2024 Bangkok Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in October)
Energetic, chaotic, and majestic, these are just a few words that come to mind when describing Bangkok. The heart and capital of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the most sprawling and metropolitan cities in Asia, and a popular gateway into the country. A city that has deeply rooted traditions and cosmopolitan attitudes, Bangkok has abundant cultural fascinations to captivate travelers from all over the world.Located close to the Gulf of Thailand, Bangkok is a city of waterways with the Chao Phraya River flowing through it. Back in the 19th century, as most of the city’s residents lived near or on the water, the city is known as the “Venice of the East.” While the history of Bangkok dates back about 600 years, it didn’t become the capital city until the 18th century. Through trade and commerce, the city expanded to its current scale. Today tourism is one of the major sources of revenue in Bangkok. With a tropical monsoon climate, the capital is hot and humid year-round. The most pleasant months to visit are from November to March when the heat and humidity are at their lowest. But this also means crowds are at their peak in late Fall and Winter, and this is particularly true around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. If you don’t mind the monsoon season, July and August are the off-peak seasons where many good deals are available on hotels and flights. There are so many first-rate scenic spots on offer in Bangkok, it is impossible to see them all if you only have a few days. For major tourist attractions in Bangkok, most are historical or religious sites. Make sure you admire the amazing architectural design of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, pay homage to the sacred Jade Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) or the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), or cruise past the temples and mansions on the Chao Phraya River (River of Kings). It is worth noting that, as many sites are sacred, there are strict rules which all visitors must follow. For instance, dress codes at the Grand Palace and various temples, men must wear long pants, shirts with sleeves, and no bare feet are permitted. Women must wear modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders.

Vintage Vibes Night Market 🤩
Are you a fan of vintage stuff? If so, I highly recommend you to make a trip to this Srinagarindra train night market in Bangkok. Although its a bit further away from the city centre, this train market is unique with its on twist of vintage toys and collections. To all those collectors, it will be a toy heaven for them as there are so many collectibles to see :)

Bankok street food is delicious 🌭
#eatlikealocal
Bangkok street food is honestly a paradise for foodies like me! The moment I stepped into the bustling streets of Sukhumvit and Khao San Road, the vibrant aromas of grilled meats, spices, and sizzling woks hit me. Every corner offers something different, from pad thai to mango sticky rice, and the best part? Most dishes cost between 30-60 THB ($1-2), so it’s super affordable to try a bit of everything.
One of my favorites was the spicy papaya salad (som tam)—refreshing, spicy, and full of flavor. The grilled satay skewers were also incredible! As I wandered, I discovered hidden gems in Chinatown, which is an absolute must for seafood lovers. After indulging in all the food, I took a quick tuk-tuk ride to the Grand Palace, one of the most iconic attractions nearby. Bangkok’s street food is an adventure in itself, and you really can’t go wrong with anything you try! 🥢🍜🌶️

Bangkok Floating Market
The Bangkok Floating Market is one of the most unique attractions in Thailand. When you visit Wat Phra Kaew, it's convenient to stop by. There are many handicrafts available, and you can also feed the fish, sit by the river, and experience the local lifestyle. It's quite interesting.
Location Name: Khlong Bang Luang Floating Market (ตลาดชุมชนริมคลองบางหลวง)

Night Visit to Wat Suthat
After a full meal, I took a walk and passed by Wat Suthat. I noticed that the temple was still open at night, possibly due to some event, so I decided to go in and take a look. The experience was quite pleasant. I really liked the murals, which had a historical feel and were beautifully painted. The Buddha statues were also very majestic, giving off a very comfortable vibe. It's wonderful to find such tranquility in the middle of a bustling city!
Location Name: Wat Suthat Thep Wararam Ratchaworamahawihan (วัดสุทัศนเทพวรารามราชวรมหาวิหาร)

Experience the Friendly Hospitality of Thailand in Just One Day
Staying at The Quarter is always a great experience. The larger rooms are more like furnished apartments but come with the added amenities of a full-service hotel: excellent international and Thai buffet breakfast, a fully equipped gym and swimming pool, an on-site spa and café, daily room cleaning, and complimentary room supplies replenishment.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
Location - Opposite The Commons food court, close to many delicious restaurants, BTS and MRT stations, just steps away from the expansive Lumpini Park and all the festivities of Silom, yet not overwhelmed by noise and traffic.

