Low-cost hiking to see the autumn leaves around Tokyo.

Mount Takao is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. You can enjoy the natural scenery and hike, and you can also see the autumn leaves at the end of the season 🍁🍁🍁 I left Shinjuku at 8:30 am. You can take the Keio Takao Line from Shinjuku, which takes just over an hour (I recommend taking the express train so you don't have to transfer, and you can get there directly). When you arrive at Mount Takao, if you don't want to hike, you can take the cable car 🚡 or tram 🚎 to the halfway point and then climb to the top (it takes about 40 minutes to reach the top from the halfway point, which is quite friendly). Climbing: If you choose to hike the whole way, it usually takes about 100 minutes. You can see the details in the picture. Different routes have different levels of difficulty. I recommend taking Route 4, which is more interesting, as it passes through a suspension bridge and the whole route is a small path. Descending: You can go to Yakuoin Temple to pray. The red maple trees here are the most beautiful. If you choose to walk down the mountain, it will take about 80 minutes (be careful if you have bad knees, as the mountain road is a bit steep). Overall, Mount Takao is definitely worth a visit. If you're lucky, you can see Mount Fuji. If you have enough energy after descending the mountain at around 2 pm, you can go back to Shinjuku to do some shopping.
