The secluded Miao village of Wudong in the mountains of Qiandongnan.

It's a small village on the top of Leigong Mountain, known as the "Top of Miao Ridge". The village has a population of just over 400, making it very primitive. When I visited during the off-season on a rainy day, there were hardly any tourists. The restaurant chef was even on vacation, and I almost couldn't find a place to eat... It really is a secluded place. The village is small and can be walked in half an hour. In the center, there is a grain drying field. It is said that during the peak season when there are many people, the villagers will light a bonfire here in the evening to sing and dance. On the cold rainy day when I arrived, the grain drying field was full of harvested rice covered with plastic film, waiting for a hot day to dry them. Next to the grain drying field is a bookstore called Zhuye, which has two floors and only sells books related to Guizhou. It also sells coffee. On the other side of it is a winery called Wudong Brewing, which sells locally brewed green plum wine, rice wine, and cactus wine. There is also a restaurant under construction. Perhaps because of the rain, there were few villagers to be seen. The lack of the primitive Miao village life scene I had imagined was somewhat disappointing. I had originally planned to visit Wudong and then go to the nearby Baiyan Village and Que Bird Village, but due to the bad weather, I gave up. It was a small regret. TIPS: 1. It takes about 50 minutes to drive from Kaili to Leigong Mountain. The altitude of the mountain is high and the temperature is low, so it is best to prepare a coat even in summer. 2. Leigong Mountain is a national forest park with rich resources. There is a wild market on the top of the mountain every day, and Leigong bamboo shoots are very famous. 3. Baiyan Village next to Wudong is the starting point for hiking to the Echoing Rock Waterfall. The one-way trip is about 4 kilometers. If you have enough time, you can hike. 4. Wudong is divided into Xinzhai and Laozhai, with a distance of about 1.2 kilometers in between. You can ask whether the accommodation is in Laozhai or Xinzhai. There is not much to see in Xinzhai.