With its beautiful interior decor and a variety of shops, restaurants, and cafes, River City has become an ideal destination for leisure time.

🇹🇭 Shopping for Butterbear
#travelshopping #100WaysOfTravel
The favourite bear in Bangkok is Butterbear and you can find her café at Emsphere shopping which is located conveniently at Phrom Phong BTS station. It is a trending bear theme cookies and the Butternear mascot is super popular now. Travel shopping is what I like to do and with the hype with Butterbear, I am here at Empshere to check her out. I did not come early and there was already long queue forming to the cafe. There is also a quota to buy for their merchandise so if you want to buy more then you need to get your friends to queue together with you.

🇹🇭 Kuay Jab Crispy Pork Mr Joe
#eatlikealocal #100WaysOfTravel
Address: 313/7 Chan Rd, Wat Phraya Krai, Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok 10120, Thailand
Opening hours: Everyday except Thursday from 730am to 430pm
One of the reasons why I stay at Capella Bangkok as Kuay Jab Mr Joe is only a short walk away. They are famous for their crispy pork belly and kway chap/kuay Jab like our style but served in stronger peppery soup. You will always see many people standing in front of the store but they are waiting for takeaway. So if you are dining in then you can just walk in a get a seat. The waitress will hand over a menu to you. If you enter from the main entrance, you can see many pork belly and they are so crispy and you want to order more. They are also available for food delivery if you are unable to come over.

Old Town DIY Perfume Experience! Create Your Own Unique Fragrance at Thai Scent and Enjoy the Full Ritual!
While researching travel information about Thailand, I stumbled upon a YouTuber named Xiao Jiang's video, which mentioned a DIY perfume shop in the old town called Thai Scent. I've always had an irresistible love for fragrances, and the idea of creating my own perfume here immediately ignited my excitement. Even better, the experience is quite affordable, and it perfectly fits into my planned old town exploration. So, without hesitation, I added it to my itinerary!
For transportation, I recommend taking the express boat on the Khlong Saen Saep canal to the Panfa Leelard Pier terminal. The one-way ticket costs only THB 14, and the boat ride takes about 15 minutes. From there, it's just a 3-minute walk to Thai Scent, making it very convenient.
Although I tried to make a reservation in advance but failed, I took the boat to the perfume workshop at 10 AM on the day of my visit. When I arrived, I was lucky to find that no one had booked the shop, so I could start my DIY experience right away! The shop actually recommends making a reservation in advance, and I was fortunate to get a spot without one. By the way, you can make reservations through Thai Scent's Facebook page, and the owner speaks Chinese, which is very convenient.
Currently, Thai Scent offers a special experience price of only THB 799, allowing you to create your own 30ml perfume. Once the owner had everything prepared, I began selecting my favorite scents from the myriad of fragrance bottles. The best part is that you can choose freely from top notes, middle notes, and base notes without any restrictions. The shop also provides a detailed DM that introduces each fragrance, making it easy to reference. If your nose gets tired during the selection process, you can smell the coffee beans provided in the shop to reset your senses, which is very thoughtful.
The shop also offers a plate of snacks and water, allowing you to take a break while choosing. However, I was so eager to complete my perfume that I didn't have time to enjoy the snacks and jumped straight into the creation process.
During the selection process, I would drop my preferred scents onto small paper cards, confirm them one by one, and record them on the memo paper provided by the shop. Then, I combined all the selected fragrance cards and smelled the final combination. This moment felt like mixing a magical potion just for myself, filled with a sense of ritual.
The blending process requires adding 90 drops of fragrance into the mixing bottle, then filling it with alcohol up to 30ml, and stirring it evenly. This completes a bottle of unique perfume. The shop also helps print labels and provides various decorative stickers, allowing me to design the bottle beautifully, making me feel like a perfume designer giving the final touch to my creation.
Once everything is designed, the perfume is packed in a delicate box and bag, making the whole process enjoyable and fulfilling. Note that the freshly made perfume should be left to sit for three days to allow the scents to fully blend before use, ensuring the best fragrance experience.
Throughout the experience, the owner frequently checked in and offered assistance, making me feel very warm and welcomed. As I was leaving, she even gave me a 2ml sample perfume, which made me feel very touched and appreciated.
Lastly, the shop also sells various fragrance-related products, so even if you don't participate in the DIY activity, you can still shop for some great items. The overall environment is simple and elegant, with a very comfortable atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed. If you have the chance to visit the old town, be sure to include this shop in your itinerary. Creating your own perfume is perfect for gifts or personal use!
Of course, remember to make a reservation through Facebook in advance to avoid missing out on this wonderful DIY experience!
Exploring the Depths: A Cool Escape at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World
#aquarium #100waysoftravel #bangkok #seaworld
On a scorching day in Bangkok, we sought refuge at SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World, the largest aquarium in Southeast Asia, tucked beneath the bustling Siam Paragon mall. The cool, immersive atmosphere was a perfect escape from the heat, and as we ventured inside, we were immediately captivated by the sheer size and variety of marine life on display. My favorite part of the visit was the thrilling shark exhibit, where we could see these majestic creatures up close as they glided gracefully through the water. Walking through the glass tunnel, it felt as though we were truly submerged in their world. Another highlight was the exciting glass-bottom boat ride, where we floated above the aquarium and watched rays, fish, and even sharks swim beneath our feet. The experience was both exhilarating and calming, offering a unique perspective of the ocean’s beauty. SEA LIFE Bangkok Ocean World provided the perfect combination of adventure and relaxation, making it a memorable and much-needed break from the sweltering heat outside.

