This is a popular Yunnan-style rice noodle concept that we chanced upon in Yulin area in Chengdu, and this stall had a steady flow of people throughout our visit. The place itself has a very casual, local street-side setup. There’s an indoor counter area, but most of the experience spills outdoors — low stools and small tables lined along the roadside, with people sitting shoulder to shoulder as clay pots arrive steaming from the kitchen. It’s the kind of setup where you’re basically eating right in the flow of the street, which adds to the atmosphere. In mid-to-late September, the rapeseed flowers are still finishing blooming, so go early to catch a golden expanse, and the air is filled with the scent of pollen. 📍 The rapeseed flower fields of Ji'an are located along the Yalu River. Just walk along the riverbank and you'll see vast fields of flowers. The entrance fee is reasonable, and students get an additional 50% discount. The Koguryo relics are located south of the city center. A taxi ride costs around ten RMB. Don't believe the "day trip" offers on the street; you can easily explore on your own. 🍜 Lunch is in Ji'an city center. Cold noodles and barbecue are the standard fare, and you can eat your fill for about 30 RMB per person. ⚠️ The Goguryeo ruins close at 4 PM. Don't arrive right on time; there's plenty of walking space inside, so allow at least two hours. ⏰ In the morning, see the flower fields first—the light is soft, perfect for photos without backlighting. Then visit the historical sites in the afternoon; the route is convenient and efficient. But there are ways to travel on a budget. 🚄 Take the high-speed train to Shangrao Station. There are shuttle buses to Sanqingshan and Wuyuan right outside the station, half the price of hiring a car. It darkens as the sun rises. There's a sightseeing bus along the corridor for 20 yuan round trip; don't skimp on it, as walking the entire way is too far, and you'll want to turn back halfway. 📍 At the end of the corridor, there's a viewing tower. Climbing it offers a better view of the boundary between the reed beds and the red beach, with much better photo opportunities than from the ground. For accommodation, choose a chain hotel in Xinglongtai District for around 100 yuan; it's close to the scenic area bus station. 04 Baoding City | Hebei Province The Western Qing Tombs, Baishi Mountain, Yesanpo, and Baiyangdian Lake in Anxin County are scattered in different directions from Baoding, requiring a two-day, one-night trip that you'll have to reluctantly cut back on. Let me prioritize them for you. 🚄 Take the high-speed train from Beijing to Baoding East Station; the fastest journey is 40 minutes, perfect for a weekend trip. The Western Qing Tombs are in Yi County; the architectural complex is much quieter than the Eastern Qing Tombs, and the stone carvings and glazed tiles are exceptionally well-preserved. Those who love ancient architecture will be captivated. 📍 Baishi Mountain is in Laiyuan County. Its glass walkway is its signature feature, but those with a fear of heights shouldn't attempt it. A walk around the foot of the mountain also offers panoramic views of the peaks. Yesanpo is more suitable for families with children; the rafting and caves will keep kids entertained, and adults can cool off. ⚠️ I advise against visiting Baiyangdian Lake in autumn.
