Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba

It is located at Calle Cardenal Herrero, 1, 14003 Cordoba, and is around 1.7 kilometers 22 minutes walk from the train station. It is a Roman Catholic Church, due to its status as a former Islamic Mosque, it is also known as Mezquita ( Mosque in Spanish) and as a Great Mosque of Cordoba. The Great Mosque was constructed in 785 CE, when Cordoba was the capital of Muslim- controlled region, it was continue expanding till 971 under the Muslim control. The Mosque was converted to a cathedral in 1236, when Cordoba was captured by the Christians force. The Great Mosque was declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, it has been a site of religious worship since the mid-century and still holds the religious significance, attracting visitors from all around the world