Stopped by for coffee at Mother Roaster.
Visited and shared to stories
🚙 Stopped by for coffee at Mother Roaster in Talat Noi, Bangkok.
☕ Mother Roaster is a small coffee shop in the Talat Noi area. The shop is on the second floor with wooden flooring but is air-conditioned and comfortable. In front of the shop, there is street art for you to take pictures with. Once inside, you'll find various car parts.
🐱 When you reach the second floor, you'll be greeted by an adorable orange cat. The interior of the shop has an old house style, but we love the light filtering through the curtains beautifully. We arrived at 10 AM, right when the shop opened.
☕ The taste of the coffee is excellent, with a rich aroma and delicious flavor, made from high-quality coffee beans using the ROK Presso machine, brewed and roasted by Mother, the cool barista of the shop.
⏱️ Open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
ไปมาแล้ว Share to stories Fun-Filled Siam Park Water Park
Siam Park Water Park is full of fun. It takes a 22-minute walk from Nopparat (นพรัตน์) station on the Pink Line subway from downtown Bangkok, but let me tell you, it's totally worth it! The rides are very thrilling, featuring an artificial sea with wave pools, whirlpools, fountains, waterfalls, and towering slides. The weather is really hot, and entering the water park is a perfect way to cool off.
The best part is that we went on a weekday, so it wasn't too crowded and we didn't have to wait in long lines. You can buy swim gear inside, and there are lockers to store your valuables. I absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun-filled day of adventure and excitement. Don't miss the speed slides and spiral slides in the water park. They are absolutely exhilarating! It was a perfect vacation, and I can't wait to go back!
Phra Athit Road Area
The Phra Athit Road area is filled with unique restaurants and cafes. One of the interesting places is 'Khun Dang Guay Jub Yuan,' known for its flavorful Vietnamese noodle soup with soft noodles and aromatic broth, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Next is 'Coconut Culture,' a chill cafe that incorporates coconut into various menu items, including coconut water, ice cream, and desserts, creating refreshing dishes perfect for Bangkok's hot weather.
Additionally, there's the chic coffee shop 'PULSE Bangkok,' which features a modern design and serves high-quality coffee and bakery items. For health enthusiasts, '108 Juices 100% no water no sugar' offers freshly squeezed fruit juices without added water or sugar, ideal for those seeking refreshment and good health. Lastly, 'Thong Nguek Chuan Khanom Buang Mae Prabha' in Bang Lamphu is an old shop that has been selling traditional Thai crispy pancakes for over 100 years. The pancakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a sweet and rich filling, making it a must-visit for dessert lovers.
The least crowded night market in Bangkok.
This night market is now open every day and is one of the best night markets I've ever been to. It's super crowded, but everything else is great. I travel for food, and the food there is amazing. If you get the chance, be sure to try the fried insects and crocodile skewers. There are also rows of antique shops selling furniture, plush toys, second-hand clothes, second-hand bags, second-hand shoes, and small decorations like framed vintage posters.
The food there is very affordable. I suggest not stopping at the first store you see. Walk around a bit before deciding where to eat, as the prices are very competitive and vary slightly from store to store.
It's a 10-minute walk from Suan Luang Rama 9 (สวนหลวง ร. 9) station on the Yellow Line metro from downtown Bangkok.
Best rooftop bar in Bangkok Thailand
#nightlife
Environment:
Tichuca's environment is simply beautiful! The gate is located above the high-rise building. As soon as you step on the rooftop, you can see the night view of the whole Bangkok. The lights are brilliant and beautiful. The decoration of the bar is also very distinctive, with a strong tropical atmosphere. Sitting here, it feels like floating in the night sky of Bangkok.
Service:
The waiters are super nice and always smiling, which makes people feel very comfortable.
In general, Tichuca rooftop bar is really a place that people want to go again. YY is very satisfying in terms of environment, service and dishes. Next time I go to Bangkok, I will definitely check in again!

