Wonderful experience in northwestern Kyoto

#getgoing2025 I booked a Deluxe Room King and arrived a couple hours early for check in. Fortunately I was able to be accommodated. Front end staff spoke English and served tea and sweets. The room was frankly fantastic. I stayed during the autumn leaves and the view from my room on the top floor was spectacular. I will say that the key point to this hotel is its secluded location and how beautiful the resort and nearby area is. The hotel itself as well as the neighboring Shozan Resort area and Kinkaku-Ji nearby are all three worth a stroll through for those staying at Roku. I would particularly recommend staying during spring sakura season or autumn leaves. The hotel features a spa, exercise facility, and heated pool. I sampled the pool and the temperature was perfect. I noted a family making use of the rooms with direct access to the pool and would suggest families who plan to make use of the pool more than once consider booking those rooms outright as they appear to be limited. I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant Tenjin. Breakfast is buffet-style with some items that are ordered off the menu. Breakfast was sufficient. I wouldn’t say it was bad or amazing. Salad, fruit, yogurt, cold cuts, pickles, bread, and the like typical of Japan. The hotel also has a tea room across from the reception room where guests can enjoy a complimentary assortment of delicious teas.
