Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawihan

Wat Phra That Hariphunchai Woramahawihan is located in the heart of Lamphun city, surrounded by roads on all four sides. It was built in 1108 AD. One of the interesting features is the entrance archway. Before entering the temple grounds, you must pass through a beautifully decorated brick and plaster archway, showcasing intricate ancient Sri Vijaya craftsmanship. The archway consists of multiple tiers, and in front of it stands a pair of majestic lions on a platform about 1 meter high. These lions were sculpted during the reign of King Athitayarat when he dedicated his palace to become the Sangharama Luang Temple. After passing through the archway, you will see the main hall called Viharn Luang. This large hall is surrounded by a cloister on all sides and has porches at both the front and back. It was newly constructed to replace the old hall, which was destroyed by a storm in 1923.