The Grand Palace in Bangkok: The Royal Charm of Thailand Through My Eyes
When I first stepped into the Grand Palace in Bangkok, the sight before me took my breath away. This magnificent complex felt like a golden dream, shining brilliantly and seemingly narrating the long history and culture of the Thai royal family.
🔆Spectacular Architecture
Every building in the Grand Palace is filled with intricate details and unique artistic styles. As I approached the grand central hall, its golden roof glittered under the sunlight, making me feel the luxury and majesty of the royal family. Every wall and pillar here seemed to tell stories of the past. I was particularly fond of the colorful mosaic decorations, which were not only beautiful but also showcased the superb craftsmanship of Thai artisans.
Within the Grand Palace, there is a site I was especially looking forward to—the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This temple houses Thailand's most sacred Buddha statue—the Emerald Buddha. The design and decoration of the temple are astonishing, with the golden Buddha and the green jade forming a striking contrast, allowing me to feel the power and beauty of religion.
The Grand Palace in Bangkok is undoubtedly one of the most unforgettable parts of my journey. Its golden splendor and profound cultural heritage deeply fascinated me. Every time I recall that day, a warm feeling of emotion wells up in my heart. I hope everyone who comes to Bangkok can experience this unique charm firsthand!
Must-Stay Hotel in Bangkok: W Hotel. The renovated bar and afternoon tea at the Sathorn House are worth experiencing.
W Hotel Bangkok is the hotel I have stayed at the most in Thailand. It is also the W Hotel I have stayed at the most. W Hotel Bangkok is like a mirror, reflecting the fascinating charm of Bangkok's collision and fusion of old and new times, local and world characteristics. It allows people to travel through time in Bangkok for a hundred years. The garden afternoon tea at Sathorn House is also a part I strongly recommend to check in! I have been drinking at Woobar in W Bangkok for ten years, and the entire wine list has been turned over and over by me for many rounds. This time I came back and there was no Woobar. Instead, it was replaced by the renovated W Lounge. The wine list was also changed. The cocktails still maintain a very high standard. I strongly recommend not to miss it! At the same time, the lunch and dinner at the Paii restaurant in Sathorn House are also very good. This classical architecture encloses a lush courtyard garden from all sides. The indoor part is planned as a restaurant and bar on the first floor and a club and multi-function room on the second floor. Enter the entrance hall, pass through the corridor, step on the exquisite carved wooden stairs, the line curtain crystal lamp descends directly from the air to the ground, and a strong old time mark permeates the air. Opened for 12 years, W Bangkok tells the charm of this world city that is full of charm from a completely different perspective. It is dynamic and high-profile, which is the key to W Hotel's capture of countless fashionistas around the world! The design of each W Hotel will incorporate the characteristics of the city. The same is true for W Bangkok!

✈️ Fly Solo with me to Bangkok
#solotravel #100WaysOfTravel
My first flight out from Singapore was to redeem Singapore Airlines business class to Bangkok when they had Spontaneous Escapes sale. It was a good idea because at Suvarnabhumi Airport, business class passengers were allowed to use the fast track lanes. It was super useful to bypass the long immigration lines and my luggage already had priority tags. So it was a fast arrival for me at Bangkok and my airport transfer were already waiting for me. On this trip, I was staying at Millennium Hilton Bangkok in their panoramic suite so everything was rolling. I did not even had a chance to carry my luggage. The airport transfer driver took care of it then the hotel staff took care of it. They even placed it in my suite for me while I was having a drink at the executive lounge.
