2024 Bangkok Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in August)
Energetic, chaotic, and majestic, these are just a few words that come to mind when describing Bangkok. The heart and capital of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the most sprawling and metropolitan cities in Asia, and a popular gateway into the country. A city that has deeply rooted traditions and cosmopolitan attitudes, Bangkok has abundant cultural fascinations to captivate travelers from all over the world.Located close to the Gulf of Thailand, Bangkok is a city of waterways with the Chao Phraya River flowing through it. Back in the 19th century, as most of the city’s residents lived near or on the water, the city is known as the “Venice of the East.” While the history of Bangkok dates back about 600 years, it didn’t become the capital city until the 18th century. Through trade and commerce, the city expanded to its current scale. Today tourism is one of the major sources of revenue in Bangkok. With a tropical monsoon climate, the capital is hot and humid year-round. The most pleasant months to visit are from November to March when the heat and humidity are at their lowest. But this also means crowds are at their peak in late Fall and Winter, and this is particularly true around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. If you don’t mind the monsoon season, July and August are the off-peak seasons where many good deals are available on hotels and flights. There are so many first-rate scenic spots on offer in Bangkok, it is impossible to see them all if you only have a few days. For major tourist attractions in Bangkok, most are historical or religious sites. Make sure you admire the amazing architectural design of the Grand Palace and Wat Arun, pay homage to the sacred Jade Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) or the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho), or cruise past the temples and mansions on the Chao Phraya River (River of Kings). It is worth noting that, as many sites are sacred, there are strict rules which all visitors must follow. For instance, dress codes at the Grand Palace and various temples, men must wear long pants, shirts with sleeves, and no bare feet are permitted. Women must wear modest clothing that covers knees and shoulders.

Admiring Thai Royal Splendour at The Grand Palace
#100waysoftravel
The Grand Palace was the official residence of the Kings of Siam (and later Thailand) since 1782
The king, his court, and his royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925. King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), resided at the Chitralada Royal Villa and his successor King Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall, both in the Dusit Palace, but the Grand Palace is still used for official events. Several royal ceremonies and state functions are held here every year. The palace is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand.
The Grand Palace is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards.
The Grand Palace is currently partially open to the public as a museum, but it is also a working palace, with several royal offices still situated inside.

Rooftop feast at Blue Sky
#myhiddengems
The Blue Sky rooftop restaurant and bar is located in the north of Bangkok, at the five star hotel Centara Ladprao
The rooftop is really very peaceful, calming, stylish and posh with modern futuristic décor… Diners can choose to dine open air with the stunning view of the Bangkok skyline and the surroundings or dine in comfort inside the restaurant …. We opted to dine inside as it was drizzling a little then…
Blue Sky rooftop restaurant serves European steak & seafood dishes, and the bar also offers a good set of cocktails and a really impressive wine list.
My friends and I were beyond spoiled with superb food, world class service, and the view from the rooftop when we decided to have dinner there…

Millennium Hilton Bangkok: Enjoy Breathtaking Views
#hotelstaycation
Millennium Hilton Bangkok offers a captivating atmosphere and breathtaking views, making it an appealing choice for those seeking luxury in the city. The hotel's riverside location provides a serene environment, with stunning vistas of the Chao Phraya River and city skyline, especially at sunset.
However, the room cleanliness left something to be desired. While the room was generally comfortable, it wasn’t as well-cleaned as expected for a Hilton property. The service was also just okay—polite but not particularly attentive or responsive.
Despite these shortcomings, Millennium Hilton Bangkok still stands out for its ambiance and scenic views. It's a solid option for travelers who prioritize atmosphere, though there is room for improvement in both room cleanliness and service quality.

Bangkok European style Coffee Shop Brioche from Heaven 🇹🇭
#cafestory
Bangkok's second visit | European romance on the streets of Paris
When I was shopping, I accidentally found this "Little Paris" single-family dessert shop covered with red bricks.
French-style sunshade hanging outside the house
It's really like a corner coffee shop in a Paris movie.
The whole picture is very French.
Savouring the latest Brio and coffee, it seems to be on the streets of Paris at this time.
For dessert, it is recommended to have creamy nuts, Brio's soft bread with crispy nuts, and a big cream jam. It's sweet but not greasy near Siam Square.
If you are tired of shopping, you can come and sit down and take photos. It's super beautiful. Desserts also taste good.
It's quite recommended-

