|One of China's four natural wonders. The Songhua River is the largest tributary of the Heilong River. It is not only one of China's seven major rivers, but also the mother river of the Northeast. On the Songhua River, there is a small island that becomes a popular destination for photographers and tourists every winter: Jilin Rime Island. Jilin rime is already well-known, but the rime on Rime Island is the best of the best. From late December to the end of February, the weeping willows along the river are covered with white frost flowers. The wind blows the silver threads, creating a wild and beautiful scene. Meteorologists call it "rime," while locals call it "tree hanging." This magical phenomenon is one of China's four natural wonders and is known as "Jilin Rime, a wonder of the world." There is a saying in the local area: "Watch the fog at night, watch the hanging in the morning, and wait until noon to enjoy the falling flowers." This describes the dreamlike process of rime forming and disappearing. In addition to enjoying the rime, Rime Island also offers a unique northern experience. After eight or nine in the morning, local residents come out to do business, selling roasted sweet potatoes, steamed corn sticks, and steamed buns. The aroma of hot food fills the air. Local villagers dressed as emperors and generals ride horses back and forth in the snow. Sitting in a horse-drawn sleigh, traveling through the vast white world, feels like disappearing into a dream.
