Wat Phra That Sila Ngu

The only red ordination hall on Koh Samui is located right next to Thawi Rat Phakdi Road (the ring road). It is made from salty limestone found on Koh Samui, mixed with cement and red color, making it a unique attraction for both Thai and foreign tourists. If you pass by, you must stop and see it. The red color is very striking. Phra That Sila Ngu is a golden chedi that enshrines the Buddha's relics. The construction was jointly carried out by Phra Damjaikwang (Muen Payat Bamrung) and Luang Phor Sri Thong. The relics were enshrined in a ceremony conducted by Phra Arathat Sisutthiphong from Wat Chithon, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. If you visit Samui, don't forget to stop by and pay your respects.
