So, I joined a one-day tour group departing on the 32nd, while some other groups are two-day tours, requiring camping on the island for one day. There are few places to eat on the island, and they are expensive, with a sea urchin fried rice costing 188 Hong Kong dollars. Going there and back in one day will naturally be tiring, but there is no need to carry too much equipment. Itinerary: Gather at 7:30 am at the Liantang Port to cross the border, then take a bus to the Ma Liu Shui Pier to catch the 9:00 am ferry. The return ferry is around 5:00 pm, but if it's a holiday and there are more people, there is an additional ferry at 3:15 pm. If taking the subway, get off at University Station and walk about 1 kilometer to the pier. 💰Cost: The round-trip ferry ticket is 100 Hong Kong dollars, payable by Octopus card or cash. Meals are self-catered. 🧳Supplies: Bring 2L of drinking water and sports drinks, dry food, snacks, clean clothes (for changing after sweating), tissues, trash bags, sunglasses, hats, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, cooling sleeves or sun protection clothing, etc. ‼️Notice: Check the weather before setting out, as the mountain roads can be muddy and slippery when it rains. The hot weather can easily cause heatstroke, so you may want to bring some herbal cooling water. Remember to keep your ferry ticket safe, as losing it means you'll have to buy a new full-price ticket.
