Zhazidong

The Zhazidong cave on Geleshan, the main setting of 'Red Crag'. At the foot of the mountain lies the Martyrs' Cemetery, reminding people of that period of history and commemorating those heroes. Opposite the cemetery is the Foreign Languages University, presumably to let the martyrs also take comfort in seeing the throngs of students today. Zhazidong is unexpectedly small, with only two rigidly divided areas: the office area (including the interrogation room) and the prison area (including an activity area the size of 3/4 of a basketball court). The slogans on the walls are uncertain whether they are the original slogans from that time or a modern variation, change the subject and they are similar to many companies' slogans today. A flood in July 2007 unexpectedly unearthed escape tools buried beneath the women's prison, it seems that not even the harshest environment can extinguish the determination to resist. The men's prison, except for the second floor where the political prisoners had 'better' conditions (number of people in a cell, time allowed for fresh air), other cells considered ventilation a luxury. The young martyr 'Little Turnip Head' grew up and resisted, learned, and passed on messages in such an environment. Even such an environment eventually came to an end on November 27.
