning: The Heart of Venice 8am – Piazza San Marco: Start early to enjoy St. Mark's Square and St. Mark's Basilica before the heavy crowds arrive. 9:30am – Doge’s Palace: Walk next door to explore the historic Doge's Palace and cross the famous Bridge of Sighs (book tickets online in advance to avoid queueing!) 11:30am – Rialto Bridge: Stroll through the narrow alleys toward the iconic Rialto Bridge and look at the nearby fresh food market, it's the perfect spot to buy food related souvenirs! Afternoon: Canals and Views 1pm – Lunch & Vaporetto: Grab a quick, budget-friendly Venetian panino or bite to eat, then hop on an ACTV Vaporetto (water bus) to cruise down the magnificent Grand Canal. 3pm – Dorsoduro or a Secret Viewpoint: Walk through the quieter arts district of Dorsoduro, or climb the spiral stairs at Scala Contarini del Bovolo for a cheap, stunning view over the city roofs. 5pm – Gondola Ride: Take a traditional gondola ride through the smaller, peaceful side canals. Campo dell'Arsenale sits between St Mark's and Castello – central, but quiet. The square has so much going on. A big canal – the entrance to the Arsenal – runs through it. Two stone watch towers stand on either side. A wooden bridge arches over the water, simple and beautiful. An old military building rises behind it, guarded by stone lions. One of them is the Piraeus Lion, a Greek statue from the 4th century BC, with runic inscriptions carved by Viking mercenaries. History you can touch. The Porta da Terra gate is Venice's first Renaissance building. The Arsenal is still a military zone, but the square itself feels calm and welcoming. And then there are the cafes. Sit down, order a coffee, and watch the boats drift past. This is Venice without the crowds. It's quiet, it's beautiful, and it's one of the most special squares in Venice. This small cove, seemingly hidden among the rocks, changes color constantly depending on the sunlight. In the morning, the water appears a lighter blue, while later in the day, it can transform into an almost emerald green. 🌊 The coves around Cala di Volpe look completely different when explored by boat. Views that are beautiful from the shore become postcard-perfect when seen from the sea. ✨ My favorite thing about Costa Smeralda is that it is not limited to the idea of a “luxury holiday.” With its small villages, natural rock formations, Mediterranean-scented vegetation, and hidden coves, it is also possible to experience a quieter side of Sardinia. 💡 A little tip: If you visit the region, do not stay only in Porto Cervo. Explore the small coves and coastal roads that may look insignificant on the map. Visiting Venice was an absolute dream, and taking a classic gondola ride was worth every single euro. There is nothing quite like the feeling of drifting down the quiet, hidden canals and out into the sweeping waters of the Venetian Lagoon.The architecture looks completely different from the water level. Free to walk the island; the museum is optional. Tram 12/20 to Malostranské náměstí, then 4 min. The “Venice” nickname is earned at dusk: green water, brick mills, and the castle lit across the main river. Mistake: I rented a pedal boat at 60 CZK/min from the north tip—wasteful, the canal is 400 m long. Walk it, don’t boat it. Aso (阿蘇市) Next up: Aso! 🌋 The Aso caldera is an insane sight—massive, otherworldly, and absolutely iconic. Takachiho (高千穂町) This place is straight-up mythical! Takachiho Gorge is like walking through a fantasy anime—towering cliffs and waterfalls. Row a boat under Manai Falls (so Insta-ready).
