Former Site of the National Southwest Associated University (Kunming, Yunnan Province, 2A)

The National Southwest Associated University (abbreviated as Southwest Associated University) was a higher education institution jointly established in Kunming by Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Nankai University during the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. Due to the lack of school buildings in Kunming, the School of Arts and the School of Law and Business of the Southwest Associated University moved to Mengzi in 1938 and merged into the "School of Arts and Law," also known as the Mengzi Branch of the Southwest Associated University. Although the university operated in Mengzi for a short period, the faculty and students actively carried out anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda activities and supported local cultural and educational undertakings, leaving behind a valuable spiritual legacy. Today, the former site of the Southwest Associated University is not only an important historical site but also listed as a national-level memorial facility and site for the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, with high historical and cultural value. Many historical relics are preserved on the site, such as the "Monument of Students Who Joined the Army Since the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression" and the Monument of the National Southwest Associated University. The site also houses memorial facilities such as the Southwest Associated University Museum of Yunnan Normal University and the "December 1st" Movement Memorial Hall. These facilities not only showcase the history of the Southwest Associated University but also play an important role in patriotic education and national spirit education.
