Xiaman Embroidery Art - Liu Yamei and Liu Sitong Art Exhibition.

The "Xiaman Embroidery Art - National Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritors Liu Yamei and Liu Sitong Art Exhibition" is being held at the Beijing Imperial City Art Museum. Manchu embroidery, or Manxiu, is the abbreviation of Manchu embroidery. Due to its exquisite and high artistic value, it became part of the royal culture in the Qing Dynasty and a symbol of status and rank. The clothes of the emperor and concubines, the rank badges of ministers, and the collars and cuffs of dignitaries were all embroidered with different patterns. At that time, officials were honored to receive Manchu embroidery from the emperor. Compared with Hunan embroidery and Suzhou embroidery, the characteristics of Manchu embroidery are mainly reflected in the stitching, such as the triangular stitch, which is unique to Manchu embroidery. Liu Yamei, born in 1964, graduated from Harbin Normal University in 1995. She is now the fourth-generation representative inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage "Manchu embroidery". Liu Yamei loved listening to her grandmother tell various stories about Manchu embroidery when she was a child. She became fascinated with the ancestral Manchu embroidery at the age of seven or eight and was good at embroidery at the age of 16. No matter what work she did later, Liu Yamei never gave up embroidery, and her embroidery skills became more and more mature. In the more than 40 years of being accompanied by Manchu embroidery, Liu Yamei has never given up her pursuit of Manchu embroidery skills and art. Since 2004, with her infinite love for Manchu embroidery culture, Liu Yamei founded "Yamei Embroidery House". Since then, she has created a series of popular Manchu embroidery artworks, making this royal embroidery once again exude unique charm. Liu Sitong, a disciple of Liu Yamei, a national intangible cultural heritage inheritor of Manchu embroidery. She is now the fifth-generation inheritor of the national intangible heritage Manchu embroidery. She is one of the top 100 figures in China's intangible cultural heritage and the founder of the Nalanhong brand. At the Imperial City Art Museum, visitors can appreciate the wonderful Manchu embroidery art and achievements of Liu Yamei and Liu Sitong up close and feel the unique charm of the profound and diverse Chinese culture.
