A little outside of Tokyo

Kawagoe, Saitama is an old town just a little outside of Tokyo. You can still see clay-walled houses and other structures that played significant roles in the Edo period (1600s). The best thing to do here is to stroll around, try some sweets especially Kakigori (shaved ice) in Summer, and dress up in Kimono or Yukata to blend in the old-fashioned atmosphere. If you are into history, just by looking around and imagining the life here long time ago would make you appreciate how they preserve old towns.
