Yelang Spring Mountain, a thousand Miao villages. The Miao architecture in the villages is mainly wooden stilt houses with mortise and tenon style hip-and-gable roof structures. There are two main types: flatland stilt houses and slope stilt houses. The two-story hall houses have unique 'beauty leans' on the outside, called 'jie xi' in Miao language, mainly used for cooling, embroidery, and resting, which is a major feature of Miao architecture. In the Miao villages, wind and rain bridges are built near the villages to block the wind and store qi, as well as to shelter from the wind and rain. Xijiang used to have wooden wind and rain bridges, mainly the Pingzhai Wind and Rain Bridge that leads to Ogga from Pingzhai, and the Nanshou Wind and Rain Bridge that locks the feng shui of the entire Xijiang Dazhai at Nangu village. Due to the wooden structure, it has been repaired several times but was destroyed by floods.
