Accessible by cruise on Loch Ness (also accessible by land) The castle was built in 1230 and was occupied by the English army under Edward I in 1296, but was reclaimed by the Scottish royal family in the mid-14th century. The castle was severely damaged in 1792 and has since become a ruin, which seems to be its current state.
