Nanshan Temple Located next to the Nanshan Botanical Garden in the Nanan District of Chongqing, near Fangniu Village. It is recommended to drive there, as the temple is on Nanshan, and there are dozens of parking spaces specifically at the temple entrance. The temple is not large, but there are quite a few halls. There are the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Buddha Hall, the Western Three Saints Hall, the Thousand-Hand Guanyin Hall, and the Pure Land Hall, among which the Pure Land Hall is the most distinctive feature of the temple. This should be considered the back street of Nanshan, with many guesthouses around, lots of internet-famous check-in spots, but not many people heading to the temple, probably because Nanshan Temple has a special Memorial Hall. The temple is still being expanded and renovated, but it is open for visitors to worship. History: Nanshan Temple was relocated from the original Dafo Temple on Nanbin Road due to a disaster in 2003. To retain the style of the original Dafo Temple, the largest indoor Buddha in the southwest region was built inside the main hall: the Buddha Shakyamuni, eight meters tall, named the Great Buddha Hall. Nanshan Temple covers an area of 26 acres, built against the mountain, and is a replica of Ming and Qing dynasty palace architecture. Nanshan Temple has eleven halls - the Heavenly King Hall, the Great Buddha Hall, the Manjushri Hall, the Three Saints Hall, the Samantabhadra Hall, the Ancient Buddha Hall, the South Sea Guanyin Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the Thousand-Hand Guanyin Hall, the Medicine Buddha Hall, and the Wealth God Hall. Heavenly King Hall: Enshrines Maitreya Buddha, Skanda Bodhisattva, and the Four Heavenly Kings. Great Buddha Hall: Enshrines Shakyamuni Buddha, the Thirty-Two-Armed Guanyin. Western Three Saints Hall: Enshrines the Western Three Saints, Manjushri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, South Sea Guanyin, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and Dipankara Buddha. Thousand-Hand Guanyin Hall: Enshrines the Thousand-Hand Guanyin, Medicine Buddha, and the Civil and Military Wealth Gods.