Bangkok will penalize every individual who does not strategize‼️
This is the first time I went to Bangkok without a guide!
Because my best friend is in Bangkok, so she took me on an in-depth tour without stepping on any pitfalls! Take out your notebook and write it down!
D1
▪️ Watergate Temple Buddha: very recommended to go! There is no admission fee, different angles are very shocking, photo also out of the film ~ Chinese people bring fire photo bit, the address on the picture directly search!
▪️ Zhengwang Temple: recommended! The surrounding area is full of shops renting clothes, 150 baht a set No time limit, the Chao Phraya River across the Grand Palace can be seen, 1-2h can be photographed to stroll through!
❌ do not recommend the Grand Palace because the land is not big tickets are expensive, several are not open, depending on personal wishes it!
▪️ Siam Paragon and Centralworld together, Netflix footbridge is here, large shopping district can slowly stroll
▪️ Four-Face Buddha + Big C: walk from the shopping district can be reached, the Four-Face Buddha is super small, like in the square; BC big supermarkets can buy speciality products, Thai school uniforms are also here to buy, a set of 100 + rmb very cost-effective!
▪️ ordinary red light district, you can see it, a bit shocking!
D2
▪️ICONSIAM: super big! Very good to stroll ~ underground water night market to eat a lot, inside and outside are very suitable for photography, you can slowly stroll most of the day!
▪️ Mekong River Cruise: highly recommended to go to the opposite side of the Zheng Wang Temple to see the sunset! 🌇 very beautiful and very good shot, unfortunately this time did not go ......
▪️ Chinatown: super crowded at night, super lively, eat a lot, take pictures also beyond the film!
▪️NANA Square: you can feel the Thai ‘culture’, very strong, seems to be in the city is very lively!
▪️Kaoshan Road Night Market: foreigners gathered in these two night areas, a street of bars, but also food, lively 💥!
D3
▪️ Siam Walking Street: the other side of Paragon, a bit like Chunxi Road in Chengdu and Nanjing East Road in Shanghai, many shops are very good to shop!
▪️ King Power Duty Free Shop: big brands from 50% off, the day we went 70% off, snacks are very cheap with 2k-1k 🐷 coupons, worth shopping 🛍️
▪️ Food Street after Chulalongkorn University: superb food! Milk Boy is right here, lots of queues and the milk is super good!
Recommended
▫️ Many streets and alleys in Thailand are very Thai flavour, you can take more photos 📸
▫️ accommodation can live in the old town, Siam District, Riverside District, there are not many attractions! It is also relatively gathered, three days of slow play is also enough!
▫️ Most of them are Bangkok ➕ Pattaya or Bangkok ➕ Phuket, if you have enough time, you can arrange the itinerary in this way.
▫️ The Mai Attack Railway Market, Tannen Sado Floating Market, and the Ancient City of Siam are very, very far away! Don't follow the guide blindly to play 😤
Food
The first two photos on ▪️ are from BTS S8 station.
Ghost Hanging Noodles, Tossed Rice (go to other shops to find the same ones all are delicious)

🌸Spa day in Bangkok 💆🏽♀️🌺
#spa #luxuryspa
🧖♀️A luxury spa day with my mum on the first day in Bangkok.
🗓️ We bought a 180mins spa package for which included 60 mins of body scrub and 120 mins aromatherapy oil massage. We reserved our time slot 2 weeks beforehand through WhatsApp. They usually respond within an hour.
👩💻 We were greeted by a friendly receptionist providing a hand towel and welcome drink. The ambiance is very nice and relaxing. We also got to choose our preferred body scrub and massage oil.
🌸 My masseuse Pat came to the lobby and guided us to our private room which also had its own shower and wash basin. The spa room is quite and clean. My masseuse was professional and polite. The bed was comfortable. I felt asleep half way into the massage. It was absolutely amazing.
📍 Located in an easily accessible location. It took about 5 mins walk from the Asok BTS station. Turn left onto Sukhumvit Soi 12 then go straight for about 2 mins, you can find the shop on your right hand side.
⭐️ The whole experience was excellent. A 180 mins well spent! The best l have had so far. I will definitely come back here when I visit Bangkok again.

The Erawan Museum พิพิธภัณฑ์ ช้างเอราวัณ
#museums #100WaysOfTravel
If you're looking to add a unique spot to your temple tour, the Erawan Museum should definitely make your list. It's a bit out of the way compared to other temples, but how often do you get to see a massive three-headed elephant statue? The site is beautifully maintained, and the staff are incredibly welcoming. They're even willing to snap a photo or two if they see you're exploring solo – a nice touch for travelers like me. Don't forget to bring a tripod if you're on your own!

Nice place to visit, has many plane models. I called a couple of days ahead of time to ask about the simulators, got an answer to just arrive, and that yes they are open on Sunday. When we arrived there was a 2 day power outage. Ended up arriving but not able to visit inside the buildings. I was impressed at the souvenir shop, quite a lot of keepsakes in there. Has clean toilets.
