Wat Arun: Thailand's Eiffel Tower

King Taksin ordered the construction of a temple by the river to commemorate King Rama I, the founding father of Thailand, and placed Rama I's ashes within it. Later, King Rama II and King Rama III expanded and renovated the temple, raising the height of the main spire to 82 meters and adorning its surface with porcelain and glass from China, making it even more spectacular and dazzling. The main spire of Wat Arun is a prang in the Brahmin style, representing the center of the Buddhist universe. Surrounding the main spire are four smaller satellite prangs, symbolizing the four directions. Each level of the spire has balconies that visitors can climb to enjoy views of the river and the city.
