The 68-Foot Ji Gong Temple in Yong Peng

Yong Peng, a small town in Malaysia, is home to a special temple that many people visit every year. This temple is famous because it has a very tall statue of a monk named Ji Gong. The statue is 68 feet high, which is about the same height as a six-story building. Ji Gong was a monk who lived in China a long time ago, during the Song Dynasty. He is known for his kind heart and the many miracles he performed. People believe that he helped those in need and protected the poor. Even though he was a monk, Ji Gong was different from others because he didn't always follow the strict rules of Buddhism. He was often seen drinking wine and eating meat, which were unusual behaviors for a monk. But his good deeds and care for people made him a beloved figure. The temple in Yong Peng is a place where people come to pray and show respect to Ji Gong. When visitors arrive at the temple, the first thing they see is the giant statue of Ji Gong standing tall. It is made of concrete and painted in bright colors. Ji Gong is shown holding a fan in one hand, which is one of his famous symbols, and wearing traditional monk robes. #temples
