Yonghe Temple

Yonghe Temple is a Tibetan Buddhist temple in the Dongcheng District of Beijing. It was originally built in 1694 during the Qing Dynasty as a residence for court eunuchs. It was later converted into the residence of Prince Yong (Yinzhen), the fourth son of the Kangxi Emperor. After Yinzhen became the Yongzheng Emperor, half of the building was converted into a lamasery, while the other half was used as the emperor's temporary palace. The temple is one of the largest and most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in the world.
