Fukuoka Prefecture (Japanese: Fukuoka / [] Fukuoka ken */?) is a county in the northern part of Kyushu, Japan [1], and the prefectural office is located in Fukuoka City. It is the most populous and most developed place in Kyushu. The prefecture is also the only county outside Japan's three major metropolitan areas with a population density of more than 1,000 people per square kilometer. The county has two cities designated by Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City (municipality). The northwest is adjacent to the Sea of Japan (Shengtan, Xuanjietan), the northeast is Linhai inland (Zhoubaan), the southwest is adjacent to Saga County and the Ariake Sea, the south is bordered by Kumamoto Prefecture, and the east is bordered by Oita Prefecture.
