#Overseas Travel A visit to the National Trust's Baois Castle and Gardens in Wales was a magical experience filled with history and natural beauty. Upon arrival, I was struck by the grandeur of the old castle with its magnificent architecture and panoramic views of the stunning landscape. I wandered through the historic rooms decorated with ancient furniture and rare art paintings. I enjoyed walking through the beautiful gardens with terraces adorned with a variety of flowers and beautiful statues. I climbed up the surrounding hills for a stunning view of the Welsh countryside. This visit was a rich experience of culture and natural beauty and will remain an unforgettable memory in my heart.

My Solo Itinerary: A Day of Opulent Wandering 10:30 AM - Treasures from Afar I started indoors with the castle itself. The moment you step inside, the world shifts. This isn't just a historic home; it's a museum of the Clive of India collection. I wandered, wide-eyed, through rooms filled with Mughal treasures, exquisite ivory, and golden artifacts. As a solo visitor, I could spend 20 minutes staring at a single miniature painting or the carved ceiling in the State Bedroom, with no one to rush me along. 1. 00 PM - A Picnic with a Panorama I’d packed a lunch, and the grounds provided the perfect setting. I found a bench on the iconic Baroque terraces, my feet resting on centuries-old turf, with the castle rising behind me and the Severn Valley stretching out below. It was a solo dining experience fit for a lord or lady. 2. 30 PM - A Garden of Many Worlds The afternoon was for the world-famous gardens. I descended the terraces, past dripping yews and vibrant borders. I then got blissfully lost in the Wild Garden, a woodland paradise of rhododendrons and quiet corners. The beauty of going solo was the freedom to follow any path that caught my eye, discovering hidden statues and the tranquil orangery all on my own. Recently, they had a free event in partnership with "In Your Area," so I chose Powis Castle, which was within a 2-hour drive from where I was. This place isn't huge, and while there are many small hills around, they are all private property, so you can only explore the Castle and its Gardens – no hiking outside the grounds. Getting There: By Train: Get off at Welshpool station, then it's about a 30-minute walk. By Car: You can drive directly to the Castle's parking lot, and there are plenty of spaces available. 🚗 Tickets: The Ticket Office is right next to the parking lot where you can pick up maps. Even for free tickets (like the one from the partnership), you need to scan your QR code there to exchange it for an actual ticket. Immerse in History #waleshistory and visit the amazing Powis Castle. ##walestravel Make sure you have the time to admire the Clive Museum, have a stop at the coffee shop (seat outdoors, weather permitting) and take in the view. Then walk down to the gardens, beautiful at the time of visit (late July) but I guess they would be fantastic at any time of the year! During the summer, garden games are enjoyed by young and not-so young visitors, with plenty of space for everybody to enjoy.
