Golden City of India

After a 12 hour long bus journey through the highways of Rajasthan, I found myself standing in Jaisalmer. Known as the 'Golden City of India', Jaisalmer is a small city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan, right in the heart of the Thar Desert. Standing on a ridge of yellow sandstone, this city is crowned by the ancient Jaisalmer Fort, the one I grew up knowing as 'Sonar Kella'. Despite the searing heat, the vibrant colors of the city would cause phosphenes in your eyes as the magnificent fort seem to glow like a beacon. As you would walk through the narrow, dusty alleys of the Sonar Killa, the lively energy of the people around you would lift your spirits puting a big damn smile on your face.
