Jingdezhen, a place without a ceiling

In this fast-paced era, people always pursue those things that can bring tranquility to their minds. Jingdezhen, known as the 'Porcelain Capital', is such a sanctuary where one's soul can be purified. Here, porcelain dances like sprites, intoxicating visitors in this beautiful world without a ceiling. At dawn, sunlight filters through the clouds, casting its glow on the streets and alleys of Jingdezhen. I stroll down the Porcelain Capital Boulevard, where various exquisite porcelains decorate the ancient city on the lamp posts. Some are painted with majestic dragons, some with elegant lotuses and playful goldfish, and others with delicate landscape paintings. These porcelain lamp posts seem to be the guardians of the city, silently narrating the glorious history of Jingdezhen's porcelain. Entering a specialty store, I am dazzled by the array of porcelain. Blue and white porcelain, colored glaze porcelain, famille rose porcelain, exquisite porcelain... There is a complete range of categories, each either refreshingly elegant, dazzling in color, or exquisitely beautiful. I particularly like those famille rose porcelains with a style of traditional Chinese painting, depicting landscapes and birds with delicate brushwork, making one feel as if they are in a beautiful painting. In the store, I also saw a flower carving artwork that took my breath away. It depicts a phoenix resting among peony flowers, named 'Danfeng Chaoyang', symbolizing prosperity. The phoenix and all the peony bouquets are made of porcelain, with feathers on the phoenix transitioning from thick to thin, slightly upturned, and vividly colored; the petals in the peony cluster are distinct, some are tender and dripping, some are budding; the tree trunk is carved with clear and natural textures. This artwork seems like a vivid world, allowing me to experience the infinite charm of Jingdezhen's porcelain art. Leaving the specialty store, I arrived at the Jingdezhen Ancient Kiln Folk Expo Area. Here, I witnessed the entire process of porcelain making. From material selection, shaping, painting, to firing, every step embodies the craftsmen's dedication and wisdom. Standing in front of the kiln, I seemed to hear the groans of the ancient porcelain in the fire, feeling the magical transformation from clay to artwork. As night falls, I wander through the streets and alleys of Jingdezhen, feeling the unique charm of the city. Here, porcelain is not just a craft, but also a culture, a spirit. They carry the wisdom and emotions of the people of Jingdezhen and also witness the city's prosperity and development. This trip to Jingdezhen has deeply impressed upon me the charm of porcelain art. It is a beautiful place without a ceiling, captivating the heart. I believe that in the days to come, I will return to this beautiful city to continue exploring the enchanting art of porcelain.
