Eihei-ji in Fukui Prefecture, Japan

Sought shelter in the vast temple complex of Eihei-ji, a Buddhist temple in Fukui founded in 1244 by Dōgen Zenji, the monk who promoted Zazen meditation in Japan. The rain somewhat mellowed down the summer heat although you could still feel the high humidity. The temple complex is up to now used as a training ground for monks. Had the chance to meditate silently by sitting on the benches scattered around the temple and taling in the sound of raindrops… #fukui #japantravel
