Wat Phu Khao Thong | Bangkok

Wat Phu Khao Thong, also known as Wat Saket Ratcha Wora Maha Wihan, is a second-class royal monastery. It is an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Sa Kae, it was later renovated and a canal was dug around the monastery. King Rama I bestowed the new name Wat Saket, which means 'to cleanse the hair'. The highlight of the temple is the Phra Borom Banphot or Golden Mount, which stands 77 meters tall. An important tradition is the Red Cloth Ceremony, where the Phra Borom Banphot Chedi is wrapped in a red cloth to worship the Buddha's relics. This auspicious ceremony has been practiced since the reign of King Rama V.
