Wat Noranat Suntharikaram

🏞 Wat Noranat Suntharikaram, originally known as Wat Thep Yaphli and Wat Chimpli, is a Dhammayut temple built during the reign of King Rama II. In 1851, King Rama IV ordered the excavation of the Padung Krung Kasem Canal, which passed through the temple grounds. 🏡 Later, Phra Choduek Ratchasetthi (Sathian Chotiksetthi) and his wife Khun Ying Sun renovated the temple by constructing the ordination hall, vihara, sermon hall, chedi, and monk's quarters. They presented the temple to King Rama V, who named it Wat Noranat Suntharikaram. 🏰 During the reign of King Rama VII, the temple fell into disrepair, prompting the king to order its restoration. In 1932, Princess Uthongkhet Khattiyanari, daughter of Princess Vimolnart, renovated the ordination hall, vihara, and monk's quarters once again. 🏰 After World War II, the temple's sacred structures were damaged, leading to further restoration efforts, including the construction of new monk's quarters and a sermon hall. Important structures within the temple include: 🏰 The ordination hall, a brick and mortar building in traditional Thai style, features a central gable with a stucco image of Indra seated on a throne, gilded and lacquered.
