Chiang Khong Border Checkpoint

Friendship Bridge 4 (Chiang Khong-Huay Xai) (Lao: ຂົວມິດຕະພາບລາວ - ໄທ ແຫ່ງທີ 4) is a bridge across the Mekong River, connecting Thailand at Village No. 9, Ban Don Mahawan, Wiang Subdistrict, Chiang Khong District, Chiang Rai Province, with Laos at Ban Don, Huay Xai District, Bokeo Province, a distance of 2.48 kilometers. This bridge is a bridge connecting Route R3A from Bangkok - Kunming to support the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. Route R3A starts from Chiang Khong, Thailand - Bokeo - Luang Namtha - Boten in Laos - Bohan - Chiang Rung or Jinghong in Xishuangbanna Province - Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, with a distance from Bangkok To Kunming, a total of more than 1,800 kilometers, for the construction of the R3A economic road to connect transportation in the Greater Mekong Subregion countries, it is considered a macro-economic integration project, both in terms of economy, tourism and cultural exchange. In particular, tourism is considered a very high opportunity for Thailand to have channels and opportunities to welcome tourists from southern China who will travel by car and boat to visit various provinces in the northern part of Thailand.
