Visit the Maha Uth Ubosot at Wat Thong Noppakhun

🌕 Wat Thong Noppakhun is an ancient temple built during the Ayutthaya period, known as Wat Thong Lang, paired with Wat Thong Bon (Wat Thong Thammachart). 🏰 Later, Phra Ya Choduek Ratchasethi (Thong Chin Krai Ruek) renovated it and offered it as a royal temple during the reign of King Rama III. Important features in the temple: 🏰 The Ubosot was originally a Chinese-style brick and mortar building. During the reign of King Rama IV, it was renovated and changed to a Thai style. ⛺ The windows have 10 openings, 5 on each side. Each side has oval-shaped window openings. The central windows on both sides are crowned. The Ubosot with these window openings is called Maha Uth Ubosot. 🖼 Inside, there are mural paintings by Phra Kru Kasin Sangwon (Mi), a disciple of Phra Ajarn In (Khrua In Khong), depicting royal umbrellas and the story of Phra Vessantara Jataka. 🙏 The principal Buddha image in the Ubosot is in the Maravijaya posture. 🏰 The Vihara is a Thai-style brick and mortar building housing Luang Pho Saeng Phet and several other Buddha images of various sizes. 🛕 The Mondop, built during the reign of King Rama IV, is on a hill, 6 cubits high, housing a replica of the Buddha's footprint. 🛕 The large Chedi, with a twelve-cornered base, is located between the Ubosot and the Vihara.
