Pay homage to Phra Phuttha Trairatana Nayok (Sam Por Kong) at Wat Kalayanamit

🏰Wat Kalayanamit Woramahawihan, a second-class royal temple, is a significant temple on the Thonburi side. It was built during the reign of King Rama III. 🏰Chao Phraya Nikornbodin (To Kalayanamit) dedicated his house and purchased additional land to build the temple in 1825. He then offered it to King Rama III, who named it Wat Kalayanamit. 🏰Later, King Rama III built the main hall and Phra Phuttha Trairatana Nayok (Luang Pho To), the principal Buddha image, a stucco Buddha in the Mara Vichaya posture. The king intended for it to be a large Buddha image by the river, similar to Wat Phanan Choeng in Ayutthaya. 🙏Luang Pho To is highly revered, especially among the Chinese community, who call him Sam Por Hud Kong or Sam Por Kong. 🏰The ordination hall features murals depicting the Buddha's life and the lifestyle of people during the reign of King Rama III. It houses a Buddha image in the Parileyyaka posture (Palelai).
